4 Things I Learned from My MOON MATURITY

According to Vedic Astrology, planets mature at certain ages which means they come to their full potential. The ages of maturity for the planets are as follows:

Sun- 21

Moon- 24

Mercury- 32

Mars- 28

Venus- 25

Jupiter- 16

Saturn- 36

Rahu- 42

Ketu 48

A planet that has not reached its maturity will improperly express its attributes. Saturn at 22 will lack the responsibility and structure it so desires until age 36.

I will be turning 25 on March 22nd which will be my Venus maturation which can mean that the Venus ruled houses of my chart will be growing up, and the area of relationships, self worth, values, beauty, and so forth will be realized.

Moon Maturity

This past year I experienced by Moon maturation at age 24. As a Cancer Ascendant in Western Astrology this was a pretty big deal for me as it rules my first house, but sits in my 10th house in the Placidus system but actually rules my 9th house. As a very lunar soul, I can say that I felt this maturation quite strongly.

The Moon rules the emotions, our mind, and our mother. All of these areas underwent their transition into adulthood.

2017 was a year of rapid change for me and it normally doesn’t take alot to get me emotionally overwhelmed. However, 2017 I didn’t cry as much as I normally do, and had a more surrendered approach to all of the instability in my life. I was less emotional in the typical moon child way a.k.a crying about every little thing. I had a more adult approach to things in my life. I had more responsibility with regards to my job (10th house), and my perspective on life and spirituality took a more serious tone (9th house).

What I Learned:

  1. You can’t change anyone

Last year I got my first real job at a New Age shop and found myself embroiled in unwanted office politics. I was very dedicated and hardworking. I have a strong business sense, so working there, I immediately noticed everything that wasn’t working at the store. I suggested a lot of changes, and even went out of my way to initiate them, but I soon realized that it’s not my job to educate someone about their own business. If they don’t want to fix it because it’s simply an income for them, then my passion is being wasted. I’m not here to change anyone, it’s not my responsibility, so sometimes cutting your losses and moving on is the only way to get through to some people. Prior to my Moon maturation, I would have had an emotional breakdown at the thought of not receiving recognition, but thankfully my Moon’s growth spurt helped me to emotionally detach.

2. Everything happens when it’s mean to happen…..

As I mentioned, last year I experienced a lot of life changing things. I quit school unexpectedly, moved temporarily, got what I thought was my dream job, and started doing professional book reviews. When I quit school it was around the eclipses in February and it took me until August to secure a job. Prior to my birthday Moon maturation, I was an emotional mess. I sent out tons of resumes and even went to a career counselor who was stumped as to why I couldn’t find a job? Quite randomly one afternoon in August I was perusing a local new age shop’s Facebook page and saw that they were hiring. I felt an overwhelming feeling of needing to apply, even though I thought I would never get it. Low and behold a few minutes later I got an email back from the owner asking me to come in for an interview the next day. I did, and was hired on the spot! It had to take the most obscure job and advert for me to find the job that was destined for me. My Moon maturity helped me realize that as much as I think I have some sense of control over my life, I really don’t. Now I try not to stress so much about things not happening at the speed I would like them to. Waiting it worthwhile.

3. Dont’t be so pessimistic

Yes, I am a former pessimist. I’m a late bloomer, so it takes a lot longer for me to materialize things in my life which creates an unhealthy cycle of self pity and self criticism. Out of the blue this year I had many happy moments. I started to see that my career and life were finally coming together which gave me a sense of hope for the future. My Moon is in Pisces so I tend to get addicted to melancholy and sadness so my first reaction is normally negative or pessimistic. 24 was a big year for me because I finally had a taste of material success. It made me more optimistic, and the more optimistic I was, the more magnetizing I was doing. I didn’t realize how much harm pessimism was causing me, but my Moon maturity helped me understand that life is what you make of it, and we have to find our happiness everyday.

4. Mom’s aren’t perfect

I also would like to add that the Moon rules over our Mothers, so my relationship with my Mom matured as well. For the first time in my life I started to see her flaws and felt a strong need to emotionally detach from her ( we are super close). We also started talking about more serious things about my life such as relationships, if I ever want to get married or have children, when I want to move out, and so forth. These were things that we normally didn’t talk about so it was nice to have a more grown up connection with her. I started reflecting on my relationship with her, and how she raised me which helped me to form an adult opinion of her.

To conclude….

So tomorrow is my 25th birthday (March 22nd) and I am definitely looking forward to my Venus maturation. My Moon maturation completely transformed my emotional world, so I can’t wait for my Venusian qualities to become the ladies they are meant to be.

What did you experience during your Moon maturity at age 24? I’d love to know!

New Moon in Pisces March 17, 2018: Rear Window

Our final New Moon before the Cosmic New Year is starting off with a bang! There is a build up of tension right now as you are itching for something new and yet it’s taking its sweet Pisces time. This is a unique NM because it has happening just a couple of days before the Spring Equinox. We have an ending and beginning together- it feels like you are looking through your rear window into your front window. New things are coming, but you can’t seem to grasp it yet.

What is New Was Once Old

The New Moon is taking place in the Nakshatra of Purva Bhadrapada- the feet of the funeral cot.
The energy here is asking you to leave behind the old in favour of the new. We need to be looking at the glass as half full and not empty.
A New Moon in Pisces is always tricky because we have foot in the past and one foot in the future. I have noticed people who have this natal placement struggle with change as they are too attached to the past and usually experience things in their life that forces them to detach from their known identity. I happened to be born on a New Moon in Pisces so I definitely know how it feels to be looking both ways at once.
Grace Kelly was born on a New Moon in Pisces in the Nakshatra of Purva Bhadrapada and her life story is a classic example of how these energies can play out. She was a successful Hollywood actress who was forced to give up her career for her new royal title of Princess of Monaco. Her acting career haunted her throughout her royal life as it was believed she never quite got over her retirement. She made the best of her royal career by playing her most important role yet- the role of Princess of Monaco.
Case in point- if you feel a sense of anxiousness about letting go of the past and what awaits you after the Spring Equinox, know that you have created a firm emotional foundation this year with all of the Pisces energy we experienced thus far which will carry you into your next phase.

Rear Window
Rear Window, the Hitchcock suspense film that was career defining for Grace Kelly is the perfect New Moon in Pisces metaphor. It’s helpful to look out your rear window every now because you never know what you might see. Our past informs our present which dictates our future. At the end of the film, James Stewart was able to catch the murderer because he looked out his rear window into the lives of his neighbours. Look back on your past at this New Moon, because it will tell you a lot about what’s to come and will minimize feelings of frustration.

The Aspects:
We have some intense action with Mars which shows an inner frustration with how little is manifesting for you right now.

A semi sextile to Uranus suggests looking at things from a different perspective by paying extra close attention to omens at this lunation.

Mars trine Uranus will help to combat some of the frustrations you have by helping you to think differently about your situation.

Full Moon in Virgo March 1st 2018: Separating the Wheat from the Chaff

Moonbeams: Discernment, Materialization, Healing

Major Lesson to be Learned: Being of service to your higher self by grounding its energies into practical reality

Challenge to Overcome: Not wanting to take a hard look at yourself without your rose coloured glasses on.

The Moon will be putting on her spectacles and rolling up her sleeves during this lunation. There are 4 planets in Pisces- Sun, Neptune, Mercury, & Venus which is imbalancing the Virgo Pisces axis to an extreme. Having such a strong conglomerate of Piscean energy will require la luna to put forth some extra efforts and put on her high beams in order to see through the ethereal mist.

Like a Virgo

Virgo is an earthy sign that is methodocial, organized, self sacrificing, and analytical. It’s staring at all this mystical energy plotting how to fix it. On the other hand, Pisces is a sign of mysticism, surrender, dreams, and emotions. It’s staring at Virgo charming and luring it away from a place of rigidity to a place of flow.

Virgo Full Moons are our opportunities to clean up the Virgo ruled area of our lives. We have 1 full moon in this sign every year and every year I usually see a lot of people decluttering, cleaning, organizing, and revamping their lives. This is Virgo’s ‘sacred work.’ Being of service to yourself and humanity through letting go of material fixations and focusing on how you can help others from a place of true sincerity and humility. When a Virgo is able to properly harmonize its Piscean energy, we can see some beautiful practical magic unfold.

Sacred Work involves applying the 3 ways of the Virgo Pisces axis. Here are 3 ways to work with the energies of this moon.
1. Intuition Precision
Have you ever wondered how it is that Virgo’s always seem to know how to plot their next move? As someone with a few Virgo’s in my family, I can honestly say that I have rarely seen them take a misstep. It’s like they can envision exactly how something is going to play out. This is because Virgo’s more than any other sign, trust their intuition. They rely on their hunches and gut feelings as a navigational tool. Being an earth sign, they will follow through on their feelings and take action. It is this precision intuition that will be illuminated for us during this full moon. Trust your instincts and use the Virgo ability to ground those instincts into reality.
2. Making the Mystic Realistic
This actually happens to be my motto and the motto for this blog. Ironically, I started this blog during the Virgo Pisces axis of 2015, so it makes perfect sense. The Virgo Moon is analyzing all of the Pisces energy and is deciding what you can realistically manifest, and what needs to go. For example, you might have been dreaming about having this amazing perfect job, and yet you haven’t taken any practical steps to acquire that job. The Virgo Moon will tell you to hold on to that dream, but to start putting out resumes and do some networking. Or perhaps you have been fantasizing about getting married and starting a family. The Virgo Moon might completely discard this fantasy because you are not in the right place for that and should be focusing on other things in your life right now. Essentially, this full moon will be giving you a reality check in the Virgo Pisces axis area of your life. It’s not about discarding all of your dreams, since Virgo knows that dreams are the architecture of your reality, rather, she wants too ensure that you are healthy and not obsessing over things that are not “serving” you.
3. Feeling is Healing
This is probably the toughest job for Virgo and one that will be the most uncomfortable during this full moon. Virgo’s are known to be quite cranky and moody and this is because they like to keep all of their emotions stored up inside. They are very afraid of vulnerability and the Piscean void of being open and receptive. Virgo’s will store their pent up feelings inside and these feelings get stored in the sacral chakra- the bowels, intestines, liver, and sexual organs. We know energetically that if you are constipated, or are too regular, or are feeling more depressed and anxious- the above mentioned areas will not be functioning properly due to a build of up of emotions. Remember, Virgo rules the bowels, so it tends to have issues digesting its feelings. With such a heavy emphasis on Pisces energy at this time, we will be feeling extra emotional. You want to be careful that you are not suppressing your emotions, but are finding ways to release them. Go for a walk, do some exercise or yoga, meditate, walk barefoot through the grass, cry, do anything that will help to ground you. Virgo is the sign of the harvest so we have an interesting energetic portal opening up for us at this time. Full Moons wrap up cycles, usually two week cycles, but I would go further back and say this moon is wrapping up what began during our New Moon in Virgo back on September 19, 2017. What did you experience back then? With a harvest moon occuring right before Spring, there is a need to release and discern what is healthy for us and what is making us sick. We all know Virgo is the sign of health and healing, so use this Full Moon to listen to your body.
There has been a lot of hype about this lunation for the simple fact that we have a stellium in Pisces. We cannot discount Pisces energy as being illusory and useless, we have to honour all of its magical gifts by using its Virgo opposition to materialize it. This is why the Full Moon in Virgo is about ‘separating the wheat from the chaff’ the most sacred work there is.

Full Moon in Cancer January 1st 2018: Lunar Lux

The Full Moon occurring on the first day of the new year on a Monday (Moonday)  is a powerful message from the Queen of the Night. 2018 is a year of huge emotional capacity. What do I mean? Well, the full moon represents completion, consolidation, fullness, and light. When it falls on the first day of a new material cycle, we can expect that the things Cancer rules will be maximizing its “fullest” potential this year. That means that you will be much more in tune with your feelings and your emotional security will be the foundation of everything you experience this year.

The house that Cancer rules in your chart and any planets that you have in Cancer show you where you require more emotional maturity. Emotional maturity is being able to understand and manage your emotions. It enables you to create the life you desire on your own terms. You don’t self sacrifice or play the victim (typical Cancerian traits) by putting your needs on the back-burner. No, 2018 will be your time to share your unique moonglow with the world. We are also entering an 11/2 universal year which is all about owning your authenticity and learning how to share it with others. Ironically, the number 2 relates to the Moon. In order for us to  own our authenticity, we must first get comfortable with the idea of confronting and sitting in our emotions- no matter how unpleasant they might be. The Moon is one of the fastest moving planets as it spends approx 2.5 days in each Astrology sign. Take this as a cue that while you may feel that you are on an emotional rollarcoaster this year, your ability to transmute your emotions into healthy positive changes will be heightened.

The Full Moon

On the day of the Full Moon we will have a grand trine with Jupiter, Mars, and Neptune- all emotional planets, which will help us to act on our feelings very easily. Mars will also be squaring the lunar nodes indicating that how we behave and respond to situations during the next two weeks will have some heavy duty karmic implications. The degree of the moon is 11, which is also the universal year we are entering in 2018. Once again the message is clear- You can get to know yourself better through your emotions. Master your emotions.

We can set material resolutions on the day of the Full Moon that has to do with how we wish to feel this year. This would be a great day to choose your power word for 2018. You may not begin to embody your power word until the Spring Equinox which is the energetic new year, and you will not see great spiritual changes until August 19 which is the spiritual new year.

Uranus stations direct on January 2nd, a day after this lunation, making it easy for us to act swiftly on our emotions. Look to see where Aries falls in your Astrology chart as this shows you the area where you can expect some breakthroughs.

The Full Moon will be a Super Moon meaning it will be closer to Earth. If you can, step outside and bathe yourself in its restorative moonbeams. Lunar light is believed to be more powerful than Solar light, as the Moon rules over both our mind and heart. When both are in sync, we have have the formula for manifestation.

Mama Moon

The Full Moon in Cancer wants us to be more Motherly to ourselves. Nurture yourself, be receptive and open to energies and support, and be the fierce and empowered person you are.

2018 is the Year of the Moon. Stay tuned, because I will be blogging about this important year in the coming days.

Full Moon in Pisces September 6, 2017: A Crystal Ball

Date: September 6, 2017

Moonbeams: Cosmic Clarity, Come gaze into my crystal ball……..

That which becomes real looking through a crystalline sphere swirling with cosmic stardust clouds using the Virgo tools of analysis to pick apart your vision which is already perfection.  We are all still reeling from the effects of the August Eclipses which many will feel up to 6 months. Every year we have an important lunation in Pisces in September to soften the rational energies of Virgo. Virgo processes all that we cannot see, and with its polarity being Pisces- that which we cannot see is actually crystal clear at this time.

Crystalline Knowledge of You

The Full Moon in Pisces will be conjunct Neptune adding a dreamy fog to this starry night. Active dreaming will be the easiest way to make it through the thick of the fog. Dreams might be coming true for you, psychic readings will be extremely accurate, intuitive abilities will be on point. What you are seeing at this time is your reality re-imagined through a Piscean crystal lense. The language of the universe are codes and symbols and what better time to decode all of these message than through some heavy Virgo energy this month. We must keep in mind that the ruler of Virgo- Mercury will be stationing direct in Virgo a day or so before the Full Moon and will be conjunct Mars for most of the month. Your processing abilities will be on fire, but in order to keep your mechanic self in check you must remember that the intuitive and fantastical downloads you are receiving at this time are already perfected. There’s no need to pick apart every little detail and try to make sense of what you are seeing and feeling. The energies at this Full Moon are simply fragments of knowledge about yourself that are appearing from a place of purity (Virgo) after the energetic portals we entered during the eclipses.  The Full Moon in Pisces is a crystal ball that contains your iridescent self and future. What will you see?

Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius- August 7, 2017: The Invention of You

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick

This is the story of an orphaned boy who lives in a Paris train station repairing the clocks. All he has is an Automaton his father left him before he perished in a fire. Hugo believes the Automaton (Aquarius) contains a message from his father but is missing a heart shaped key in order to unlock the message. Hugo is reclusive (Aquarius) and has no friends, but one day a chance meeting with a girl at the train station who happens to be wearing a heart (Leo) shaped key necklace sets them off on adventure to unlock the Automaton (Aquarius). Once the Automaton (Aquarius) is unlocked, it reveals an image of a scene from a film called ‘A Trip to the Moon’ (Eclipse). I won’t spoil the rest of the story, but I feel it is the perfect representation of this Aquarius Lunar Eclipse. Connecting to with others might very well be the key to the answers you seek. Bringing 3 unconnected parts of yourself together Unconscious (Moon) Practical (Earth) Higher Self (Sun) to create a master version of yourself is the greatest invention of all time.

Things are coming to a tail end (South Node) so to speak from the February eclipses. Eclipses are times of dramatic completions, and are vortices of manifestation.

A Lunar Eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Moon and Sun casting an earthly shadow on the Moon. The Moon represents our emotions, subversive nature, our unconscious, our happiness, and our incarnation imprint. When the Earth’s shadow eclipses the Moon- what we feel becomes grounded into practical reality. We take all of those elusive Moony qualities and turn them into the brick and mortar of our life.

The Full Moon Eclipse is occurring in Aquarius which rules the 11th house. The 11th house is connected to our peers, social groups, hopes, wishes, and our tribe. We will all be faced with the truth of whether we are sacrificing our identity to fit in, or are we soooo different that we are losing out on opportunities to connect? Aquarius rules all that is different, innovative, unique, inventive, surprises, and thoughtful. The negative expressions are detachment and irresponsibility. A key lesson to learn from the Eclipse is let go (South Node) of that which is inhibiting your progress (Aquarius) and to embrace that which will allow you to be YOU. The Lunar Eclipse is going to show you the full potential of your interactions with others- regardless of where this Eclipse is happening in your natal chart.

Jupiter in Libra which is all about meaningful connections will be trine this Eclipse suggesting that there is a need to widen your social interactions.

Mars in Leo Conjunct Sun in Leo- need to stand out. Remember- when you are yourself, everyone notices you!

New Moon in Leo July 23, 2017: Your Kingdom Awaits

Date: July 23, 2017

Moonbeams: Fire! Fire! Fire!

Degree- 0 Degrees of Leo

Aspects: Sun and Moon Conjunct Mars in Leo Square Uranus in Fire

The overall theme of this NM is self empowerment. Fire energy is activating, spontaneous, unpredictable, and fast. Just take a look at all of the fire energy present at this time.

Sun in Leo= Fire

Moon in Leo= Fire

Mars in Leo= Fire + Fire

Uranus in Aries= Fire

Mercury in Leo= Fire

The big theme of 2017 has been de-conditioning- letting go of the known in order to build your new foundation. But this has required a lot of soul searching, releasing, and re-evaluating. It has been an incredibly intense inner process. Fire energy on the other hand burns right to the heart (Leo) of the matter. It doesn’t require psycho-analysis or deep release work. All Leo wants you to do is to step into your Kingdom or Queendom by trusting the spontaneity of this time which manifests as instant presence.  Major changes are unfolding over the next weeks through activating passionate responses from you. There’s no more dillying dallying around things or needing to feel them out before you decide to act. Trust your initial responses at this time as 0 degrees of Leo marks an important creation point. Change can only occur when you yourself change.

Emotions will go unchecked which are a necessary part of change. This does not mean that you can be reckless or irresponsible with how you choose to react, rather the highest expression of Leo is inner truth. Observe your emotions from a place of neutrality in order for them to move through you and set fire to whatever needs to be activated at this time.

There’s no room for self pity or tears during these next 2 weeks. It’s time to strengthen your will, to stoke the fires of your soul by acting from a place of passion, as this is your truth, this is who you ARE without the illusory waters, hardened earth, or analytical air. Fire is uncontainable, it both destroys and creates at the same time, much like 2017 has been contradictory at times for us all.

Leo is connected to royalty because Kings amd Queens answer to nobody. They command presence through their stoic presentation. It’s time to come out of the shadows and embrace the crown. Your kingdom within awaits you.
