New Moon in Pisces March 17, 2018: Rear Window

Our final New Moon before the Cosmic New Year is starting off with a bang! There is a build up of tension right now as you are itching for something new and yet it’s taking its sweet Pisces time. This is a unique NM because it has happening just a couple of days before the Spring Equinox. We have an ending and beginning together- it feels like you are looking through your rear window into your front window. New things are coming, but you can’t seem to grasp it yet.

What is New Was Once Old

The New Moon is taking place in the Nakshatra of Purva Bhadrapada- the feet of the funeral cot.
The energy here is asking you to leave behind the old in favour of the new. We need to be looking at the glass as half full and not empty.
A New Moon in Pisces is always tricky because we have foot in the past and one foot in the future. I have noticed people who have this natal placement struggle with change as they are too attached to the past and usually experience things in their life that forces them to detach from their known identity. I happened to be born on a New Moon in Pisces so I definitely know how it feels to be looking both ways at once.
Grace Kelly was born on a New Moon in Pisces in the Nakshatra of Purva Bhadrapada and her life story is a classic example of how these energies can play out. She was a successful Hollywood actress who was forced to give up her career for her new royal title of Princess of Monaco. Her acting career haunted her throughout her royal life as it was believed she never quite got over her retirement. She made the best of her royal career by playing her most important role yet- the role of Princess of Monaco.
Case in point- if you feel a sense of anxiousness about letting go of the past and what awaits you after the Spring Equinox, know that you have created a firm emotional foundation this year with all of the Pisces energy we experienced thus far which will carry you into your next phase.

Rear Window
Rear Window, the Hitchcock suspense film that was career defining for Grace Kelly is the perfect New Moon in Pisces metaphor. It’s helpful to look out your rear window every now because you never know what you might see. Our past informs our present which dictates our future. At the end of the film, James Stewart was able to catch the murderer because he looked out his rear window into the lives of his neighbours. Look back on your past at this New Moon, because it will tell you a lot about what’s to come and will minimize feelings of frustration.

The Aspects:
We have some intense action with Mars which shows an inner frustration with how little is manifesting for you right now.

A semi sextile to Uranus suggests looking at things from a different perspective by paying extra close attention to omens at this lunation.

Mars trine Uranus will help to combat some of the frustrations you have by helping you to think differently about your situation.

Magical Healing by Hexe Claire- REVIEW

What first drew me to this book was the element of folk magic and healing. As someone with a European background, I was interested to learn more. I am also familiar with Hexe Claire’s Youtube videos on Lenormand cards, so I knew her book would be informative.

Magical Healing includes chapters on when the best time is to heal according to the days of the week, which gods and goddesses to call upon, and how to protect yourself during the process and much more. I must say none of the above mentioned healing techniques are unique to German folk medicine. If you are well versed in Wicca or Paganism, then you will already have a very good grasp of these. I enjoyed the chapter on ‘Healing Techniques’ that were specific to folk healing such as blowing, spitting, egg applications, and so forth. The chapter that really got to the heart of folk healing was the chapter on spells and powerful words. When I think of folk medicine, I think of magic mixed with superstition and this is what was laid out in this chapter. There are spells on how to treat burns, spells for cold and fevers, disjointed bones, eczema, and so much more. These spells don’t require additional tools, just a strong belief that they will work. Hexe mentions throughout this chapter that she has recited these short little spells when she has injured herself, and miraculously healed as a result. The accomanying chapters provide information on healing herbs and stones, once again, nothing goundbreaking, although the chapter on stones looked at fossils as opposed to your typical crystals which was unique and refreshing.

Overall I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t as much folk magic included as I thought there was going to be, however, I think this was a safe first attempt that would not be intimidating or irresponsible for the readers to use.

My Favourite MOVIES About TIME

Something has happened to time. Last week the days felt out of order……..

Mercury and Venus both entered Aries from being in Pisces, and I have noticed when ever we shift from Pisces to Aries we experience a dimensional shift. We’re crossing thresholds and jumping timelines.

I thought I would share my fave movies about the concept of TIME.

Somewhere in Time

My goodness, I truly feel it is one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever seen on film. I won’t give away the plot, but let’s just say that love transcends time, and that we’re all here to experience unconditional love. This story was beautiful as it was told from a man’s point of view, which was refreshing, as I think cinema has been known to distort the love that a man can have for the woman he loves. From the reviews I’ve read of this film, many men could relate to Christopher Reeve’s character.

What really makes my heart flutter, is the possibility that your soul mate may have lived in another era, or that one day, you will encounter this soul.

I highly recommend you watch this film if you love romance, period pieces, and beautiful costumes and music. In fact, there is even a big fan club dedicated to this film.

If you believe in the divine timing of all things, make time to watch this romantic story.

Winter’s Tale

A heart-wrenching love story set during the early 20th century New York. There’s demons, the cosmos, spirit animals, romance, and reincarnation. A gorgeous blend of fantasy and romance that will make you believe that love never dies.

The Time Traveler’s Wife

A man pops in and out of his lover’s life from the time she is a little girl until the time he is an old man. A story about jumping timelines all for the sake of love. The chemistry between Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana is passionate and will certainly make you tear up at points and make you believe that love has no time limit.

The Age of Adaline

Blake Lively plays a young woman who experiences a near death cosmic event that prevents her from aging. She has trouble sustaining a relationship because of this and as a result, tells a beautiful story about risking everything for love.  Time stands still when you fall in love.

In Time

An interesting story about time as currency and what people are willing to risk to acquire more time.

I am a hugge film lover, so if you would like to see more movie recommendations, please comment down below!

Full Moon in Virgo March 1st 2018: Separating the Wheat from the Chaff

Moonbeams: Discernment, Materialization, Healing

Major Lesson to be Learned: Being of service to your higher self by grounding its energies into practical reality

Challenge to Overcome: Not wanting to take a hard look at yourself without your rose coloured glasses on.

The Moon will be putting on her spectacles and rolling up her sleeves during this lunation. There are 4 planets in Pisces- Sun, Neptune, Mercury, & Venus which is imbalancing the Virgo Pisces axis to an extreme. Having such a strong conglomerate of Piscean energy will require la luna to put forth some extra efforts and put on her high beams in order to see through the ethereal mist.

Like a Virgo

Virgo is an earthy sign that is methodocial, organized, self sacrificing, and analytical. It’s staring at all this mystical energy plotting how to fix it. On the other hand, Pisces is a sign of mysticism, surrender, dreams, and emotions. It’s staring at Virgo charming and luring it away from a place of rigidity to a place of flow.

Virgo Full Moons are our opportunities to clean up the Virgo ruled area of our lives. We have 1 full moon in this sign every year and every year I usually see a lot of people decluttering, cleaning, organizing, and revamping their lives. This is Virgo’s ‘sacred work.’ Being of service to yourself and humanity through letting go of material fixations and focusing on how you can help others from a place of true sincerity and humility. When a Virgo is able to properly harmonize its Piscean energy, we can see some beautiful practical magic unfold.

Sacred Work involves applying the 3 ways of the Virgo Pisces axis. Here are 3 ways to work with the energies of this moon.
1. Intuition Precision
Have you ever wondered how it is that Virgo’s always seem to know how to plot their next move? As someone with a few Virgo’s in my family, I can honestly say that I have rarely seen them take a misstep. It’s like they can envision exactly how something is going to play out. This is because Virgo’s more than any other sign, trust their intuition. They rely on their hunches and gut feelings as a navigational tool. Being an earth sign, they will follow through on their feelings and take action. It is this precision intuition that will be illuminated for us during this full moon. Trust your instincts and use the Virgo ability to ground those instincts into reality.
2. Making the Mystic Realistic
This actually happens to be my motto and the motto for this blog. Ironically, I started this blog during the Virgo Pisces axis of 2015, so it makes perfect sense. The Virgo Moon is analyzing all of the Pisces energy and is deciding what you can realistically manifest, and what needs to go. For example, you might have been dreaming about having this amazing perfect job, and yet you haven’t taken any practical steps to acquire that job. The Virgo Moon will tell you to hold on to that dream, but to start putting out resumes and do some networking. Or perhaps you have been fantasizing about getting married and starting a family. The Virgo Moon might completely discard this fantasy because you are not in the right place for that and should be focusing on other things in your life right now. Essentially, this full moon will be giving you a reality check in the Virgo Pisces axis area of your life. It’s not about discarding all of your dreams, since Virgo knows that dreams are the architecture of your reality, rather, she wants too ensure that you are healthy and not obsessing over things that are not “serving” you.
3. Feeling is Healing
This is probably the toughest job for Virgo and one that will be the most uncomfortable during this full moon. Virgo’s are known to be quite cranky and moody and this is because they like to keep all of their emotions stored up inside. They are very afraid of vulnerability and the Piscean void of being open and receptive. Virgo’s will store their pent up feelings inside and these feelings get stored in the sacral chakra- the bowels, intestines, liver, and sexual organs. We know energetically that if you are constipated, or are too regular, or are feeling more depressed and anxious- the above mentioned areas will not be functioning properly due to a build of up of emotions. Remember, Virgo rules the bowels, so it tends to have issues digesting its feelings. With such a heavy emphasis on Pisces energy at this time, we will be feeling extra emotional. You want to be careful that you are not suppressing your emotions, but are finding ways to release them. Go for a walk, do some exercise or yoga, meditate, walk barefoot through the grass, cry, do anything that will help to ground you. Virgo is the sign of the harvest so we have an interesting energetic portal opening up for us at this time. Full Moons wrap up cycles, usually two week cycles, but I would go further back and say this moon is wrapping up what began during our New Moon in Virgo back on September 19, 2017. What did you experience back then? With a harvest moon occuring right before Spring, there is a need to release and discern what is healthy for us and what is making us sick. We all know Virgo is the sign of health and healing, so use this Full Moon to listen to your body.
There has been a lot of hype about this lunation for the simple fact that we have a stellium in Pisces. We cannot discount Pisces energy as being illusory and useless, we have to honour all of its magical gifts by using its Virgo opposition to materialize it. This is why the Full Moon in Virgo is about ‘separating the wheat from the chaff’ the most sacred work there is.

Occulture by Carl Abrahamsson: REVIEW

The title says it all. Exploring the occult through popular culture and history. This is not the occult that we have come to understand, but rather occulture as in a post-modern movement. This is why I finished this book scratching my head. I was hoping for an exploration or uncovering of secret symbolism throughout popular culture, but instead received some lectures about the driving forces behind everything from Counter-Culture to Freud, from Dreams to the Media. These driving forces were explained from a philosophical and sociological angle, so I do feel a proper explanation of the “occult” was missing. Ironically, popular culture has distorted the occult to the point where we assume it is merely about magic and spells, but neglects to inform us of its psychological components- such as free will, cause and effect, intention, and individuation. This is where the author does a great job at exploring those components but neglects to actually explain what occulture actually is? Is it a corrupted esoteric lifestyle? Is it a desensitized trend? I would recommend placing the conclusion ‘Intuition as a State of Grace’ at the beginning of the book because it actually concisely summarized the contents of the book. This is a book I will read over and over again, hoping some of its content can actually sink in. If you would like to twist your brain and go on a mind bending journey through the underpinnings of society, this is a must read. I wouldn’t recommend this book if you are fairly new to exploring the occult, as your preconceived notions of it will surely be obliterated which you might find to be empowering or devastating.

New Moon Solar Eclipse February 15, 2018: Back to the Gypsy that I was…

The Solar Eclipse in Aquarius will see our consciousness obscured by our mind and deep emotions. Our shadows are coming out full force and we will find ourselves focusing on all of our insecurities. We are feeling impatient, annoyed, used and abused. Highly evolved Aquarian energy fully surrenders to its divine plan by expressing its creative genius. This is the raw undoctored part of our self that represents our inner Sun. When we are authentically living, we can humbly serve the greater good of humanity. The Aquarius water-bearer is able to pour the water out of its vessel because he has cleansed himself of the external (Leo), the basic primal needs and desires of the ego. He has become an Angel, ready to serve. How can you give if your vessel is empty? If you are feeling overwhelmed by a sense of lack during this eclipse, ask yourself if these insecurities are really about You, or are they really about the ego? You can best serve your greater good when you come to understand that you are never empty. You have everything that you need when you need it. If you are wanting a relationship, be present in the relationship with yourself. If you hate your job, be a better employee to your higher self. If you feel scared, tell yourself you feel excited since fear is anticipation in disguise. When you start serving your higher self, you give to the world. We have a drought of conscious people right now, which is why we need more Aquarian souls to start drenching the collective with high vibes. Fill yourself up with humility and gratitude and the overflow will nourish everything you wish to magnetize. Water doesn’t repel, it heals.

The eclipse will be occurring on the South Node of the Moon which rules over our karma and the past. An Aquarius South Node will release all that is preventing us from living authentically. Aquarius energy is a freedom fighter, wanting to break free from safety and the status quo to follow its heart (Leo North Node). Consider this eclipse to be liberating and empowering. You’ll realize just how controlled and restricted you have been in the Aquarius ruled house of your chart. With the eclipse conjunct Mercury, there is a need to communicate your freedom and in typical Aquarian unpredictable fashion, expect the unexpected. A square to Jupiter indicates that self-respect is needed at this time so you don’t make a mess of things. Moderation and consideration for others is important. This is reiterated with the eclipse conjunct the asteroid Juno. Juno is an asteroid of marriage, and while marriage news and wedding talk might be more pronounced at this time, it will be the coming together of your higher self with your external reality that will be the ultimate union.

Song of the Eclipse: Gypsy by Fleetwood Mack

The lyrics to this song exemplify the energy of this eclipse. it’s about being struck with the realization that we are all gypsies at heart- following the call of a divine plan, even without knowing its destination.

So I’m back to the velvet underground
Back to the floor that I love
To a room with some lace and paper flowers
Back to the gypsy that I was
To the gypsy that I was
And it all comes down to you
Well, you know that it does, well
Lightning strikes maybe once, maybe twice
Oh and it lights up the night
And you see you’re a gypsy
You see you’re a gypsy
To the gypsy
That remains
Her face says freedom
With a little fear
I have no fear
I have only love
And if I was a child
And the child was enough
Enough for me to love
Enough to love
She is dancing away from you now
She was just a wish
She was just a wish
And her memory is all that is left for you now
You see you’re a gypsy, oh
You see you’re a gypsy
Ooh ooh, oh oh, oh oh oh
Goodness strikes
Maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you
Ooh oh, and it all comes down to you
Lightning strikes
Maybe once, maybe twice (oh)
I still see your bright eyes, bright eyes
(And it all comes down to you)
Songwriters: Stevie Nicks
Disclaimer: I am aware that the term ‘Gypsy’ is offensive, however in the context that I am using it, it’s merely a way to describe a Bohemian spirit.

New Venus Cycle February 2018

The Venus Evening Star 2018

Venus became visible on February 7, 2018 and will remain visible until November 2018. Planets have the ability to appear invisible and visible depending throughout the year, depending on their path in the sky. Venus was invisible from the beginning of December 2017 until the end of January 2018 which made all Venusian things very difficult to manifest. Women were cranky, food lacked flavour, relationships were more challenging, clothes didn’t fit right, etc. With Venus becoming visible as an evening star, we can expect all of the above mentioned things to manifest much more easily.

Venus goes through 19 month phases where she rises in the daytime or she rises in the evening. Both phases bring fated events to women and affects every aspect of their lives. It’s important to know where your own natal Venus is placed in order to know what specific things in your life will manifest, however, because Venus rules women- every woman will experience the blessings of her energies during these next nine months.

This year, Venus will appear as an evening star in the sign of Aquarius. Aquarius is the sign of visions, inspiration, eccentricity, groups, and spirituality. We can expect women to be more spiritual as fated karmic events will happen, and you will find yourself wanting to socialize more and perhaps buy more crystals and oracle cards.

Venus in Aquarius as an evening star is the archetype of the Soul Sister. She wants to live life as a bohemian- spending the day lounging in a field of flowers while tufts of incense smoke impregnate the ether with philosophical ideas and artistic visions. On a more practical level, you will be much more inclined to want to join groups of like minded people and live your life on your own terms.

Find your tribe and enjoy the initiation into this mystical new time.

What we can expect with Venus as an Evening Star:

More Romance

Pleasant disposition

Food will be more flavourful

More interest in Fashion- you’ll want to wear high heels as opposed to flats

You will be more attractive

Less arguments amongst women- conversations will be smoother

You’ll be in the mood for shopping

If you would like to make the most of the powerful Venusian energies coming through this year, here are some folk magic tips to help you harness her special energies.

  1. Clean your house

Venus rules the house, so you will want to ensure it is neat and tidy. Vacuum, dust, mop, and declutter. It is believed that when the home is dirty, all Venusian things in your life also become dirty, meaning they have trouble expressing their positive qualities. Venus also rules mirrors (did you ever notice the glyph for Venus looks like a hand-held mirror?). Clean all of your mirrors and replace any that are scratched or dated.  Venus rules specifically the bedroom and the south-east corner of your home, so make sure those areas are sparkling!

  1. Wear Green and Pink

The colour green is ruled by Venus because she rules the heart and the heart chakra is the colour green. Green is also the colour of money and abundance along with  nature- all of which Venus rules. She also rules the colour Pink- colour of love and femininity. By wearing both of these colours (not necessarily at the same time) you are magnetizing all Venusian things to you.

  1. Wear a Copper Ring

Copper is an element ruled by Venus. Copper is highly conductive representing the receptive nature of the feminine. Copper is known to absorb water and fluids changing its form and colour which relates to the divine feminine. Women retain more fluids than men and we have the ability to synthesize our emotions much easier than men. Copper is abundant in female sexual organs (ruled by Venus) and is used up during sexual activity. The peacock- a bird sacred to Venus, owes its greenish plumage to its high Copper content. The bluish coppery colouring in crystals such as Malachite, Azurite, Peacock Ore, & Bornite are all Venus ruled and have a feminine sound to their names. Wearing a copper ring is believed to attract a partner and Venusian energies to the wearer. Wear a copper ring on your left ringer to bring forth a relationship.

  1. Put Sugar in Your Garden

Sugar like all other sweet foods are ruled by Venus along with gardens and flowers. Take a spoonful of sugar and bury it in your garden. Treat this as an offering to Venus and ask for Venusian blessings in your life when you do this. A Friday evening will be the best time to perform this mini ritual.

  1. Beauty Tricks

Venus rules the eyes as they are the most commented on feature for women. Wear bluish or greenish eyeshadow to help activate your own Venus. The Ancient Egyptians knew this, which is why they used crushed malachite (a copper based crystal) for eyeshadow. Place a piece of Rutilated Quartz under your pillow at night to make your hair more luxurious. Rutilated Quartz is also known as Venus’ Hair due to the golden needles found in this stone. The ancients believed that Venus had curly golden hair.

Remember to put your heart into all of these little tricks and Venus will reward you, as she loves receiving gifts.
