Venus in Scorpio RX 2018: Death Becomes Her

Date: September

Theme: Mastery of Death

Venus in Scorpio sucks the life out of everything. It needs to experience the full essence of everything it comes into contact with so it is able to survive. Essentially because of this, Venus in Scorpio only attracts death. Once the passionate kiss has worn away, only the carcass remains. On a personal level you will find your relationships become an obsession for you. You will desire to experience the depth of your emotions within and without a relationship. You will feel the need to merge with your surroundings, slithering your way into every nook and cranny of your subconscious. This will allow you to understand your intimate relationship with relationships, money, values, and self-esteem. You will get to explore what it is that you truly desire with the above mentioned topics.

Scorpionic energy lives in the shadows so make sure you aren’t simply sinking deeper and deeper into your obsessive thoughts without asking some important questions such as:

“Who am I when no one is watching?”

“If money was no issue, how would I live my life?”

“If I had a lover that was created to listen to every insecurity and secret without ever passing judgement, what would I tell him/her?”

“What is on my bucket list? How many have I accomplished?”

Asking these questions will help you peel back the layers of who you think you are and help you reach the light deep within.

Important Dates

October 5th, 2018: Venus officially goes Retrograde in Scorpio taking you to those deep and dark places withing. Use the above self reflective questions as your guiding light. Let’s not forget that Venus’ co ruled sign of Taurus has Uranus there which is also the opposite sign of Scorpio. This indicates a period of reshaping your values that are in accordance with the answers you receive.

I cannot stress enough how strong attraction will be at this time. This is so we can facilitate the exploration of who we are through another person. If you are single with no prospects of meeting anyone, you will find yourself being lured to confront your secrets, neglected passions, and insecurities that you buried in the cemetary of your heart.

October 31st, 2018: Venus RX will re-enter Libra which will look to integrate some of the profound insights you will have had in Scorpio. They will then be weighed against your heart. Were the secrets you were keeping inadvertently burying your desires? You will be able to see just how bad your quality of life has decayed from suppression and misaligned attraction.

Death Is Only The Beginning

Venus in Scorpio will help you confront and hopefully overcome the fears that are keeping you stuck in the status quo. You will embark upon a journey of intensive interaction with yourself and others. It will be a time of incredible self-examination. You will be compelled to explore your own darkness and you will be intrigued by what you discover. It will be a time for us to recycle those cravings we have for the taboo and materialism into our own personal rebirth. Many will want to do some reckless things with their relationships and finances but you will need to ask yourself “what’s behind the desire for irresponsible intimacy or foolish finances?” If you just let loose during this transit you will only build an internal resentment within yourself creating the emotional insecurity that Scorpio is known for. Use spirituality, metaphysics, counselling, healing, and the occult to transcend the earthly desires that are keeping you locked in a cycle of suppression and aggression. We always associate death with Scorpio because we have to be prepared to let go of everything we think we know about ourselves.

Til death do you part will ironically bring you closer to yourself.

I’m Your Venus…Your Relationship Desire

Featured Image: Ava Gardner as Venus in the 1948 film ‘One Touch of Venus’

This month on The Luminessence I am blogging about all things weddings, relationships, and love from a cosmic perspective of course. In this blog I will be discussing how your Venus influences your romantic relationships.

The Venus Archetype

Venus represents the following:

-What we desire sexually

-What we need and want in life

-Our essential needs

-What we value

-What we perceive we need in ourselves, others, & the world.

We look at Venus in its sign and house which shows us where and how the archetype feel secure. You look to its polarity for missing information, for objectivity, and to alchemize the original archetype. The polarity is how you grow. Find your Venus sign down below to learn about the karmic implications of your relationships.

I’m Your Venus

Venus in Aries– you are in a brand new cycle of desires and needs in this lifetime. You are learning to be selfish in relationships because in your past life you were too much in your Libra polarity whereby you were too selfless in your romantic relationships. You are learning to be yourself.

Venus in Taurus- Your values are the most important thing to you. You feel secure when your needs are met. You confuse material security with emotional security. You have to go to your Scorpio polarity to shake you up and unglue you from your stubbornness. When you refuse to change your values, the Scorpio polarity steps in to shake things up. When you remove your possessions you have to go back into yourself. Your Venus in Taurus is teaching you to be self-reliant. You cannot depend on your partner for emotional or material security in this lifetime.

Venus in Gemini- Your Venus is here to learn to explore and diversify your values. You don’t know everything, and your way is not necessarily the right way. You tend to be too critical of your partners which is when the Sagittarius polarity steps in to help you realize that there are many different value systems out there. You are here to learn to accept the diverse needs that people have. Just because some people don’t think the same way you do, doesn’t mean they are inferior to you. Accept the different needs of your partner, but don’t be adoptive of them either. Continue to use your Gemini intellect to analyze their values, but don’t be overly critical of them.

Venus in Cancer- Your values and needs are emotionally based. You can have bouts of emotional withdrawal when something triggers you. This is when you go inwards to figure it out. This is usually when subconscious emotions are being made conscious. If you find yourself getting lost in your feelings look to your Capricorn polarity for grounding. In almost every case, a person with Venus in Cancer will either isolate themselves in their relationships or look for a parental partner. You are here to learn how to mature on your own rather than letting your Capricorn polarity tell you what to do. Go with the flow rather than drowning in the flow of emotions that can consume you.

Venus in Leo- Your Venus is here to learn that it’s not all about you! You tend to give from your own perspective rather than from your Aquarius polarity- you have to be able to see others needs. Venus in Leo feel they need their partners to give them what they need, thus there is an imbalance with giving and receiving. Your Venus is here to learn to see the bigger picture. There are other people you have to consider.

Venus in Virgo– Venus begins transitioning from self to others in Virgo. Venus in Virgo natives suffer from an inferiority complex. You struggle with self-love, and self-forgiveness thus you can be involved in some pretty awful relationships because there is a part of you that feels you deserve it. This is when you have to look to your Pisces polarity for guidance. You must learn to accept your flaws and tools such as meditation and yoga can help foster a sense of inner peace. It’s only through the Virgo effort of cultivating self-love that you will evolve into the perfect relationship.

Venus in Libra- This Venus can be extremely needy and manipulative. You know what to say to your partner to get what you want rather than just saying it. Step into your Aries polarity to meet your own needs first, and then your partners. You will have a variety of romantic relationships in your life which will challenge you on this. Why try to always please your partner to keep things steady, when you can just be honest and grow closer as a result?

Venus in Scorpio- This Venus attracts what it needs more than any other sign. Venus in Scorpio is always magnetizing others to them. You tend to manipulate sex to get what you want- either you withhold it or will be very promiscuous. This is when the Taurus polarity will come forth. You have to take care of your own needs to avoid co-dependency. Be what you need.

Venus in Sagittarius- This Venus has very deep philosophical needs in relationships. If the relationship is not exciting and intellectual, you are gone. You can be deceitful in relationships. Venus in Sagittarius can be too accepting of everything because it’s all about the bigger picture. Go back into the Gemini polarity to get back into the details. It’s usually the little things in relationships that turn into the bigger problems down the road. Your Venus has to learn relativity of truth.

Venus in Capricorn- This Venus is about suppressing your own needs and values without honouring your own. You tend to bury your feelings because you don’t want to be vulnerable. Use the Cancer polarity to ask yourself “how do I really feel about this?” Realize that you have emotional needs too and the only way to fully embody your Capricorn Venus is to heal your suppressed emotions. Venus in Capricorn also prefers non-sexual touching, so if you struggle with getting in touch with your feelings, simply holding hands with your partner can open you up.

Venus in Aquarius- This Venus is about being oblivious to your own values. You are so detached that you are not experiencing yourself. You spend too much time in your head and you tend to value “freelove” and that “anything goes.” To get you focused and present in the relationship, your Leo polarity will shock you. Venus in Aquarius is afraid to engage so something shocking like abuse or the unexpected in a relationship will reset you.

Venus in Pisces- This Venus is exalted meaning it has full power here. However, Venus in Pisces feels everyone else’s needs more than their own. They lack healthy boundaries, because let’s face it, Venus is self-indulgent, so the last thing it wants is to feel caged in. Your Virgo polarity will give you a reality check. Don’t look at your partners like God just because you feel you understand them like no one else can. You have to learn to view your partners as human, and know that you are not here to save everyone. Be critical in a constructive way.

Venus Retrograde

Venus retrograde is the rarest retrograde there is to have natally. This is about getting clear on what your values and needs are. Souls born with this are here to rebel, review, re-evaluate, redo, and relive.

Your Venus has had resistance in evolving. When she is retrograde, she has reached her maximum of refusing to grow.

You did not learn how to create your own value system. In this lifetime you are meant to ask the following questions:

Who am I? What’s important to me?

You feel like you dont’t fit in, and are a loner. Any relationships you do have will be karmic. 20% of those with a natal Venus RX have never been in an initimate relationship. You will also find that you are attracted to those with strong Aquarius, Uranus, & 11th house energies due to their rebellious nature.

Venus Retrograde is here to learn how to have a deep relationship with souce and with yourself. You have to feel like you trust someone very deeply before you will be in a serious relationship with them.

Don’t view your Venus RX as a curse, rather it’s a blessing, because you will have a great opportunity in this lifetime to really get to know yourself which most people spend a lifetime doing. The better you know yourself, the easier it will be trust others.

Thanks for reading! Did you resonate with your Venus?

Your Soul Planet

Your Soul Planet is the planet in your natal chart with the highest degree excluding the North Node and South Node of the moon, and the outer planets- Neptune, Pluto & Uranus. It is believed that a person becomes the living archetype of this planet. A person’s entire life will be largely influenced by this planet-physical appearance, personality characteristics, karmic evolutionary intention, and disease and illness. In Astrology we view the natal chart as the cosmic blueprint of a soul’s experience in this lifetime,  therefore we view the chart holistically. This does not mean that the other planets and asteroids have no impact on a person’s life. Everything works together. It is a divine system. The Soul Planet just so happens to contain the largest amount of frequencies that will align you to your predestined path.

The Planetary Dimensions

According to various sources including Edgar Cayce and Theosophists, as the soul enters the universe through the galactic centre, it first travels to the star Sirius- the brightest and largest planetary body in our galaxy to receive its divine path. Some believe these are where the Akashic records are stored. From there the soul enters our visible Sun and enters Earth.

As the soul descends through the planetary dimensions, it gathers frequencies from each dimension. It will collect the most frequencies from a specific dimension of a planet which becomes one’s Soul Planet- the planet with the highest degree. Planets in your horoscope with high degrees… 24 degrees and up showcase very strong karmic implications of those planets. Think of it as the planet reaching maturity, consolidation, strength, and wisdom.

The following image is based on Aristotle’s depiction of the planetary dimensions

The following information about each Soul Planet that I’m about to share is from a variety of sources that I have compiled since stuyding the Soul Planet. I am using information primarily from Edgar Cayce, Theosophy, Vedic Astrology, and Babylonian Astrology.

The Soul Planet goes by a couple of different names

Vedic Astrology: Attmakaraka

Babylonian Astrology: Almuten

Your Soul Planet

Read about your Soul Planet down below once you have found it in your natal chart. If you’re not sure how to find it, you can comment your birth details and I can find it for you.

**Watch what your Soul Planet does in the sky. Every movement will have a very important impact upon you.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Sun– If the Sun is your Soul Planet you have a life of tears and laughter. There is something innately royal about you- dignified & stoic. If you were born in the daytime the Sun is your Soul Planet, however if you were born at night and the Sun is still the planet with the highest degree in your chart, the Moon will have more impact on your life as the Moon reflects the light of the Sun. You are a bright soul that radiates goodness wherever you go. However, even the slightest negative emotion will radiate, so be careful that you don’t push people away with your strong energy. One of your greatest lessons is to learn to overcome your ego and to learn humility and compassion. Your Father or Father figure will play a key role in helping you evolve and fulfill your purpose.  Your reptuation precedes you and people can read you like a book. You tend to view things on the surface level and some might even think you are superficial. You also take yourself too seriously and can have a feeling throughout your life of missing something.

Moon– If the Moon is your Soul Planet you are social, caring, empathetic, psychological, & strong. It is best to have a Moon Soul Planet if you were born at night because this will give you royal qualities. If you were born during the day, your Moon will be weaker. You can become easily influenced by other people, susceptible to psychic attack, & you can be very angry and hateful. You are deeply connected to the emotional body and will learn how to navigate your emotional waters. You will be very connected to all that the Moon represents: your mother, homeland, ancestry, food, and intuition. If your Moon is in good dignity, you will be soft spoken, graceful, and compassionate. If your Sun is in a much lower degree than your Moon or if it is the planet with the lowest degree in your chart, you will feel disconnected from your Mother, and your parents may not have had a good marriage. Following the phases of the moon and taking baths will help you to cleanse unwanted energies that you pick up during the day.

Mercury– If Mercury is your Soul Planet this is considered one of the most rare soul planets. Your Mercury must be visible according to the heliacal phases of the planets. Basically, check to see if your Mercury is conjunct the Sun. If it is, it will become invisible…unfortunately most people have Mercury conjunct the Sun because Mercury can never be more than a few degrees away from the Sun. You are very inquisitive, intellectual, studious, versatile- you can actually possess the qualities of all the Soul Planets. You are a mediator and know how to make money. One of your karmic challenges that you will have to overcome will involve the truth. You must learn to be pure and honest in your communication. Your pineal gland is highly activated during your life allowing you to merge your soul with the holy spirit or God or source. You must watch out for self-aggrandizement because this can inhibit the strength of your mind.

Venus– If Venus is your Soul Planet, you possess the luckiest soul planet. You are friendly, soft, magnetic, attractive, and always seem to get things for free. You can advance in your career through your friends and partners. You have a very predictable life that will bless you with material comforts. Remember, Venus’ path in the sky makes a pentacle- the symbol for Earthly pleasures. You need to work on your self-discipline because you can be too lax. You need pushes in order to get your life going. The thymus gland is the gland which will be strongly activated during your life. It is a lymphatic organ of the immune system located behind the sternum. When the thymus gland is activated, you find yourself sympathetic, and seeking love, beauty, and music. You will also be strongly attracted to the opposite sex. One of your most important karmic lessons will involve the process of creation and sexual relationships. Learning not to abandon projects and people when the lust wares off will ensure that you keep your integrity intact which will help you to understand the spiritual process of creating something from start to finish.

Mars– If Mars is your Soul Planet you are driven by anger. You are unpredictable, & you will change your mind often. You are a self-made person- you cannot depend on others during your lifetime because you will be repeatedly let down. You will have troubles with your boss. You hate rigidity and find yourself getting into trouble quite easily. If you were born at night, Mars is weaker and you can find yourself feeling sexually inferior to others. It will feel as though your life is hanging on by a thread. Everything for you is do or die in this lifetime. If you were born during the daytime, Mars will take on more of a destructive force in your life. The Adrenal glands will be strongly activated during your life. It is believed that the adrenal glands are the storehouses of our karma. This means that you will encounter many karmic people and situations in your life. It is fair to say that you are not here to initiate a new karmic evolutionary cycle. You are here to repay the debts from your previous lifetime, more than paving a new path. You will learn how to control your warrior like power, aggressions, and urges. You will need to cultivate self control. You also have a very high opinion of yourself which makes you very courgaeous.

Jupiter– If Jupiter is your Soul Planet you are morally and ethically the best out of all the Soul Planets. You want to save the world, and help everyone you can. You love people and people love you. You are generous and very lucky- lucky in the spiritual sense so you will be able to easily attract good karma to you. You most likely come from an affluent and harmonious family. If you were born at night, you will possess more setbacks than someone born during the day with Jupiter soul planet. The pituitary gland will be strongly activated during your life. It is the master endocrine gland in the body located at the base of the brain. Awakening will come to you in this lifetime. Meditation and prayer are highly favourable because you have the ability to access God directly. You possess high mindedness and an affinity for large groups. You come to Earth with universality and nobility. You have grand ideas and notions. One of your greatest karmic lessons will involve acceptance. An imbalanced Jupiterian energy looks down upon those who are less knowledgeable and capable. Keep in mind that your enemies are your gurus, as are the homeless, and sick. The Jupiter planetary dimension is the most sacred dimension at is is believed that the energy here allows one to experience atonement. We can relate the pituitary gland to the crown charka. When this chakra is balanced, it assists the other chakras in aligning.

Saturn– If Saturn is your Soul Planet, you are withdrawn, suspicious, hold grudges, don’t like to give and lonely. You are a person of your word, talk slowly without emotion, you have a big frame, and you don’t like to smile or laugh. If you were born during the day, Saturn will soften. If you were born at night, you will be more harsh. The gonads will be strongly activated during your life. It is believed that prior to incarnating on Earth, the soul spent time in what Christians call “purgatory” a place of cleansing, purification, and starting over. A soul may choose to banish itself to the realm of Saturn if it needs to be reborn. Metaphysically, a soul may choose to start over when it cannot overcome its karmic lessons after trying countless times to no avail. We build up our karma over eons, so going into the Saturn dimension prior to incarnating erases all previous attempts. This is why the gonads are associated with this realm. Sex is viewed as a basic primal instinct that is often abused. A Saturn soul planet gives one an inner sense of frustration and naivety during life, but also an incredible gift of perseverance and strength. You understand suffering more than the other planets, so you come to Earth with a great responsibility to ease human suffering. This does not mean you are meant to end wars and poverty, but volunteering your time in a shelter or working in hospice care will greatly reward you.

Full Moon in Libra March 31, 2018: The Weighing of the Heart

This lunation is about bringing together our heart and mind in order to create a perfect equilibrium, worthy of Maat. Maat is an Ancient Egyptian concept of justice. It was believed that social and personal disharmony disrupts the heavens which causes hiccups in the cycle of the seasons, social interactions, the movements of the planets, and truth. Behaviour on Earth directly affects the cosmos. This is a little different from what modern day new age philosophies preach- as above so below. We have resorted to blaming the planets and tricky alignments for chaos on Earth, but perhaps we need to take some responsibility and realize that we are in a symbiotic relationship with the universe. It will respond to our actions, just like we will respond to it.

When a soul was passing through the underworld, its heart would be weighed against the feather of Maat- the feather of justice. The heart contained the soul of the person and the accumulated energies…both good and bad of the person. If the feather was found to be lighter or of equal weight to the feather, it meant the person lived a virtuous life and would prosper in the afterlife. If the heart was found to be heavier than the feather, the heart would be devoured by the lion goddess Ammit and was to be left in the Duat…purgatory.

Your Heart Weighing Ceremony

If we relate this to our Full Moon in Libra, the lesson here is selflessness. Selflessness requires honesty to thy self and the willingness to compromise. To the Ancient Egyptians, a virtuous life meant that the individual used their power for the greater good of the universe, deeply appreciating the delicate balance it had with the heavens and the responsibility to be a good person on Earth.  Are you being a bystander in your own life, surrendering everything to the universe without taking responsibility for your actions? Or are you co-creating with the universe, setting positive intentions, helping others, and honouring your unique self? This time of balance (especially after the equalizing energy of the Spring Equinox) can emphasize our imbalances. Our Leo North Node might have been making you a little too egotistical, or our Aquarius South Node might have been making you too compromising. Ironically, it was the lion goddess who devoured the imbalanced hearts……….too much Leo energy is unvirtuous which means one cannot truly ascend.

This is the first Full Moon after our cosmic equilibrium of the Spring Equinox where a fertile energetic frequency was created. The conditions are still fertile- especially with this Venus ruled Moon. Falling on Easter Sunday, we know that we are celebrating cosmic ascension (Christ, the Solar Deity rose to heaven on this full moon after the Spring Equinox). We can ascend or more practically speaking, evolve and lighten (Libra) up through rooting our actions with a sense of purpose and grace. Libra energy is about moving away from “me consciousness” to “we consciousness.” Ask yourself if what you are doing is motivated for selfish purposes, or are you wanting to help humanity through your actions? Remember, Libra is an air sign which is great for thinking, and coupled with Mercury Retrograde in Aries, the time is perfect for self-reflection. We are also in an 11 universal year which is also forcing you to awaken so you can share your light with the world.

Think of this Libran Full Moon as your own Heart Weighing Ceremony. Are you acting with integrity, or are you acting with ignorance? Will Anubis allow you to ascend? Or will the Leo goddess devour your soul?

The Aspects

Sun & Moon square Mars & Saturn in Capricorn- this aspect is about looking at the bigger picture. We want to move ahead (Mars), but Saturn wants us to plan. This transit will teach you self-awareness which is required for true balance in our relationships with others and the universe.

Moon Trine North Node in Leo- Like the lioness goddess Ammit who devoured the unvirtuous hearts, we too can remove those parts of ourselves that are holding us back. This might require speaking up for yourself or taking a step back depending on if you’ve been too selfish or too selfless.

Spring Equinox: The Venus Cure

Babylonian Origin- Ostara- Goddess of Spring
The Ostara story comes from the Sumerian legend of Tammuz and his wife Inanna (Ishtar), from an epic myth called “The Descent of Inanna” found inscribed on cuneiform clay tablets dating back to 2100 BC. When Tammuz dies, Ishtar is grief–stricken and follows him to the underworld. In the underworld, she enters through seven gates, and her worldly attire is removed. “Naked and bowed low” she is judged, killed, and then hung on display. In her absence, the earth loses its fertility, crops cease to grow and animals stop reproducing. Unless something is done, all life on earth will end.

After Inanna has been missing for three days her assistant goes to other gods for help. Finally one of them Enki, creates two creatures who carry the plant of life and water of life down to the Underworld, sprinkling them on Inanna and Tammuz, resurrecting them, and giving them the power to return to the earth as the light of the sun for six months. After the six months are up, Tammuz returns to the underworld of the dead, remaining there for another six months, and Inanna pursues him, prompting the water god to rescue them both. Thus were the cycles of winter death and spring life.

The Sumerian goddess Inanna is known outside of Mesopotamia by her Babylonian name, “Ishtar”. In ancient Canaan Ishtar is known as Astarte, and her counterparts in the Greek and Roman pantheons are known as Aphrodite and Venus. In the 4th Century, when Christians identified the exact site in Jerusalem where the empty tomb of Jesus had been located, they selected the spot where a temple of Aphrodite (Astarte/Ishtar/Inanna) stood. The temple was torn down and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre was built, the holiest church in the Christian world.

The story of Inanna and Tammuz is just one of a number of accounts of dying and rising gods that represent the cycle of the seasons and the stars. For example, the resurrection of Egyptian Horus; the story of Mithras, who was worshipped at Springtime; and the tale of Dionysus, resurrected by his grandmother. Among these stories are prevailing themes of fertility, conception, renewal, descent into darkness, and the triumph of light over darkness or good over evil.

Celebrated at Spring Equinox on March 21, Ostara marks the day when light is equal to darkness, and will continue to grow.

According to Jacob Grimm’s version, the idea of resurrection was ingrained within the celebration of Ostara: “Ostara, Eástre seems therefore to have been the divinity of the radiant dawn, of upspringing light, a spectacle that brings joy and blessing, whose meaning could be easily adapted by the resurrection-day of the Christian’s God.”
The Germans personified this growing light of Spring by creating the Goddess of Spring Ostara which in ancient Germanic languages means- Goddess of Growing Light. They adopted her from the Babylonian Goddess Innana.

The Astrology of the Spring Equinox
Equinox means equal night because on this day we have equal day light and equal darkness. It is a time of balance and harmony. The conditions are perfectly equal, creating a fertile energetic frequency.

The Spring Equinox occurs on a different date each year but it must occur during the first Decan of Aries, or the first 3 degrees of Aries which is from March 20-22nd.

Aries- soul forging through into new life- recalibrating, refreshing, initiating, creating something new, energetic, fiery.

The Spring Equinox marks the official start of the Cosmic New Year. This is when we enter into a new energetic cycle until the next Spring Equinox. This new cycle is the optimal time to give birth to something new, hence Spring is associated with nature coming back to life. So technically, January and February are still under the influence of last year’s energies. Progress will start to be made after this time.

Venus and the Spring Equinox
As I discussed earlier, Inanna was the original goddess of Spring, who later became known as Aphrodite to the Greeks, and Venus by the Romans, and Ostara to the Germanic peoples.

Venus holds very special significance to the Spring Equinox for the following reasons:
1. Venus is a very hot planet- heat creates new life, and remember, Aries is a fire sign that marks the start of Spring.
2. Venus in Astrology represents love, values, beauty, life, fertility, luxury, flowers, food, the arts, nature, self-love and the feminine.
3. Every account of Ostara, going back to Innana describes her as a beautiful young goddess who is the patron goddess of the above mentioned things. Ostara in all mythologies is described as a young maiden who collects water from flowing brooks, is wearing a sheer white dress and is covered in flowers, and is holding a set of keys. Venus is a planet that rules water, the colour white, and flowers. Holding a set of keys implies that she is the key to life. Thus the Spring Equinox is a celebration of the feminine because she is a creatrix.
If we go back to the Winter Solstice, a seed of frequency was created at that time that was encoded with our blueprint for the coming year. At Imbolc- February 3rd, that seed becomes conceived and the gestation period begins at the Spring Equinox and that seed/frequency will be released at the Winter Solstice 9 months later. This is why the Spring Equinox is a celebration of the divine feminine. Remember, the Spring Equinox has equal light and darkness making the conditions fertile so life can be created. Think back to December. What did you experience back then? What themes were you dealing with? The omens, signs, and symbols at that time were giving you clues as to what the upcoming year has in store for you. Also pay attention to any signs and symbols at the Spring Equinox.

Where does the Bunny symbol come from?
There are a few different beliefs as to where the Bunny Rabbit symbol originated:
1. It is believed the rabbits are creatures of the underworld because they live underground. In the Myth of Inana, when she returns to Earth, she is carrying a rabbit with her.
2. In Germanic paganism, Ostara rescued a bird that had broken its wing. She decided to transform the bird into a rabbit so it no longer needed wings.
3. Hares don’t live underground which is why they would be one of the first animals you see when the weather starts warming up. This was later changed to Rabbits, as they were believed to be more appealing than a wild rabbit (hare).
4. Modern paganism believes that the Spring Equinoc is a fertility ritual and since rabbits spend most of their time procreating, they are a symbol of fertility.

Where does the Dyed Easter Egg come from?
1. Babylonian myth- Inanna fell from heaven to the Euphrates in an egg and hatched.
2. The egg is representative of Jesus’s tomb, hence why the Christians adopted it. Remember that the Church of the Holy Sepulchre which is the supposed site of Jesus’ tomb was built upon a former Temple of Venus.
3. Eggs are typically white which is the colour of Venus, and the yolk is round and yellow like the Sun. Remember, the Spring Equinox occurs when the Sun enters Aries, and the Sun is strongest in the sign of Aries.
4. March/April are the peak time of year for Chicken to lay eggs, which were a vital source of protein for the ancients.
5. In almost every culture in the world there is a story about Earth being born from a Cosmic Egg.

Where does the Hot Cross Bun come from?
In the 12th Century a monk baked the buns with a symbol of a cross on them to mark the upcoming Easter holiday. However, there is more to it than that.
Cross Glyph- representing the intersection of matter and earth.
Now if we look at the symbol for Venus, it is a cross with a circle on top of it. The circle in Astrology represents the Sun. So we have the Sun, representing consciousness above the cross, which is Earth. So the Venus symbol represents ascension, consciousness, rebirth, and enlightenment. The Church being a patriarchal institution, removed all obvious divine feminine symbolism, thus the cross became the symbol for Christ, and not the Venus symbol. Venus at its core represents self-love. The Church knew this which is why they wanted to disguise the Venusian symbolism. Christianity became a religion for suffering and martyrdom and not self-love.
Venus also rules carbohydrates and sweet foods, so eating a hot cross bun at Easter is a way of honouring Venus.

2000px-Venus_symbol.svg

Easter
The Christians incorporated many Pagan traditions and called it their own. Easter is their most sacred holiday as it celebrates the death and resurrection of Christ. Remember, when Inanna went into the underworld, she was hung up on a cross to die just like Jesus. Once again the cross represents matter/earth and Jesus represents the Sun/light. If you look at a picture of Jesus’ crucifixion, he looks like the Venus symbol. His crown of thorns and halo represents the Sun. The Sun is on top of the Cross= Venus glyph

christ-on-the-cross-1632
Easter always falls on the first Full Moon after the Spring Equinox. This is because the Moon represents completion and rebirth and the divine feminine. The Moon rules over pregnancy and fertility in Astrology, and the Full Moon even looks like a pregnant woman’s belly. The Church knew this, which is why Jesus supposedly rose to heaven on this day. He was being reborn.
It’s on this first Full Moon after the Equinox that animals start procreating and frogs start spawning.
On a side note, when the three wiseman saw the Eastern star in the sky, signalling the birth of a King/Sun (Jesus), it was the East-Star, which is why the Christian’s named it Easter.

Conclusion

Goddess Spirituality allows us to get in touch with different parts of ourselves that we can use for self empowerment. Ostara is a goddess of life, love, beauty, sensuality, creativity, and so much more that we discussed today. The Spring Equinox is a time of creating life, and of awakening to our feminine nature. On this day, indulge yourself- that might mean taking a long hot bath, or eating something you really enjoy, or pampering yourself by getting your hair or nails done. The Spring Equinox is when the conditions are perfect for creation. When you feel good, you feel invincible, and this is what Ostara can help you with. Love yourself and the world is yours.

New Venus Cycle February 2018

The Venus Evening Star 2018

Venus became visible on February 7, 2018 and will remain visible until November 2018. Planets have the ability to appear invisible and visible depending throughout the year, depending on their path in the sky. Venus was invisible from the beginning of December 2017 until the end of January 2018 which made all Venusian things very difficult to manifest. Women were cranky, food lacked flavour, relationships were more challenging, clothes didn’t fit right, etc. With Venus becoming visible as an evening star, we can expect all of the above mentioned things to manifest much more easily.

Venus goes through 19 month phases where she rises in the daytime or she rises in the evening. Both phases bring fated events to women and affects every aspect of their lives. It’s important to know where your own natal Venus is placed in order to know what specific things in your life will manifest, however, because Venus rules women- every woman will experience the blessings of her energies during these next nine months.

This year, Venus will appear as an evening star in the sign of Aquarius. Aquarius is the sign of visions, inspiration, eccentricity, groups, and spirituality. We can expect women to be more spiritual as fated karmic events will happen, and you will find yourself wanting to socialize more and perhaps buy more crystals and oracle cards.

Venus in Aquarius as an evening star is the archetype of the Soul Sister. She wants to live life as a bohemian- spending the day lounging in a field of flowers while tufts of incense smoke impregnate the ether with philosophical ideas and artistic visions. On a more practical level, you will be much more inclined to want to join groups of like minded people and live your life on your own terms.

Find your tribe and enjoy the initiation into this mystical new time.

What we can expect with Venus as an Evening Star:

More Romance

Pleasant disposition

Food will be more flavourful

More interest in Fashion- you’ll want to wear high heels as opposed to flats

You will be more attractive

Less arguments amongst women- conversations will be smoother

You’ll be in the mood for shopping

If you would like to make the most of the powerful Venusian energies coming through this year, here are some folk magic tips to help you harness her special energies.

  1. Clean your house

Venus rules the house, so you will want to ensure it is neat and tidy. Vacuum, dust, mop, and declutter. It is believed that when the home is dirty, all Venusian things in your life also become dirty, meaning they have trouble expressing their positive qualities. Venus also rules mirrors (did you ever notice the glyph for Venus looks like a hand-held mirror?). Clean all of your mirrors and replace any that are scratched or dated.  Venus rules specifically the bedroom and the south-east corner of your home, so make sure those areas are sparkling!

  1. Wear Green and Pink

The colour green is ruled by Venus because she rules the heart and the heart chakra is the colour green. Green is also the colour of money and abundance along with  nature- all of which Venus rules. She also rules the colour Pink- colour of love and femininity. By wearing both of these colours (not necessarily at the same time) you are magnetizing all Venusian things to you.

  1. Wear a Copper Ring

Copper is an element ruled by Venus. Copper is highly conductive representing the receptive nature of the feminine. Copper is known to absorb water and fluids changing its form and colour which relates to the divine feminine. Women retain more fluids than men and we have the ability to synthesize our emotions much easier than men. Copper is abundant in female sexual organs (ruled by Venus) and is used up during sexual activity. The peacock- a bird sacred to Venus, owes its greenish plumage to its high Copper content. The bluish coppery colouring in crystals such as Malachite, Azurite, Peacock Ore, & Bornite are all Venus ruled and have a feminine sound to their names. Wearing a copper ring is believed to attract a partner and Venusian energies to the wearer. Wear a copper ring on your left ringer to bring forth a relationship.

  1. Put Sugar in Your Garden

Sugar like all other sweet foods are ruled by Venus along with gardens and flowers. Take a spoonful of sugar and bury it in your garden. Treat this as an offering to Venus and ask for Venusian blessings in your life when you do this. A Friday evening will be the best time to perform this mini ritual.

  1. Beauty Tricks

Venus rules the eyes as they are the most commented on feature for women. Wear bluish or greenish eyeshadow to help activate your own Venus. The Ancient Egyptians knew this, which is why they used crushed malachite (a copper based crystal) for eyeshadow. Place a piece of Rutilated Quartz under your pillow at night to make your hair more luxurious. Rutilated Quartz is also known as Venus’ Hair due to the golden needles found in this stone. The ancients believed that Venus had curly golden hair.

Remember to put your heart into all of these little tricks and Venus will reward you, as she loves receiving gifts.

XOXO

Venus in Copper

Since discovering Venus is my soul planet I have been on a mission to learn everything I can about this beauty of a planet.  I recently learned that Copper is ruled by Venus for a variety of reasons.

Venus & Copper

According to Homer, Aphrodite (Venus) was born from the blue green waves of the Mediterranean coming ashore in her golden reddish brownish hair as depicted by Botticelli. Take a second and scry a piece of Copper and see if you can witness the warm glow of Venus.

Venus was born on the island of Cyprus where we get the word Copper- Latin word for Cyprus is Cuprum which comes from the Assyrian word for Copper- Kipar. Copper is soft and malleable embodying the divine feminine principle.

The Glyph

If we look at the glyph for Venus we can see the Sun-circle rising above the cross showing an infusion of solar power. In Alchemy it is believed we each possess the planets within us, so the Sun is representative of consciousness rising above earth which is seen in the lower part of the Venus glyph. Venus as a planetary archetype is about moving matter to perfection and beauty- the only way we can do this is by raising our vibrations over the material desires of Earth.

The earliest form of Venus was the Egyptian ankh, symbol of universal life; the egg-shaped womb of the goddess, the place where life is generated, surmounting the cross of the elements. This womb from which the sun emerges is represented by the copper cauldron of alchemy. Christianity removed the womb egg from the cross- only leaving the material cross of unbalanced matter left.

On a side note, the Venus glyph also looks like a hand held mirror which is due to Venus ruling vanity and beauty. The traditional hand held mirror evolved from the Ankh.

Venus in Copper

Copper is highly conductive representing the receptive nature of the feminine.

Ancient Egyptians used Malachite eye shadow for beautification purposes.

The peacock- a bird sacred to Venus owes it greenish plumage to its high Copper contents.

The bluish coppery colouring in crystals such as Malachite, Azurite, Peacock Ore, & Bornite are all Venus ruled and have a soft feminine melodic sound to them.

Many instruments are made using copper due to its high resonance. In Astrology, Venus rules music.

Copper is known to absorb water and fluids changing its form and colour. Women have more fluid retention issues than men and have the ability to synthesize our emotions (water) much better than men.

Copper is abundant in female sexual organs (ruled by Venus) and is used up during sexual activity.

Copper deficiencies in soil produce sickly crops. Interestingly enough, Taurus- one of two Venus ruled signs is responsible for agriculture.

When combined with other minerals Venus transforms substances into complex salts, which is why Alchemists referred to Venus as the “harlot of the metals.”

Indeed every plant, animal, mineral, and person finds themselves easily seduced by the beauty and charm of Miss Venus.

New Moon in Aries Oracle

Anna Karenina is not simply a tale of aristocratic rendezvous, satin petticoat dresses, glitzy ballrooms, and lies and betrayals as cold as a Russian winter, rather, this is a story about self autonomy, the major lesson of our New Moon in Aries. Anna (Aries) refused to let the social codes of Russian aristocracy (Libra) rule her life, rather she followed the dictates of her heart to the extreme, purposely rebelling against society,  rather than upholding her responsibility as a mother. Anna needed to uphold her role as a mother to ensure the well being of her son, but Anna wanted to freely follow her passion, which involved having an affair. Anna’s misaligned values ultimately led to her downfall. Our New Moon in Aries conjunct Venus Rx in Aries is offering us an opportunity to check in with our hearts to ensure that we are not needing our wants, but wanting our needs. This is the alchemical code for self-autonomy, when we are able to forge ahead with our passions that are truly in alignment with the essence of who we are. Anna was insistent that love trumped duty, but it was her dutiful commitment to love rather than her love of duty that saw her fall from grace. What’s ironic is that there is something admirable about following your heart even when it’s looked down upon from the Libran mirror. When we embrace the pioneering spirit of Anna Karenina by being true to ourselves and values, only then will true love and passion prevail.

New Moon in Aries: Soul Soil

3:57 AM UT- March 28

10:57pm ET- March 27

7:57pm PDT- March 27
Moonbeams- new beginnings, fertilization, self-love.

This lunation marks the beginning of a new moon cycle in our cosmic new year. This is the perfect time to start setting some new year’s resolutions and for some soul gardening as I like to call it. New Moons are always about following your dreams without hesitation, and without balance. With 6 planets in Aries right now, Sun, Moon, Venus, Eris, Uranus, and Mercury, this is adding a warrior like energy to the mix. Aries marks the beginning of the zodiac and the creation point. Aries is the child of the cosmos. It is through the innocence of this sign that makes it in fact, the most mature sign of Astrology. It is when we are young that we are not moulded or shaped by external conditionings. We gravitate towards our passions, and we live and breath our purpose, given the right conditions. That connection to source is what endows us with its wisdom. We have integrated the spiritual downloads of Pisces and are now ready to set them on fire in Aries and to ground them into reality in Taurus.

As I mentioned, New Moons are not about balance. This is not the time to ways the pros and cons or to listen to what everyone else has to say. We are to find something we are passionate about and to just go for it! What makes this moon a little tricky, is that we have Venus in Aries Retrograde conjunct the moon at this time. We are weeding out the garden, re-evaluating our lives, figuring out who we are. Once the garden has been weeded out, we are then able to add some fertilizer to the soil. This is where the masculine energy of Mars comes into effect. Mars contains all of the nutrients we need to make a healthy flowerbed. Passion, drive, energy, and innocence, and self-love. The challenge with Mars is that if we don’t know who we are and what we want, then the passion, drive, and energy don’t have anywhere to go. Mars is in Taurus, the sign ruled by Libra, and doesn’t know quite what to do in the earthy mansion.Since Venus and Mars can’t see each other at this time, both planets have to integrate the energies of their opposites, and to learn the lessons of their opposites. This is when Mars needs to go inwards and light the internal flame. The fumes of this fire will be self-love. Like a flower, Venus needs the light of love to turn its attention to, just like flowers use heliotropism to absorb the rays of the sun. Jupiter in Libra retrograde opposite this lunation is asking us to integrate the masculine and feminine, and with the fumes of self-love satisfying the airy energy of Libra, you can count on this New Moon as being a major self-love journey.

The overall oppositional energy of the New Moon in Aries of it not wanting balance, but needing balance due to the Venus conjunction, is the overall theme of this year. Through understanding who we are by working with opposing energies, we can then align our wants with our needs and vice a versa. When the two become aligned, this is self-autonomy in its purest form, and the major lesson of Venus in Aries retrograde. Wanting our needs will be the roots that take hold.

My Venus Return

Since March 22 I have been experiencing my Venus Return, when Venus is exactly conjunct your natal Venus. The few days before and after this special event, you might experience more Venusian things in your life such as more romance, fun, luxury, creativity, and passion. You can also experience some of the more negative expressions of Venus too, such as jealousy, greed, gluttony, heated arguments etc. Pay close attention to how your days have been unfolding. This can give you a very clear idea of how Venusian things in your life will unfold over the next year. On March 22 I celebrated my 24th birthday which was a quiet day for me, a day that was very introspective and quiet. This can indicate a year that will involve more soul searching and self care. The days following have been very emotional, and I have also spent them watching Astrology webinars, one in particular about finding marriage in the horoscope using Jamini Astrology. I have had some spiritual/psychic readings that have foretold of an upcoming relationship for me this year. Interestingly enough, Lenormand and Tarot readings I have done for myself have also shared the same messages. If you can spend your Venus Return consciously by doing things you enjoy, and by setting some Venusian intentions, you can make the most of this epic event in your own life!
