Your Soul Planet

Your Soul Planet is the planet in your natal chart with the highest degree excluding the North Node and South Node of the moon, and the outer planets- Neptune, Pluto & Uranus. It is believed that a person becomes the living archetype of this planet. A person’s entire life will be largely influenced by this planet-physical appearance, personality characteristics, karmic evolutionary intention, and disease and illness. In Astrology we view the natal chart as the cosmic blueprint of a soul’s experience in this lifetime,  therefore we view the chart holistically. This does not mean that the other planets and asteroids have no impact on a person’s life. Everything works together. It is a divine system. The Soul Planet just so happens to contain the largest amount of frequencies that will align you to your predestined path.

The Planetary Dimensions

According to various sources including Edgar Cayce and Theosophists, as the soul enters the universe through the galactic centre, it first travels to the star Sirius- the brightest and largest planetary body in our galaxy to receive its divine path. Some believe these are where the Akashic records are stored. From there the soul enters our visible Sun and enters Earth.

As the soul descends through the planetary dimensions, it gathers frequencies from each dimension. It will collect the most frequencies from a specific dimension of a planet which becomes one’s Soul Planet- the planet with the highest degree. Planets in your horoscope with high degrees… 24 degrees and up showcase very strong karmic implications of those planets. Think of it as the planet reaching maturity, consolidation, strength, and wisdom.

The following image is based on Aristotle’s depiction of the planetary dimensions

Your Soul Planet

Read about your Soul Planet down below once you have found it in your natal chart. If you’re not sure how to find it, you can comment your birth details and I can find it for you.

**Watch what your Soul Planet does in the sky. Every movement will have a very important impact upon you.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Sun– If the Sun is your Soul Planet you have a life of tears and laughter. There is something innately royal about you- dignified & stoic. If you were born in the daytime the Sun is your Soul Planet, however if you were born at night and the Sun is still the planet with the highest degree in your chart, the Moon will have more impact on your life as the Moon reflects the light of the Sun. You are a bright soul that radiates goodness wherever you go. However, even the slightest negative emotion will radiate, so be careful that you don’t push people away with your strong energy. One of your greatest lessons is to learn to overcome your ego and to learn humility and compassion. Your Father or Father figure will play a key role in helping you evolve and fulfill your purpose.  Your reptuation precedes you and people can read you like a book. You tend to view things on the surface level and some might even think you are superficial. You also take yourself too seriously and can have a feeling throughout your life of missing something.

Moon– If the Moon is your Soul Planet you are social, caring, empathetic, psychological, & strong. It is best to have a Moon Soul Planet if you were born at night because this will give you royal qualities. If you were born during the day, your Moon will be weaker. You can become easily influenced by other people, susceptible to psychic attack, & you can be very angry and hateful. You are deeply connected to the emotional body and will learn how to navigate your emotional waters. You will be very connected to all that the Moon represents: your mother, homeland, ancestry, food, and intuition. If your Moon is in good dignity, you will be soft spoken, graceful, and compassionate. If your Sun is in a much lower degree than your Moon or if it is the planet with the lowest degree in your chart, you will feel disconnected from your Mother, and your parents may not have had a good marriage. Following the phases of the moon and taking baths will help you to cleanse unwanted energies that you pick up during the day.

Mercury– If Mercury is your Soul Planet this is considered one of the most rare soul planets. Your Mercury must be visible according to the heliacal phases of the planets. Basically, check to see if your Mercury is conjunct the Sun. If it is, it will become invisible…unfortunately most people have Mercury conjunct the Sun because Mercury can never be more than a few degrees away from the Sun. You are very inquisitive, intellectual, studious, versatile- you can actually possess the qualities of all the Soul Planets. You are a mediator and know how to make money. One of your karmic challenges that you will have to overcome will involve the truth. You must learn to be pure and honest in your communication. Your pineal gland is highly activated during your life allowing you to merge your soul with the holy spirit or God or source. You must watch out for self-aggrandizement because this can inhibit the strength of your mind.

Venus– If Venus is your Soul Planet, you possess the luckiest soul planet. You are friendly, soft, magnetic, attractive, and always seem to get things for free. You can advance in your career through your friends and partners. You have a very predictable life that will bless you with material comforts. Remember, Venus’ path in the sky makes a pentacle- the symbol for Earthly pleasures. You need to work on your self-discipline because you can be too lax. You need pushes in order to get your life going. The thymus gland is the gland which will be strongly activated during your life. It is a lymphatic organ of the immune system located behind the sternum. When the thymus gland is activated, you find yourself sympathetic, and seeking love, beauty, and music. You will also be strongly attracted to the opposite sex. One of your most important karmic lessons will involve the process of creation and sexual relationships. Learning not to abandon projects and people when the lust wares off will ensure that you keep your integrity intact which will help you to understand the spiritual process of creating something from start to finish.

Mars– If Mars is your Soul Planet you are driven by anger. You are unpredictable, & you will change your mind often. You are a self-made person- you cannot depend on others during your lifetime because you will be repeatedly let down. You will have troubles with your boss. You hate rigidity and find yourself getting into trouble quite easily. If you were born at night, Mars is weaker and you can find yourself feeling sexually inferior to others. It will feel as though your life is hanging on by a thread. Everything for you is do or die in this lifetime. If you were born during the daytime, Mars will take on more of a destructive force in your life. The Adrenal glands will be strongly activated during your life. It is believed that the adrenal glands are the storehouses of our karma. This means that you will encounter many karmic people and situations in your life. It is fair to say that you are not here to initiate a new karmic evolutionary cycle. You are here to repay the debts from your previous lifetime, more than paving a new path. You will learn how to control your warrior like power, aggressions, and urges. You will need to cultivate self control. You also have a very high opinion of yourself which makes you very courgaeous.

Jupiter– If Jupiter is your Soul Planet you are morally and ethically the best out of all the Soul Planets. You want to save the world, and help everyone you can. You love people and people love you. You are generous and very lucky- lucky in the spiritual sense so you will be able to easily attract good karma to you. You most likely come from an affluent and harmonious family. If you were born at night, you will possess more setbacks than someone born during the day with Jupiter soul planet. The pituitary gland will be strongly activated during your life. It is the master endocrine gland in the body located at the base of the brain. Awakening will come to you in this lifetime. Meditation and prayer are highly favourable because you have the ability to access God directly. You possess high mindedness and an affinity for large groups. You come to Earth with universality and nobility. You have grand ideas and notions. One of your greatest karmic lessons will involve acceptance. An imbalanced Jupiterian energy looks down upon those who are less knowledgeable and capable. Keep in mind that your enemies are your gurus, as are the homeless, and sick. The Jupiter planetary dimension is the most sacred dimension at is is believed that the energy here allows one to experience atonement. We can relate the pituitary gland to the crown charka. When this chakra is balanced, it assists the other chakras in aligning.

Saturn– If Saturn is your Soul Planet, you are withdrawn, suspicious, hold grudges, don’t like to give and lonely. You are a person of your word, talk slowly without emotion, you have a big frame, and you don’t like to smile or laugh. If you were born during the day, Saturn will soften. If you were born at night, you will be more harsh. The gonads will be strongly activated during your life. It is believed that prior to incarnating on Earth, the soul spent time in what Christians call “purgatory” a place of cleansing, purification, and starting over. A soul may choose to banish itself to the realm of Saturn if it needs to be reborn. Metaphysically, a soul may choose to start over when it cannot overcome its karmic lessons after trying countless times to no avail. We build up our karma over eons, so going into the Saturn dimension prior to incarnating erases all previous attempts. This is why the gonads are associated with this realm. Sex is viewed as a basic primal instinct that is often abused. A Saturn soul planet gives one an inner sense of frustration and naivety during life, but also an incredible gift of perseverance and strength. You understand suffering more than the other planets, so you come to Earth with a great responsibility to ease human suffering. This does not mean you are meant to end wars and poverty, but volunteering your time in a shelter or working in hospice care will greatly reward you.

Chiron in Aries 2018-2027: The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

Chiron the Wounded Healer is an asteroid in our solar system that orbits between Saturn & Uranus. Orbiting between these two planets suggests that Chiron’s energies are strong and awakening.

Chiron was a healer in Greek Mythology, and an immortal centaur. One day he was struck by a poisoned arrow from Hercules, which Chiron taught him how to make. He lived with incredible pain until he offered up his immortality to Prometheus who we know later gave fire to mankind.

This story shows us that we are our own worst enemy at times, and surrender is absolutely key to living a pain free life. Chiron’s placement in our horoscope shows us where are deepest wound is in our life and at the same time, how we can heal all that’s unwell in our life. The wound is a symptom of something larger going on within.

Chiron in Pisces

Chiron was transiting Pisces from 2010 until April 17, 2018. This 8 year transit saw us delving deep into the mystical energies of Pisces. It was a time where a lot of people underwent some serious spiritual awakenings and it was during this period that we saw the “New Age” becoming more mainstream. Fanaticism, deception, and floods, tsunamis, and hurricanes were running rampant. On a personal level, Chiron in Pisces forced us to swim in the deep waters of our subconscious, to peel back the layers of our 3rd dimensional reality to understand that what we see is not true reality. Many people underwent serious spiritual transformations.

Chiron in Aries

Chiron will move in and out of Aries until 2019- so the real hard work of Aries will be felt more in 2019.

Aries is the sign of self. It is an independent, initiative, birthing, soul forging through into new life energy.

Collective Level

On a collective level, Chiron in Aries will bring out a more self serving energy similar to the “America First” thing going on in the United States. I predict there will be less solidarity as everyone will be in it for themselves. Aries greatest wound is learning to accept help from others, so on a global scale, I predict there will be more push backs against trade agreements and geographical agreements such as the European Union and NAFTA. I also predict there will be more wars, and the devastation caused by war will force everyone to take a hard look at themselves. I actually noticed as soon as Chiron entered Aries, a G7 summit was held, and a lot of Western movies were airing on the television. The Wild West is a perfect illustration of a Chiron in Aries energy, because it was  “an every man in it for himself time.”

Personal Level

On a personal level, Chiron in Aries will offer deep healing of our identity. We will come to learn so much more about who we are and what our place is in the vast world and universe. We will be questioning our purpose and existence asking the question “Who am I?”

Another large wound of Aries is self love. A soul born with a lot of Arian energy usually lacks self love. This is because with a lot of Aries energy comes a new incarnational cycle. How many of us are truly confident and comfortable when we are experiencing something for the first time? Most of us feel awkward and shy, or our Egos compensate and we become overly confident only to suffer a bruised ego later on when we fail miserably or don’t live up to our own expectations. There will be a lot of healing on this level. Self love first requires self trust which is something we will be confronted with a lot during these next 8 years. Aries wants you to experience a lot of new things, but in order to truly experience them, a certain level of trust has to be present, and so Chiron will be forcing you to become self reliant. It’s no longer about the Pisces escapism where during the past 8 years you might have retreated into your head a lot. No, Chiron in Aries will push you into a lot of new situations head on that will force you to deal with them. We all know that you learn the most about yourself when you are challenged and try new things. Remember, Chiron in Aries is all about the self “who am I?”

Chiron in Pisces helped us understand the spiritual side to life, but that information is useless unless we can use it for self empowerment which in turn will empower humanity. Chiron in Aries will take all that “spiritual stuff” and make us use it for self analysis. Questioning your place in the “spiritual industry” and the universe itself will be very strong. We are moving away from healing deep emotional wounds to healing deep action oriented wounds. How are you holding yourself back? Are you afraid of taking some steps? Do you care about what other people think of you too much? What do you really want to accomplish in your life?

Aries is the warrior so you will feel the push to go your own way during this transit. It’s a very independent sign, so at times you might feel very lonely, but getting in touch with yourself is the only way to repair this Chiron wound. The heart is a lonely hunter.

Chiron in Aries will confront issues around self-love, self-worth, and identity that will create a balm of self awareness that will be the cure to the Aries wound of an unconscious self.

Saturn Retrograde April 17-September 6, 2018: Shhhhhh

Silence. A word here that invokes the energy of this year’s Saturn retrograde. It is commonly believed that when a planet turns retrograde it appears as though it is moving backwards in the sky. However, this is merely an optical illusion. The planet actually slows down, it doesn’t travel in the opposite direction.

Saturn entered Capricorn December 2017 and the the theme is about restructuring your concrete reality. Saturn produces a manifesting energy in Capricorn because it naturally rules this sign. Saturn feels comfy here, not happy as he would in Libra, but comfortable nonetheless. If you would like to learn more about what this transit is all about, check out my Saturn in Capricorn blog here.

Saturn Retrograde in Capricorn will give Saturn the time is so desires to reconstruct the house it is currently transiting for you. He will be doing this anyways until 2020, but he has more time during these next 5 months to make some great headway. Come September, you will look back over the previous 5 months and see how much your life has changed.

Many Vedic Astrologers have been discussing how Saturn Retrograde can create more fights and confrontations between people. (Keep in mind, that in Vedic Astrology, Saturn is in Sagittarius, not Capricorn). I also agree with this, because whenever we experience a slowing down of energy in our lives, we get cranky and irritable because we want to move ahead, but we can’t. Please remember that Saturn brings lots of karmic changes to you, so there’s alot that first has to be tweaked behind the scenes before your external reality can change. This is what Saturn Retrograde is doing.

giphy (1)

Don’t get into fights, choose your battles wisely, don’t instigate or provoke anyone, and think before you speak. This transit is affecting everyone, so naturally everyone is going to be on edge for a few months. Saturn is the lord of karma and morals, so he is watching your behaviour very closely. If you act irresponsibly, he will strike you down with a heavy dose of karma. You may not feel it right away, but certainly when he turns direct in September, you will. Be the bigger person, turn the other cheek, watch what you say and you will be greatly rewarded. Mind you, if someone is swinging punches at you and pushing your buttons, you will have to defend yourself…but do it honourably and gracefully as opposed to handling it immaturely.

You are the actor and Saturn is your PR person. He wants you to act responsibly and maturely when the pressure is on during his retrograde cycle so he doesn’t feel that all of his restructuring is a waste.

It’s no coincidence that the ‘Shhhhh’ sound is Saturn’s sound in Vedic Astrology.

“Silence is a source of great stength” -Lao Tzu

New Moon in Aries April 16, 2018: La liberté de la lune

Date: Monday April 16, 2018

Moonbeams: Refreshing, new beginnings, shocking, unexpected, persevering

Main Lesson: With inspiration comes perspiration

The underground rebellion La Luna is preparing fora revolt against the stagnant boring regime of reality. Dramatic? I know. But this is what the New Moon in Aries is going to feel like. A revolution in our lives is coming.

The Aspects

A New Moon is when the Sun and Moon conjunct, turning the moon invisible. This is happening in the sign of Aries which is a recalibrating, refreshing, passionate, forward moving, rebirthing, independent sign. The Sun is exalted in Aries, so he is ready to initiate changes in your life. The Moon in Aries is impulsive. You’re rearing to go.

Uranus is conjunct this NM adding a cooky flavour to this lunation. Uranus is unpredictable, unusual, electric, and awakening. The Moon is already on fire, and Uranus is plugging it into its circuit of the unexpected.

Mercury is stationing direct in Aries during this NM which is also adding a very impulsive go getter feeling. Progress will start to be made after this time.

Venus in Taurus is opposite Jupiter in Scorpio which brings in the question of material vs. spiritual. We want to get going with our plans, but Jupiter wants you to look at things from a higher perspective.

Mars is in Capricorn, the composed soldier who wants the revolution to start, but conjunct Saturn and Pluto makes him frustrated because Saturn and Pluto want him to be more methodical and strategic.

Aries is the spark of inspiration and Capricorn is the manifestation of that spark. The two signs work well together, and we do have a strong emphasis of both during this NM. Saturn is stationing before he turns retrograde on April 18, so the revolution is starting now, but you won’t see the results for quite some time.

Venus trine Mars will help us infuse some love to our situation so we aren’t so frustrated and angry.

Neptune sextile Mars will quiet the energy of revolution so we can tune in to our inner world which will have some very important things to say during this time.

Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury and he is charged up at the NM and Mercury is direct. Messages in the form of synchronicity’s and inspiration will be very strong.

Things to Keep in Mind

Keep in mind that Uranus conjunct the NM will trigger unexpected events in the Aries ruled area of your life. Something will come out of the blue. Also, you might find yourself doing something out of the ordinary that shocks and surprises you. For example; if the NM is occurring in your 10th house of career, you might suddenly receive a promotion, get fired, or choose to go down a different path. It could also mean new beginnings in the life of your father.

The New Moon in Aries marks the official start of the New Year in many cultures. This is our first New Moon in Aries since the cosmic new year on the Spring Equinox. With Uranus conjunct the NM, expect the unexpected during the next 12 months. There will be a lot of surprises and shocks that will completely transform your life. Remember, Uranus is at the last few degrees in Aries before he moves into Taurus in May, so whatever he wants to shake up in your Aries house, he will be shaking up during the New Moon.

Capricorn squaring the NM indicates that restructuring is happening, but it will gradually happen over the next so many months. It’s hard to be patient when there’s so much electric energy in the air right now, but with inspiration comes perspiration.

The revolution is starting. This is more about planning out your rebellion as opposed to marching up to the castle to behead the ruler. Successful revolutions are strategic, and persevering. There’s a grumbling of change right now. In time, it will all be different. Liberation is on its way.

New Moon on Monday by Duran Duran

This song is all about an underground resistance called La Luna who are planning to overthrow the government. The lyrics are a little odd in perfect Uranian fashion, and the video depicts the energies of this NM in a cinematic music video way.

Shake up the picture the lizard mixture
With your dance on the eventide
You got me coming up with answers
All of which I deny
I said it again
But could I please rephrase it
Maybe I can catch a ride
I couldn’t really put it much plainer
But I’ll wait ’til you decide
Send me your warning siren
As if I could ever hide
Last time La Luna
I light my torch and wave it for the
New moon on Monday
And a fire dance through the night
I stayed the cold day with a lonely satellite
New moon on Monday
And a fire dance through the night
I stayed the cold day with a lonely satellite
Breaking away with the beast of both worlds
A smile that you can’t disguise
Every minute I keep finding
Clues that you leave behind
Save me from these reminders
As if I’d forget tonight
This time La Luna
I light my torch and wave it for the
New moon on Monday
And a fire dance through the night
I stayed the cold day with a lonely satellite
New moon on Monday
And a fire dance through the night
I stayed the cold day with a lonely satellite

Crystals to Lift Your Spirits: A.K.A- Curing the Longggg Winter Blues

This past winter was a typical Saturnian winter. Bitterly cold, blistering winds, snow storm after snow storm, ice encrusted roads and trees, gray and gloom, so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Saturn moved into the sign of Capricorn December 2017 which is a winter sign. Saturn rules over our weather, so this was the recipe for an unbearable winter season. I am Canadian so our winters are usually long and cold, but this year was particularly harsh. Be prepared folks, we have another solid 2 years of this hell!

I sit here writing this blog during the second week of April, when birds should be chirping, the sun should be warm, and crocuses and tulips should be poking their little sleepy heads through the ground. Ummmm, no. It’s cold. Winter coat cold, which is very unusual for this time of year…thanks Saturn. Gray skies and cold weather are fine for a few months, but after a while it really starts to become depressing. With that being said, I thought I would share 3 of my favourite uplifting crystals.

They are ranked #3-1, #1 being the most powerful…

#3- Lemon Quartz

dsc02929-jpg-500x500

Lemon Quartz is an irridated quartz (a high vibe colour enhancing process) that has been treated to bring out its yellow greenish hue. This crystal helps to remind you of all the good things in life which counteracts negativity. I find this crystal is great to work with if friends, family, or coworkers are draining your energies.  Everytime I’ve worn this crystal, I feel perky and upbeat. It helps you to persevere even when you are feeling low.

#2- Sunstone

223-nm

I know. The name is a dead give-away, but it’s true! Sunstone is THE happiness stone! It makes you feel alive and enthusiastic! It keeps you focused on the present moment without worrying about how long your happiness will last. Like the sun, it will increase your visibility, attracting new people and opportunities your way. I have a worry stone made of Sunstone, and whenever I feel low, I rub my fingers along it and I feel a burst of energy and excitement. It’s especially useful in the winter when you are feeling cold, as it will warm you up.

#1- Spinel

il_340x270.1261241607_lo0s

Spinel might not be the most obvious choice for a crystal to life your spirits, but I believe it is the most powerful happiness crystal. Spinel comes from the latin word ‘spina’ meaning spine, as Spinel has sharp needle like formations. It is a high vibe crystal that is used to substitute rubies and sapphires. Spinel repels negativity and grounds the user. It is said to alchemize all negative and emotional issues into positive emotions, empowering the user. It is known as a matrix crystal because of its strong regenerative properties. It will give you inspiration and optimism more than any other crystal. I recently purchased a spinel necklace, and I have never felt more happy in my life. I feel excited for the future and ecstatic in the present. I worry less and have more passion for life. I cannot recommend Spinel enough, which is why it’s my #1 crystal for uplifting your spirits!

There are many more crystals out there that will uplift you, but these are 3 that I have worked with that have had a great impact on my life. Typically the yellow and orange crystals are known as the happiness boosters as they activate your solar plexus chakra, which is known as the seat of happiness. Try exploring yellow and orange crystals if you cannot get your hands on the ones I’ve mentioend.

Some other good alternatives are:

Carnelian

Amber (not a crystal)

Yellow Jade

Yellow or Orange Calcite

Citrine

Yellow Jasper

Yellow Opal

Moonlight Mansion: Nakshatra Series Coming Soon

The Nakshatras or Lunar Mansions as they are commonly called are used in Vedic Astrology to gain deeper insight into an individual. The well known Vedic Astrologer Joni Patry said this about the Nakshatras:

The nakshatras are one of the oldest references we have to astrology from the Rig Veda, dating back about 5,000 years ago. The Vedas are the religious scriptures of the great seers and sages of India. The nakshatras are like the zodiacal signs but more specific. Their meanings are derived from the constellations, fixed stars and the mythology behind these portions in the sky. They are rich in meaning and have ruling deities that reveal the stories or myths that bring to life the symbology referred to in our own lives.
The nakshatras are divisions of 13 degrees 20 minutes starting from zero Aries and ending at 30 degrees of Pisces, 13.20 divided into the 12 signs is 27. The nakshatras are referred to as the lunar mansions because the Moon moves approximately 13.20 per day, therefore, resides in one nakshatra per day. The personal planet in which the nakshatra resides will reveal deep information about the individual in relation to the meanings of the houses (area of life), and what houses the planet rules. For example, the planet that rules the 7th house (indicating a person’s spouse), will reveal detailed information about the spouse by the description of that nakshatra. If Aries is the sign of the 7th house, then Mars, the ruler of Aries (the nakshatra where Mars resides) will describe the spouse. If Mars is in the nakshatra Magha, the spouse would have all the kingly qualities of Magha.

Essentially, the Nakshatras are the backdrop of the 12 Zodiac signs which is why they give a more in depth analysis of an individual. They contain specific details and quirks of a person that makes it feel as though you are reading their soul.

There are also ‘Pada’s’ which divide each Nakshatra into 4 sections that also give specific details.

My Plan

I have been studying the Nakshatras and I would like to go through all 27 on this blog, explaining their energies in an easy comprehensible way, using analogies and popular culture as examples. I like to use symbols to explain cosmic energies because it helps make the “mystic realistic” which is personal philosophy of mine. I will be devoting one blog per Nakshatra, going as in depth as I can.

Moonlight Mansion

The Nakshatras are commonly referred to as the Lunar Mansions which is a Renaissance term, but I would like to take it literally for this series. The featured image at the top of this post is a Moonlight Mansion. Think of that mansion as the cosmos. Think of the four walls of each room as the Zodiac signs, and think of the contents and decor of each room as the Nakshatras. On this Moonlight tour, I am going to take you through all 27 rooms of this mansion, providing you with a lot of information about the 27 Nakshatras.

To go through all 27 Nakshatras is going to take time. The last thing I want to do is rush through them all. So please be patient as there will be a few weeks between each tour.

Stay tuned because the first Nakshatra I will be touring is Ashwini.

I will also be creating a new category on the homepage of my blog called ‘Nakshatra Series’ which will contain all of my tours of the Nakshatras.

Dictionary of Gypsy Mythology by Claude Lecouteux: REVIEW

A compendium of hermetic knowledge that’s as good as Gypsy gold for those outside of Eastern Europe…

Dictionary of Gypsy Mythology by Claude Lecouteux is a comprehensive guide of Romani mythologies and beliefs, containing stories from Roma authorities and a variety of tribes. It is a valuable source for those who wish to learn more about these mysterious people, their history, and culture. The information contained within this book is sourced from a 19th century Ethnologist who spent time living with the Romani peoples. The Roma do not have their own alphabet or written records, thus, all of their stories are based on the oral tradition, which makes this dictionary an invaluable curated archive of their culture.

A discussion on the Egyptian and Indian origins of the Roma is featured throughout, as well as an exploration of the pagan and Christian symbology that has weaved itself into their lives. What I loved is that every god, goddess, animal, mythological creature, folktale, rite, song, and joke was explained within the Roma’s cultural context. This helps the reader understand why they have such beliefs in the first place and how this informs their lifestyle and choices. There are plenty of footnotes and citations listed to support the content of the book, making it both a credible academic resource and an enlightening read.

I am so happy that I got to review this book! My Mother’s side of the family is Romani so I grew up with a lot of stories about their folklore. To this day we still practice bits and pieces of domestic magic and fortune telling, although none of it has been documented. Both me and my Mom started to record it a few years ago so we will always have a record to be able to pass down through the generations. My Romani heritage is not something we as a family like to “advertise” because the stigmas are still extremely strong……not even my Dad who doesn’t have Romani blood approves of my Mom’s heritage. It’s a culture that is misunderstood and is still ostracized to this day. I’m always hunting for the next book about the Roma, and this one was the most in depth and interesting one that I’ve read.

My Favourite MOVIES About TIME

Something has happened to time. Last week the days felt out of order……..

Mercury and Venus both entered Aries from being in Pisces, and I have noticed when ever we shift from Pisces to Aries we experience a dimensional shift. We’re crossing thresholds and jumping timelines.

I thought I would share my fave movies about the concept of TIME.

Somewhere in Time

MV5BOTBhZWNlNTgtOWQwYi00N2YwLTkwZjItMjFhOGRmYzU4NDhmXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNjE5MjUyOTM@._V1_UY268_CR2,0,182,268_AL_

My goodness, I truly feel it is one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever seen on film. I won’t give away the plot, but let’s just say that love transcends time, and that we’re all here to experience unconditional love. This story was beautiful as it was told from a man’s point of view, which was refreshing, as I think cinema has been known to distort the love that a man can have for the woman he loves. From the reviews I’ve read of this film, many men could relate to Christopher Reeve’s character.

What really makes my heart flutter, is the possibility that your soul mate may have lived in another era, or that one day, you will encounter this soul.

I highly recommend you watch this film if you love romance, period pieces, and beautiful costumes and music. In fact, there is even a big fan club dedicated to this film.

If you believe in the divine timing of all things, make time to watch this romantic story.

Winter’s Tale

220px-Winter's_tale_(film)

On Spiritual Sustainability

You know you’re in the process of letting go when all you want to do is hold on to it. Our basic instinct is to save what is dying because we are not conscious in our conception phase. This is when the universe takes the reigns for a short bit while we are in a jumbled mess of emotions. We end up feeling extra emotional during transitional phases because we are being forced to follow our feelings like an invisible thread. Following that thread usually takes you to the unconscious beginning of that end. For example, when a relationship is ending you naturally feel sad. When you follow that sadness it will lead you to the feeling that got you into you that relationship. Maybe it was a lack of self love? Things end as they began, so perhaps the key to sustaining something is through growth. A seed is never meant to be a seed forever. It has to flower eventually. When a plant dies it returns every part of itself to the soil and becomes a seed once again. I have known people who owned the same plants for 20 + years. It’s not unheard of but does require tender loving care a.k.a sensitive attention to its needs. When we experience a positive new beginning we are excited and optimistic. Unfortunately those feeling soon ware off once we become caught up in routine, responsibility, expectation, and the need for recognition. These become blocks to our conscious awareness. We bottle up irritability, hurt, and stress out if fear that if we were to express them, we would lose our relationship or job or whatever it might be. Imagine what would happen to our plant if we stopped enjoying the beauty of the plant and got caught up in having to water it everyday and remove its dead leaves? You would lose interest in the plant, ignore it, and eventually it would die. The minute we stop being conscious participants in our own growth, that relationship or job dies.

With all of the Astrology and occultic subjects I have studied, I have come to learn that the only free will we have is how we choose to respond to events in our life. If we take time to be present in our endings we will realize that we abused the gift of its beginning. If you are someone who has experienced alot of death and rebirth in your life it’s because there is some major theme that has not been made conscious in order to be released. There is a huge difference between abrupt endings and death and that is…..Consciousness. Most of us have not experienced a true death ( I don’t mean physical death)  more often we have experienced things ending suddenly or unexpectedly. This is the higher self’s way of giving you a time-out. Death on the other hand is when you have reached a maximum exaltation point in a karmic lesson. These are usually preceded by an emotional breakdown and are succeeded by a major life changing event. Too often we experience loss because the person we are with or situation we are in, are no longer facilitating our growth because it wasn’t consciously chosen by us in the first place. How many of us entered a new relationship or job with the goal of growing as a person? No, we want security, money, lifestyle, acceptance etc. The more aware we are of why a new beginning is happening, the easier it will be for us to see that invisible thread that is guiding us to our truth. That sight is how you can sustain something in order to fulfill your karmic lesson, as opposed to having to go through tons of people and situations to fulfill it. Maintaining your conscious participation will allow you to live a fuller life.

Full Moon in Virgo March 1st 2018: Separating the Wheat from the Chaff

Moonbeams: Discernment, Materialization, Healing

Major Lesson to be Learned: Being of service to your higher self by grounding its energies into practical reality

Challenge to Overcome: Not wanting to take a hard look at yourself without your rose coloured glasses on.

The Moon will be putting on her spectacles and rolling up her sleeves during this lunation. There are 4 planets in Pisces- Sun, Neptune, Mercury, & Venus which is imbalancing the Virgo Pisces axis to an extreme. Having such a strong conglomerate of Piscean energy will require la luna to put forth some extra efforts and put on her high beams in order to see through the ethereal mist.

Like a Virgo

Virgo is an earthy sign that is methodocial, organized, self sacrificing, and analytical. It’s staring at all this mystical energy plotting how to fix it. On the other hand, Pisces is a sign of mysticism, surrender, dreams, and emotions. It’s staring at Virgo charming and luring it away from a place of rigidity to a place of flow.

Virgo Full Moons are our opportunities to clean up the Virgo ruled area of our lives. We have 1 full moon in this sign every year and every year I usually see a lot of people decluttering, cleaning, organizing, and revamping their lives. This is Virgo’s ‘sacred work.’ Being of service to yourself and humanity through letting go of material fixations and focusing on how you can help others from a place of true sincerity and humility. When a Virgo is able to properly harmonize its Piscean energy, we can see some beautiful practical magic unfold.

Sacred Work involves applying the 3 ways of the Virgo Pisces axis. Here are 3 ways to work with the energies of this moon.

1. Intuition Precision
Have you ever wondered how it is that Virgo’s always seem to know how to plot their next move? As someone with a few Virgo’s in my family, I can honestly say that I have rarely seen them take a misstep. It’s like they can envision exactly how something is going to play out. This is because Virgo’s more than any other sign, trust their intuition. They rely on their hunches and gut feelings as a navigational tool. Being an earth sign, they will follow through on their feelings and take action. It is this precision intuition that will be illuminated for us during this full moon. Trust your instincts and use the Virgo ability to ground those instincts into reality.

2. Making the Mystic Realistic
This actually happens to be my motto and the motto for this blog. Ironically, I started this blog during the Virgo Pisces axis of 2015, so it makes perfect sense. The Virgo Moon is analyzing all of the Pisces energy and is deciding what you can realistically manifest, and what needs to go. For example, you might have been dreaming about having this amazing perfect job, and yet you haven’t taken any practical steps to acquire that job. The Virgo Moon will tell you to hold on to that dream, but to start putting out resumes and do some networking. Or perhaps you have been fantasizing about getting married and starting a family. The Virgo Moon might completely discard this fantasy because you are not in the right place for that and should be focusing on other things in your life right now. Essentially, this full moon will be giving you a reality check in the Virgo Pisces axis area of your life. It’s not about discarding all of your dreams, since Virgo knows that dreams are the architecture of your reality, rather, she wants too ensure that you are healthy and not obsessing over things that are not “serving” you.

3. Feeling is Healing
This is probably the toughest job for Virgo and one that will be the most uncomfortable during this full moon. Virgo’s are known to be quite cranky and moody and this is because they like to keep all of their emotions stored up inside. They are very afraid of vulnerability and the Piscean void of being open and receptive. Virgo’s will store their pent up feelings inside and these feelings get stored in the sacral chakra- the bowels, intestines, liver, and sexual organs. We know energetically that if you are constipated, or are too regular, or are feeling more depressed and anxious- the above mentioned areas will not be functioning properly due to a build of up of emotions. Remember, Virgo rules the bowels, so it tends to have issues digesting its feelings. With such a heavy emphasis on Pisces energy at this time, we will be feeling extra emotional. You want to be careful that you are not suppressing your emotions, but are finding ways to release them. Go for a walk, do some exercise or yoga, meditate, walk barefoot through the grass, cry, do anything that will help to ground you. Virgo is the sign of the harvest so we have an interesting energetic portal opening up for us at this time. Full Moons wrap up cycles, usually two week cycles, but I would go further back and say this moon is wrapping up what began during our New Moon in Virgo back on September 19, 2017. What did you experience back then? With a harvest moon occuring right before Spring, there is a need to release and discern what is healthy for us and what is making us sick. We all know Virgo is the sign of health and healing, so use this Full Moon to listen to your body.
There has been a lot of hype about this lunation for the simple fact that we have a stellium in Pisces. We cannot discount Pisces energy as being illusory and useless, we have to honour all of its magical gifts by using its Virgo opposition to materialize it. This is why the Full Moon in Virgo is about ‘separating the wheat from the chaff’ the most sacred work there is.
