Recently on my Facebook feed, I came across someone I know who was lamenting about how she is such a kind person who always helps out others and doesn’t receive anything in return. I found this irksome but also a perfect illustration of the shadow side of the 11 universal year we are currently in.
Sure, we’ve all had feelings of “you owe me” and “I owe you”, but if we take a minute to analyze what is really behind this, we can see some pretty interesting things going on.
As soon as you attach an expectation to giving to someone, it doesn’t become about the act of giving or about the other person, rather, it becomes all about you. The act of giving should be a selfless act, one that fosters humility and grace as opposed to gain. If your motivation of giving is to attain something back, you are only giving to your ego.
The 11 year in numerology is one of awakening to our soul signature, our purpose, our calling, our destiny- whatever you want to call it, it’s about the ugly duckling transforming into a swan. The root number of the 11 is 2 whose core lesson is that of giving and receiving. Just look at the word ‘giving.’ It contains to ‘I’s’ that look like an eleven. You cannot receive without first giving, so if you’re feeling frustrated about not receiving anything- maybe the problem is that you are not giving in the first place? The great thing about the ’11’ is that it will teach you how to be in both a giving and receiving energy at the same time. However, this first involves cultivating a proper self image.
More on this to come……..
