BLOG UPDATES

The season of Leo always brings changes to my identity and branding! I have decided to change some things around on this blog that will better reflect where I currently am on my path and where I am headed.

  1. I will be removing the Astro-Witchery section as I don’t actually perform rituals and don’t want this to become a Wiccan blog.
  2. I will be adding a new category called ‘Astrology Articles’ since all Astrology blogs are being categorized into my ‘Cosmic Forecasts’ heading.
  3. My ‘Miscellaneous’ category will be renamed ‘Mystical Articles’
  4. I will be adding a Freebies category where I will be offering free downloadable items such as e-books, desktop wallpapers, fact sheets, and so much more!
  5. I am also starting my training to be a Bach Flower Practitioner so I will be slowly adding relevant content to this blog as well.
  6. I might be removing the ‘Nakshatra’ series from my blog as I no longer want to focus on Vedic Astrology…more on this later.
  7. I will also be adding some cosmic stories about my personal experiences with different cosmic energies. I am hoping this will be a valuable instructional tool.
  8. I have also updated the About section on this blog with more facts about me!

Also please be sure to follow me on Instagram @theluminessence. I post a lot of interesting things about Astrology and mysticism on there that I haven’t blogged about.

Thank you for your continued support!

Lammas: Bun in the Oven

What is Lammas?

During August, the grain- the staff of life grows ready to harvest. The great goddess appears with her sickle. Her womb produces berries, fruits, grains, and the most potent herbs. Her companion the Sun God, no longer shows his gentle brightly radiating figure, he is now fiery, burns hotly, and is drying. The Celts called him Lugh, the smart and skillful god, the master of all arts, the Lion with the Quiet Hand. It is he who brings everything to fullness and ripeness with his flame and his wisdom. He symbolizes the receding year, the west where the Sun sets in red-hot embers. Under his reign the grain grows golden, the fruit becomes sweet and red yellow, the herbs become spicier and stronger than at midsummer. But the Sun god is also the ruthless harvester, the reaper, who finishes off the green and budding life with his heat. Lugh and the goddess of the Earth celebrated a wedding during the full moon of August and invited people to celebrate with them. The festival of Lugh was a fire festival during which huge piles of wood were ignited. This tradition endured among the insular Celts for many years. – From the book ‘Witchcraft Medicine’ by Claudis Muller-Ebeling, Christian Ratsch, & Wolf-Dieter Storl

There was also a more crude aspect to this festival involving the cutting up of a corpse, but I’ll spare you the gross details.

Lammas was the occasion for blessing all the herbs that would be needed during the coming year for health and well-being of the house and stable. It also made good sense to collect the herbs during the dog days of summer because the aroma, taste, and medicine are manifestations of the powerful light and warmth of vegetation. The Sun infused the herbs and plants with its healing rays.

The Wheel of the Year

The Pagan Wheel of the Year brings us now the harvest festival on August 1st known as Lughnasadh or Lammas as it is commonly referred to as.

If you have been following my Pagan Wheel of the Year journey, you will have seen that I have related the sabbats to the process of creation. The last point on our calendar was the Summer Solstice- Ensoulment, the time of the year where our creation was given a soul. Now we come to the harvest season, where we are offered the opportunity to reflect back on our journey and to see the fruits of our labour, and the wheat of our harvest.

Our creation has just entered the 7 month point. We are close to giving birth to our creation at the Winter Solstice. In a normal pregnancy, the 7 month point is when the Mother can start to feel anxious and excited. The due date is only 3 months away. What was created at Imbolc is now becoming a reality.

Astrology of Lammas

Astrologically, Lammas occurs when the Sun reaches 15 degrees Leo. This is the halfway point in a fixed sign, meaning the ability to rebirth ourselves is heightened. Leo connects to the heart chakra and the qualities of courage, gratitude, and abundance. Lammas is the perfect time to reflect on these themes and how they have showed up or not showed up in your life.

To go back to the myth of Lammas, the Celtic god of light- Lugh and son of the Sun, he transfers his power into the grain and is sacrificed when the grain is harvested. The art of creation is one of the most selfless acts we as souls can partake in because we ultimately do not know the outcome. Let’s not forget that a balanced Leo energy is selfless, and not selfish like how most of us have experienced Leo energy. Remember the myth of Lugh, the Sun God who chooses to set so the fruits and wheat can harvest is an example of selflessness that Lammas inspires.

Celebrate Lammas by doing an energetic detox. We can only best serve others when we ourselves are in a healthy state. An energetic detox is kick-started when you finally cut back on those sweets, or when you start exercising, or starting a gratitude journal. Our bodies have been imprinted with the spiritual rays of the Sun all summer and it is during Lammas and the month of August when we start to visibly notice less daylight. With all of the solar energy we have gathered, now is the time to commence the healing.

To Conclude…

For most of us in North America, August is not the time of year when we go out into the fields to harvest wheat, or start buying pumpkins, and corn husks to decorate our front porches. It’s still very warm. But there is a shift that happens, whereby, the fun times of the Summer are slowly winding down as parents start preparing their kids for back to school, and stores start their end of summer sales. Naturally, we all start to reflect on the previous months and start making plans for Autumn. Lammas is the perfect time to make a gratitude list and count your blessings.

A typical way to celebrate Lammas is to bake a loaf of bread using the wheat harvested in early August. We can equate this to baking the frequency we received at Imbolc in our own ovens- providing it with the right conditions so it can make the best of its last 3 months. Wheat symbolizes the spermatic power of the staff of life, thus nearing the end of the pregnancy, I suspect most people can appreciate the divine process of creation. The sperm is essentially in the process of being harvested at Lammas. I suppose this is where the saying “bun in the oven” comes from.

Emma Wheeler Wilcox has a beautiful poem that captures the energy of Lammas.

YOU NEVER CAN TELL

YOU never can tell when you send a word–
Like an arrow shot from a bow
By an archer blind– be it cruel or kind,
Just where it will chance to go.
It may pierce the breast of your dearest friend,
Tipped with its poison or balm;
To a stranger’s heart in life’s great mart
It may carry its pain or its calm.

You never can tell when you do an act
   Just what the result will be;
But with every deed you are sowing a seed,
Though the harvest you may not see. …………………………………………..Leo selflessness
Each kindly act is an acorn dropped
   In God’s productive soil;
You may not know, yet the tree shall grow
And shelter the brows that toil.

You never can tell what your thoughts will do
In bringing you hate or love;
For thoughts are things, and their airy wings
Are swifter than carrier doves.
They follow the law of the universe–
Each thing must create its kind;
And they speed o’er the track to bring you back
Whatever went out from your mind.

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse July 27, 2018: Bath Bomb

The triptych of this summer’s eclipses brings us to the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius. This will be the longest eclipse of this century, lasting 1 hour and 23 minutes. It will be visible everywhere except North America. Since it is the longest eclipse in 100 years, this speaks of very long-lasting changes coming to those parts of the world, which is in effect for the next 6 months. Even if you do not see the eclipse, you will still feel its energies.

This particular eclipse will be a total lunar eclipse because the South Node of the Moon which is currently at 5 degrees Aquarius will be conjunct the Moon at 4 degrees Aquarius making this a super tight conjunction. If it were a farther apart conjunction as we saw with the solar eclipse in Cancer a couple of weeks ago, it would have been a partial eclipse.

A full moon eclipse is a full moon on steroids. It speaks of major cycles wrapping up which also begin important new cycles. Eclipses are portals that accelerate us to where we need to be. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind Earth. This is about grounding important new energetic waves into our lives. It’s less about spiritual downloads and more about our tangible experiences being tested and transformed.

Blood Sucker

This particular full moon will also be a blood moon due to the reddish tinge that will cover the moon as its passing behind Earth’s shadow. Blood Moons have a long history with being connected to important biblical and world events, and I would recommend googling this for further information. This particular Blood Moon is ironic considering it will be a Martian lunar eclipse. I think of Blood Moons as frequencies that change the DNA of our karmic experiences. They are sort of like flabotumists who extract some of our blood for analysis. The Blood Moon is a way to deliver some brand new experiences on our karmic journeys that have waited for a specific divine time to do so. Remember, Mars has been conjunct the South Node of the Moon all summer. This conjunction has been about burning away the old and purging. The Blood Moon is now the time to welcome in the new. A new blood supply is coming.

A Boiling Water Vessel- The Aspects

Moon Conjunct Mars-   You will feel more passionate, angry, irritable, motivated, determined, and impatient

Mars Retrograde- Click here to read my detailed analysis of this aspect

Moon Square Uranus-   Impatient, spontaneous, feeling restricted

Moon Semi-Sextile Saturn-   Feeling committed to what it dear to your heart

Mars Square Uranus-   Breakthroughs

Saturn Trine Uranus-  Reset

I call these aspects “boiling the water vessel” because this is the symbol of Aquarius. The water bearer holds a massive vessel about to pour its cleansing waters on humanity. This is why Aquarius is associated with enlightenment & humanitarianism. With the super tight conjunction with Mars, it’s as though the water in the vessel is coming to a boil. The vessel is a kettle at this eclipse. The cleansing waters are cooking something new for all of us.

Aquarius is about doing things your own way. It’s about owning your individuality so you can be of better service to humanity. It’s the reset we need in order to be able to take the next big leap in our evolution. We can’t forget that the North Node of the Moon is in Leo, so the message is clear. We can’t continue to do things the old way anymore. It’s time to put on your crown.

The difficult aspects between Mars and Uranus can give the tendency to be reckless and foolish, so anything that you can do to calm yourself down will be extremely helpful at this time.

The most challenging aspect of this Lunar Eclipse is that we are being cosmically pushed to finally do what it is that we need to do. Look to see where Aquarius falls in your natal chart because this will give you clues as to what needs to be accomplished.

The Kozminksy symbol for this eclipse is:

4º Aquarius: A beautiful fountain throwing upwards delicate sprays of yellow-tinted water, a jeweled crown showing in the mists.
Denotes one of refined mind who is destined to advance and gain power and influence over others. He will bring relief to many a thirsty soul, and many will bless him as he passes by the way. He is humanitarian, sincere, romantic, and harmonious. The life is not free from danger until after the thirtieth year has passed. Thence his way is elevation and peace. It is a symbol of Defending.

This symbol is about defending your kingdom (Aquarius). We have the soldier Mars who is armed and ready to do whatever it takes to fulfill his orders from the Moon, Sun, & Nodes. He will assist us in winning our destiny. He will fight to the death. The glory is there just beyond the steam of the boiling water vessel.

To Conclude…

Treat this Lunar Eclipse as a hot soothing bath that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. It might sting a little at first, and you certainly don’t want to spend too much time in the tub for obvious health reasons, but after a while you get used to it, and it feels good. You drop in a bath bomb and the hot water activates it, unleashing its pretty goodness. Heat is healing, and this Lunar Eclipse has a lot of heat. Mars will drop his bomb in your hot bath with this eclipse. Be prepared for a multi-layered explosion of colour and fizz…. and how Aquarian is that.

What’s Your Astro Season?

I always feel melancholy when the warm weather arrives. It’s on days when it’s 30 degrees Celsius that are the worst. I feel like I’m suffocating. It’s sort of like a cosmic claustrophobia. The heat from the Sun possesses me. Hot weather drains my inspiration, while cold weather feeds me. I believe there is an Astrological explanation for all of this.

We all possess a certain dominant season within us that comes to life at its natural time of the year. Like clocks and calendars we have our own bio rhythm that either makes us dance when the music starts or forces us to sit on the bench. I only have 1 planet in a Summer sign and I have an awful relationship with that planet, it’s actually debilitated. Most of my planets are in Winter signs, and I normally don’t experience anything until the latter half of the year when the chilly weather arrives.

You will notice that you either bloom or wither away during your dominant season. Knowing your astro season can help you navigate the year. If you don’t have a dominant season, it just means you have a more balanced life.

Down below you will see the zodiac signs & their corresponding seasons.

Spring Signs– Aries, Taurus, Gemini

Summer Signs– Cancer, Leo, Virgo

Autumn Signs- Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius

Winter Signs- Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces

If you are in the Southern Hemisphere, you can always reverse this. It works just as well.
Let’s get back down to the “nature” aspect of Astrology. Excuse me while I zone out in this catatonic heat like fellow Winter/Cold dominant lady Elizabeth Taylor.

What’s your dominant season? Do you find your life takes off in those months? How do you feel? Comment down below!

New Moon Solar Eclipse July 12, 2018: Ghost in the Shell

The New Moon Solar Eclipse will be occurring in the zodiac sign of Cancer. It will be a preview of what’s to come when the nodal axis of the moon changes to Cancer-Capricorn later this year.

Eclipses are portals, passageways, gateways, and stargates that dramatically change our lives. The effects of an eclipse can be felt up to 6 months, however the first 3 months after an eclipse is usually when things will materialize. Eclipses bring fated events that align us to our path. This solar eclipse will only be a partial eclipse, so the effects will not be as nearly as intense as they would be during a total solar eclipse.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon moves between the sun and the earth, temporarily blocking the rays of the sun. During a partial solar eclipse, as is with this one, only part of the sun will be obscured. A solar eclipse happens only during a new moon when the moon is conjunct the north node. In our case, the North Node is in Leo at 5 degrees, while the New Moon is 21 degrees of Cancer. With the North Node and Moon being less than 17 degrees apart, this is considered a conjunction. Since it’s not a close conjunction, it’s a partial eclipse. If it was closer it would be a total eclipse.

The zodiac sign of Cancer has to do with nurturing, mothering, sensitivity, learning to emotionally mature, and the divine feminine. A solar eclipse will emphasize these Cancerian traits. The solar eclipse will be occurring on July 13th which is Friday the 13th. The number 13 is considered very lucky and is ruled by the divine feminine. This is reiterating the important themes around creation.

The Aspects

Pluto Opposition

Pluto will be opposing the eclipse which speaks of transformation and renewal. Pluto has a detaching influence because it requires us to release that which is not serving us. Cancer on the other hand, attaches itself to everything and everyone because it lacks awareness of self. This opposition is asking us to let go of unhealthy attachments that are separating us from our own truth.

Maybe you are holding onto an idea so tightly because you’re scared it will fail? Perhaps you are refusing to express a feeling to someone out of fear that you will get hurt or worse, hurt them? The lesson with the Pluto opposition to the Eclipse is that you can only feel safe and secure when you first remove the self inflicted fears you have been hoarding.

In a recent Instagram post, I discussed how a big theme for Cancerian energy in 2018 is about seeing people and situations for as they are, without clouding them with emotional judgments. Depending on where 21 degrees of Cancer falls in your natal chart, you will start seeing things in a very straightforward way during this Eclipse. Pluto is in the sign of Capricorn- which is a take it as you see it energy. It’s not about playing the victim and dis-empowering yourself. This is about standing firm in your emotions, knowing that your vulnerabilities are your strengths.

An evolved Cancer frequency contains infinite amounts of compassion and universal love. The lack of self awareness that haunts Cancer will be replaced with a universal awareness that will show us that everything is dependent on each other…that everything is connected. If you’re playing the victim, you will start to see how this has been shaping your life. This is how a needy Cancer evolves into a self sufficient Cancer, because the universe becomes their home and security rather than untrustworthy emotions.

Grand Water Trine

A trine between Neptune in Pisces, Jupiter in Scorpio, and the New Moon in Cancer is the apex of this solar eclipse. The water signs contain spiritual energies that shows that the transformation we will experience with the Pluto opposition will be of a spiritual nature.

Grand Earth Trine

A trine between Uranus in Taurus, Venus in Virgo, & Saturn in Capricorn shows us that the spiritual transformation we experience will be translated to concrete steps we can take to institute these changes.

Mars Retrograde

Mars will also be retrograde in Aquarius during the eclipse which also speaks of self-empowerment. I recently wrote a detailed blog all about this energy which you can read here.

Saturn Retrograde

Saturn is also retrograde in Capricorn at this time so use your words for good and not evil. You can read my blog about this transit here.

Neptune Retrograde

With Neptune being retrograde in a grand water trine during the eclipse, letting go of emotional baggage is key. Check out my blog about this transit here.

Chiron Retrograde

Chiron is retrograde in Aries which is making us reflect on where we are turning a blind eye. You can read more about this transit here.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

So most of you will be ghosts in shells once this eclipse is through.  A partial transformation on an emotional level is in store, that will come through spiritual insights which will directly change your reality. Keep in mind we have a total lunar eclipse on July 27th in Aquarius, and a partial solar eclipse in Leo on August 11th. So more change is coming. If you would like to know how this upcoming eclipse will affect you, check out my July monthly horoscopes for your Ascendant Sign forecast here.

Dispositors: The “Keys” of Your Horoscope Part I

What if I told you that there was a way to unlock the power of your planets? And what if this power could also lock your planets? Dispositors are the keys of your horoscope.

What is a Dispositor?

A dispositor is essentially the ruling planet of a planet. For example; if your Jupiter is in Leo, that means the Sun is the dispositor of your Jupiter. Essentially, the Sun rules your Jupiter. It does seem strange to have a planet rule a planet, however think of the dispositor as a ruling energy behind your planet. With the above example, we can see that in order to make the most of your Jupiter, you have to apply Solar energy to it. Jupiter is the planet of our highest moral expression. It’s the planet that rules over generosity, tolerance, philosophy, spirituality, morals, goodness, expansion, abundance, etc. Jupiter in Leo is about using your highest good to inspire others and to be dignified in your dealings. Since the Sun is the dispositor of this Jupiter, you must inspire others through your dignity.

So as you can see with the above example, the dispositor can give you so much more information about your planetary placements. In the example given, Jupiter in Leo requires sincerity and dignity. At the same time, the Sun as the dispositor of Jupiter can make the native self-serving and egotistical.

Tips

You also want to pay special attention to when the dispositor of your planet is transiting the sign it rules. For example, for the person with their Jupiter in Leo they will want to pay attention to what unfolds in their life when the Sun is transiting Leo. Something important in the realm of their Jupiter is sure to manifest.

Also pay attention to planetary friendships. For example, the Sun has a positive friendship with Jupiter, therefore, the influence of the native’s dispositor will be positive. Now if for example, Jupiter was in Libra, the dispositor for this Jupiter would be Venus since Venus rules Libra. Jupiter is an enemy to Venus because Venus is about material things while Jupiter rules over spiritual things. Therefore, we can deduce that Jupiter in Libra would be a weak position and the native would have to be extra careful not to be self-indulgent when seeking spiritual goodness. Since Jupiter is enemies with Venus, the native will struggle with incorporating the positive influence of Venus into its Jupiterian energy.

A Step Further

Using the above example again,  we know that Venus is the dispositor of Jupiter in Libra. If we would like to see how much influence the dispositor has, we can look at the placement of the dispositor. Let’s say that Venus is in Pisces. So while Jupiter and Venus have a negative relationship, Venus is the exalted in Pisces, thus the negative relationship between Jupiter and Venus can be minimized because Venus is in its strongest position.

The sign and house the dispositor is in will also add a flavour to the planet it rules. So for the Jupiter in Leo individual, their dispositor  is the Sun is in Virgo, so this means that if their goal is to inspire others through their dignity and sincerity, this needs to come through in a form of service, since Virgo rules service. Make sense?

Now if Jupiter in Leo is in the 3rd house, this shows that you like to communicate. However, because the dispositor, the Sun, is in your 4th house of family, you will want to bring the focus back to your family and home life  and communicate with them, because the focus will be on “serving your family” through having healthy communication. Jupiter in Leo in the 3rd like to brag,  but the native should be focused on the well-being of those inside the family, and perhaps using their family model as an example for others.

Also make note of any aspects being made from the dispostitor to the planet it rules. This will also affect the energies, either in a positive or negative way.

Final Dispositor

A final dispositor is when you have one planet in its own sign. You can’t have a final dispositor if you have more than one planet in the sign it rules. Look at your natal chart and see if you have this. Remember, you can only have one planet in its own sign in order to have a final dispositor.

The final dispositor in a chart is the overall ruling influence in the native’s life. No other planet can dispose of it. It’s an energy the native will have to wield, otherwise they will constantly run into road blocks. The final dispositor is the skeleton key of the horoscope, it is able to unlock all of the planetary energies. If for example Saturn is your final dispositor, you will have to apply patience, perseverance, and effort in all areas of your life.

If you don’t have a final dispositor, it means your life will be more varied.

Controversy

Some Astrologers are opposed to using the final dispositor when you have planets in mutual reception with each other. For example if your Jupiter is in Virgo, and your Mercury is in Sagittarius, you can’t have a final dispositor because Jupiter is in the sign of Mercury and Mercury is in the sign of Jupiter. The two would cancel each other out.

My Advice

Playing around with dispositors will enlighten the heck out of you. Your struggles and talents will be revealed. As well, if you have a difficult relationship with one of your planets, knowing the dispositor can show you what is making it difficult, and how you can overcome those problems.

I would say dispositors are somewhat of an advanced astrological technique because you must have a pretty good grasp of the archetypes in Astrology. Nonetheless, I encourage you to at least find the dispositor of  one of your planets which can reveal a lot about your personality in that specific context.

To Conclude…

Dispositors are keys that will help you open up or lock in certain energies and themes in your life.

I have a list of planetary friendships and a list of debilitated and exalted planetary positions if you are interested.

I hope this makes sense, and if you have any questions, please feel free to comment down below and I can assist you.

There might be a Part II…….

Full Moon in Capricorn June 28, 2018: A Golden Compass

Moonbeams: Heaviness & Anxiousness

Lesson to Learn: Stagnation is Preparation

The Aspects

The Moon forms a T-Square with the Sun, Moon, Saturn, & Chiron. We are feeling insecure and afraid. The Moon will be conjunct Saturn making it feel as though we are being weighed down by weights. A trine from Uranus is pushing us to look at our situation from a fresh perspective. New ways of doing things are very likely at this time. Mars has also just gone retrograde in Aquarius which is all about forging ahead with integrity. Being true to yourself without losing your objective.

“Live Your Life by a Compass and Not a Clock”- Stephen Covey

Did you know a compass will always tell you the truth? If you know what direction you need to go in, it will always give you the correct answer. Saturn is the lord of time and his conjunction with the Full Moon can make it feel as though time has stopped moving. We are being given an incredible two weeks from the cosmos to get our bearings before the craziness of July’s two eclipses begin. Great change is always preceded by a period of stagnation. The great thing about this lunation is that we have the supportive influence of Uranus which will help us decide what direction we need to go in. This direction might entail removing some people from your life, or it might entail speaking up for yourself. Whatever it might be, now is the perfect time to take a moment and check in with yourself. The square to Chiron can make us feel depressed, but depression is a deep hurt from something in the past. The trine to Uranus can make us feel anxious, which is a deep longing for something you don’t have. Treat your insecurities and fears as a golden compass that is pointing you towards areas where you need to grow.

“What lies before us and what lies behind us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Mars Retrograde & South Node Conjunction 2018: Serpentine Fire

Mars will be conjunct the South Node of the Moon off and on from June until the Autumn which will create a very intense summer with some hot potential for transformation. Mars will also be retrograde for a while which is a rare occurrence for the red planet. Let’s take a closer look.

Mars Retrograde

Mars will be retrograde on June 26th until August. This is the first time in 47 years that Mars has been retrograde in Aquarius. Mars officially moved into Aquarius on the same day Uranus ingressed into Taurus in May. In the last week of July, Mars will also be at its brightest in 60 000 years.

Once every 2 years, Mars goes retrograde which makes the planet appear as though it is moving backwards in the sky. It does not actually move backwards, it is more of an optical illusion. Mars will revisit the degrees it traveled when it was moving direct, so we have the opportunity to put right or make wrong what we’ve already experienced.

Mars is a masculine archetypal planet that has a lot of power for the next few months, and will set the stage for the next 2.5 years. Mars will be retrograde in the sign of Aquarius which is adding a mind opening flavour to this transit.

Aquarius is the archetype of the revolutionary, the eccentric, the detached, the inventor, the thinker, and the cosmic bohemian. Mars will be emphasizing the light and shadow aspects of this sign, inflaming issues around abandonment, the role of men, and recklessness.

Aquarius

Aquarius is an archetype that is emotionally disconnected from the human experience. It spends way too much time pondering and not enough time present. The inventor, thinker, and scientist, all devote their time and life to the intellectual experience which has its good points.

Mars in Aquarius will push you towards experiencing a fresh, new, and innovative way of living your life, specifically in the Aquarius ruled house of your natal chart. It’s a consciousness expanding energy that will make you feel fed up with following the status quo and listening to others tell you what to do.

Mars Conjunct the South Node

Mars will also meet with the South Node of the Moon in Aquarius 3 times this year. The first conjunction occurred earlier this month on June 7th before Mars turned RX. The next two conjunctions will be July 20th, and September 25th at 7-4 degrees of Aquarius. Mars conjunct the South Node is the placement for burning away the old, and starting a new karmic cycle. On a more mundane level, this placement will create more violence, danger, aggression, injuries, altercations, and the potential for war or terrorism.

The South Node of the Moon is the tail of the dragon, while the North Node is the head of the dragon. The South Node represents losing something, endings, what we have to let go of in order to evolve, and past life karma. When Mars meets up with this point, we have a strong selfish desire to push forward with our lives, to make a drastic change, and to leave the old behind in favour or something that is more aligned to our purpose.

This conjunction will play out in a few different ways depending on your own personal planets, but here is how you might feel.

-Unsettled

-Extra annoyed

-Impulsive

-Alienated

-Instigating

-Lacking empathy

-Afraid

Blistered and Burned

What will first happen when Mars meets up with the South Node is the need to confront your deepest fears. This does not necessarily mean they will come true, but you will definitely have a taste of it.  Mars in Aquarius is rebellious and reckless while the SN in Aquarius is about moving away from collective control. When you bring Mars & the SN together you get a dangerous combo that makes you feel invincible. You will be excreting your fears out of every pore so blisters are inevitable. When you’re able to talk about what you’re afraid of, suddenly you’re not so afraid of it anymore.

Some of you might be feeling very calm during this transit which indicates that you’ve already done a lot of work. Some of you will be feeling low. Either way, retreating from the world is what most people will be doing. Purging & burning away the old to welcome in the new sounds all fine and dandy, but it’s easier said than done. Fires are brutal, especially when they destroy your life and long-term plans (Aquarius). This conjunction is a reset, a forest fire that has scorched some part of your life to be reborn. It’s scary, but required. Drink lots of water, cry, & release pent-up emotions. Avoid fanning the fires by intellectualizing your pain and confiding in others who have their own issues to deal with. Working with the Water element will help and not Air.

What Does This All Mean?

Mars Retrograde in Aquarius will push you to reinvent yourself. It’s time to take a new direction and to not be a bystander in your own life anymore. Mars will help you to open up your mind and do what works for you regardless of what other people think.

Mars Retrograde conjunct the South Node in Aquarius is about deconditioning. We have to embrace our individuality and not get suckered into going along with the masses, the sheep, or our third dimensional reality. This conjunction will allow us to evolve from outdated ways of doing things. Many of you will be saying goodbye to friends and associates who are no longer in alignment with you. Let’s see how this will play out on a practical level…

-Transformation of your tribe

-Speaking your truth loud and proud

-Decisiveness

-Believing in yourself more than ever

Keep in Mind….

Transformation is a gradual process, so if you don’t have any planets from 1-8 degrees of the Fixed signs- Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio you will find yourself being more mouthy and aggressive which is a good indication that something is brewing with your personal power.

I will be doing a forecast for each of the 12 zodiac signs for this Martian energy in the coming days so stay tuned for that.

This Girl Is On Fire

We need to act fearlessly but not recklessly. We need to be bold but not overbearing. We need to speak our truth and not yell it. We need to open our minds and not misshapen it. We need to be decisive and not stubborn.

Fires create but they also destroy. We can only welcome in the new when we let go of the old. The Serpentine Fire this summer is bringing the water from the water bearer Aquarius to a boil. Before we can enjoy the meal we first have to cook it, and that takes heat.

Good luck!

Summer Solstice: Ensoulment

We continue on our spiritual journey of the Wheel of the Year with Litha, the Summer Solstice. The Summer Solstice marks the point in the year when we have the longest day and the shortest night.

Sol

The last major point on the Wheel of the Year was Beltane, the moment when we felt the first heartbeat of our solar initiate who will be given birth to at the Winter Solstice. We have now reached the solstice when the Sun stands still from which it will continue to wane. It is at this moment that the Sun penetrates the cosmic womb, gifting the frequency with a soul. It is a combining of the divine light with the divine within. It is an ascension of spiritual growth.

Ensoulment is when a fetus has a soul.  Different Religions have varying views on this, but it was Aristotle who believed that the fetus receives a soul approximately 90 days into the pregnancy. From the moment the gestation period began at the Spring Equinox (Ostara) to the Summer Solstice, we have reached approximately 90 days. So we can assume that our frequency of the year receives its divine consciousness at the Summer Solstice. Remember, the latin word for Sun is Sol which becomes the word Soul.

Sun & Moon

The Sun beats down on the Northern Hemisphere on June 21st, soaking us in its spiritual rays. They are encoded with receptors that are used to recognize the divinity within all things sort of like stamping life with their divine statuses.

The Sun enters the Tropical sign of Cancer on June 21st who is the highest octave of motherly love. Imagine the Solstice as a great big hug from the divine feminine. On this day when we celebrate the peak of solar energy, we are also honouring the ruler of Cancer the Moon. After the Solstice the Sun begins turning back and the lunar energies emerge. We say goodbye to untamed individuality and welcome the new identity the soul signature of each individual…even if they are in the womb. One month later the Sun enters Leo which is the time to honour our inner radiant glory.

To Conclude…

Celebrate the Summer Solstice by bathing yourself in the Sun’s light which can reactivate your soul signature. Know that the solar frequency that was released at the Winter Solstice is receiving its divine task on this day of Litha. Ensoulment begins.

Neptune Retrograde June 18, 2018- November 24, 2018: Let it Go!

Neptune goes retrograde every year for approximately 160 days, so it’s not as rare as a Mars or Venus retrograde. We are given a reality check every year with its cycle and that’s definitely not a bad thing. Could you imagine if we were in a constant dream like state? We need Neptune RX no matter how confrontational it might be.

How it Feels

Imagine trying to run really fast in a swimming pool. You can’t do it. The water holds you back, your legs feel heavy, maybe even your feet slip on the bottom of the pool. There’s a heaviness that comes around with Neptune RX. The drifting energy is replaced with anchors tied to your feet. You are forced to confront reality as you know it. This is why you might feel stuck or scared.

The Nature of Neptune

Neptune dissolves boundaries. It is the process of dissolution that creates the dream airy fairy nature we most associate with this planet. It’s like life takes on a grainy image. Something is not working yet your mind can play all sorts of tricks on you making you see different shapes and symbols in the process. Where ever Neptune sits in your natal chart is where you have to learn to let go of the false structure that you have created in that area of your life. It’s the area where you delude yourself and what you are afraid of losing the most. Neptune RX will erase your grainy vision, collapse the false structures, and force you to confront your fears.

Neptune Retrograde 2018

Neptune turned Retrograde on June 18th and will remain so until November 24th. This year’s RX will be supported by a Grand Water Trine with Mercury in Cancer, Jupiter in Scorpio, and Neptune in Pisces. This triangulation of energy will support us in owning up to our deceptions no matter how much Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn and Mars and the South Node conjunction will try to boss us around.

Advice

Saying goodbye is hard and change is uncomfortable. Neptune Retrograde teaches us to take off the rose-coloured glasses and see our creations for the good, the bad, and the ugly. Neptune in Pisces is about embracing the void- that membrane where life eludes us, where we lack a reference to understand its meaning. Neptune RX heightens this feeling so depending on which house Pisces rules in your own chart, you are going to feel a lack of control and emptiness there. It is when we lack something that we learn the most about ourselves and appreciate the journey of life more than ever before.  This is the ultimate form of simplicity and authenticity which are the basic archetypal energies of Neptune and Pisces.

It’s time to power wash your psyche by acknowledging that you don’t really know what’s best for you, otherwise Neptune would not have to take us out of our ignorance every year. Neptune RX in Pisces is a deconditioning process that teaches us how to let go and surrender.

The greatest lesson that Neptune Retrograde will teach us according to Democritus is that “we know nothing in reality for truth lies in an abyss.”
