Saturn in Capricorn December 21 2017-2020: Ain’t No Mountain High Enough!

Saturn is about to transition into the sign of Capricorn on December 21 and will remain there until 2020. Many have already been feeling this transition as Saturn- planet of karma is a very dense energy.  You will feel a lightness in the house where Saturn has been during the past 2.5 years. It will be as though a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. You will also have restructured that area of your life.

Saturn in Capricorn

Since Saturn is Capricorn’s ruler, Saturn will be comfy and cozy in this sign. He will be able to easily manifest and work his magic because his energies are very compatible with Capricorn. They both love structure, responsibility, hard work, and success.

The area of your life ruled by Capricorn will be undergoing many changes. Saturn in Sagittarius was about over hauling your belief system regarding the Sagittarius ruled area of your life. Saturn in Capricorn will now force you to act practically with this new found direction. Some questions you might want to ponder are:

What steps can I take to achieve my desired success?

What is the biggest responsibility I have to myself?

How do I need to mature?

What should I keep doing and what should I be stopping?

The Occult Sun

Saturn’s responsibility is to empower you to manifest the gifts of the house it rules. Many associate this planet with restrictions and limitations, but this only comes about when you resist its power of change. Restructuring things are always uncomfortable at first but the more you are able to surrender to it’s energies, the more successful you will be.

In ancient Astrology Saturn was known as the occult sun. This is because Saturn brings to light everything that is not working in specific areas of your life. It is a source of illumination. How can we improve our lives if we are not willing to confront the issues and problems that are hindering our progress?

Put a Ring On It.

Saturn transits are always times of great awakenings. His rings bind you to the energies of the house he is moving through. This is why Saturn rules contracts and business alongside Capricorn. When the energies of the house have come full circle, he naturally moves on to the next area of your life. He is a slow moving planet that helps us focus on the present which allows us to make better decisions without taking unnecessary risks.

Venus in Copper

Since discovering Venus is my soul planet I have been on a mission to learn everything I can about this beauty of a planet.  I recently learned that Copper is ruled by Venus for a variety of reasons.

Venus & Copper

According to Homer, Aphrodite (Venus) was born from the blue green waves of the Mediterranean coming ashore in her golden reddish brownish hair as depicted by Botticelli. Take a second and scry a piece of Copper and see if you can witness the warm glow of Venus.

Venus was born on the island of Cyprus where we get the word Copper- Latin word for Cyprus is Cuprum which comes from the Assyrian word for Copper- Kipar. Copper is soft and malleable embodying the divine feminine principle.

The Glyph

If we look at the glyph for Venus we can see the Sun-circle rising above the cross showing an infusion of solar power. In Alchemy it is believed we each possess the planets within us, so the Sun is representative of consciousness rising above earth which is seen in the lower part of the Venus glyph. Venus as a planetary archetype is about moving matter to perfection and beauty- the only way we can do this is by raising our vibrations over the material desires of Earth.

The earliest form of Venus was the Egyptian ankh, symbol of universal life; the egg-shaped womb of the goddess, the place where life is generated, surmounting the cross of the elements. This womb from which the sun emerges is represented by the copper cauldron of alchemy. Christianity removed the womb egg from the cross- only leaving the material cross of unbalanced matter left.

On a side note, the Venus glyph also looks like a hand held mirror which is due to Venus ruling vanity and beauty. The traditional hand held mirror evolved from the Ankh.

Venus in Copper

Copper is highly conductive representing the receptive nature of the feminine.

Ancient Egyptians used Malachite eye shadow for beautification purposes.

The peacock- a bird sacred to Venus owes it greenish plumage to its high Copper contents.

The bluish coppery colouring in crystals such as Malachite, Azurite, Peacock Ore, & Bornite are all Venus ruled and have a soft feminine melodic sound to them.

Many instruments are made using copper due to its high resonance. In Astrology, Venus rules music.

Copper is known to absorb water and fluids changing its form and colour. Women have more fluid retention issues than men and have the ability to synthesize our emotions (water) much better than men.

Copper is abundant in female sexual organs (ruled by Venus) and is used up during sexual activity.

Copper deficiencies in soil produce sickly crops. Interestingly enough, Taurus- one of two Venus ruled signs is responsible for agriculture.

When combined with other minerals Venus transforms substances into complex salts, which is why Alchemists referred to Venus as the “harlot of the metals.”

Indeed every plant, animal, mineral, and person finds themselves easily seduced by the beauty and charm of Miss Venus.

Walnut Tree Transit: October 24-31

According to Slavic Tree Astrology- the Walnut Tree transit is one of transitions. Ruling over Scorpio season, this transition is one of stepping into an unknown place. The Walnut Tree will endow you with a strong sense of decisiveness. Staying true to your morals (Jupiter) and values will become the focus as you might find them challenged at this time. The Body Heals Itself by Emily A. Francis: REVIEW

The Body Heals Itself looks at muscle memory from a metaphysical perspective. This book has a Louise Hay ring to it because she built her career on her books about the emotional body. This book takes it a step further by focusing in on our muscles- which is something Louise Hay did not.

A discussion on the biology of muscles was included to help readers understand their functions. From there, muscles as storehouses for memories was included using both biological and spiritual examples. The author’s main point was that when muscles are massaged and stretched- emotions are released. She gave examples of clients she worked with who were able to discuss and heal old wounds when their muscles were massaged and activated which helped to prove her point. Chakras and meridians were also described, which is pretty standard for these types of books.

By the far the most interesting and important part of the book was learning the emotional component of each muscle group which is directly linked to their functions. Stretching techniques were included, along with recommended crystals, and essential oils. The main thesis of the body healing itself comes through when by the end of the book we are reminded that muscles remember when they are healthy as does the body. Our body stores emotions in order for us to go within and release them. Healing can only occur when the body is an active participant.

Overall a fascinating read that will ultimately offer a deeper appreciation of something we take for granted- our muscles.

Moonbeams: Authenticity & Inner-demons

The New Moon finds the Sun and Moon both in the sign of Libra. Libra represents the cosmic mirror- where we project ourselves onto others- the good, the bad, and the ugly. This NM will  show us how we have been unbalanced in our dealings with others. Have we been too self-sacrificing, or too self-indulgent? Either way, there are issues surrounding authenticity present at this lunation.

Uranus making an opposition to the New Moon is forcing us to approach our imbalances in a new way. We can do this by embracing our differences and respecting those who disagree with our choices.

The New Moon making a quincunx to the wounded healer Chiron suggests our own mirrors have become very distorted. The blinders are coming off. Perhaps we won’t like what we actually see, but Chiron is letting us know that we might have to confront old issues and pains around suppressing our true nature.

Jupiter and Mercury both being conjunct in Scorpio is helping us to bring back our power (Jupiter) by first bringing to the surface secrets buried deep within and processing them through logic (Mercury). Healing can only occur when we first clean up sewer (Scorpio) so to speak.

We can clearly see the themes from this NM in the media today. Seedy exposes around power, sexual abuse, and secrets- Harvey Weinstein being the prime example.

The major lesson the New Moon in Libra will offer us is to speak and live our truth to induce deep rooted healing. Venus the ruler of this moon is unaspected meaning her energies are free to do as they wish. Approach everything from a place of love as opposed to hate to help release your own inner demons. This will allow you to get back into your body and frequency without having uninvited visitors lurking in your underworld.

The song ‘Demons’ by Imagine Dragons perfectly captures the essence of this lunation. It’s about warning a significant other (Libra) about your demons. For so long things and feelings of ours were treated like demons- something evil and powerful. Guess what? Now as a collective we are experiencing a major exorcising of all of humanity’s demons.

Self-Denial: Sally Owens Style

‘Practical Magic’ has been on my mind lately…….and to quote Mr. Goran Visnjic who so drunkenly sang in the movie “You are always on my mindddddd.”  The themes in this story have really hit home for me this month as you can see from this previous blog post where I wrote about Venus Retrograde and the Owens’ love curse.

I’ve also been thinking about the main character Sally Owens and her issues around denying her witchy heritage.

Self-Denial

How often does it happen, that when you reject who you innately are, you find yourself confronted with that part of yourself all the time? The more Sally refused to engage in magic and embrace her blood, the more issues she found herself in. When she went to rescue her sister Gillian from an abusive relationship, she relied on the magic of belladonna to get them out of their messy situation, which turned into an even messier situation when Gilly’s boyfriend ended up dying and being buried in their backyard.Sally didn’t have to use belladonna- she could have gone to the police, but as usual, magic snuck its way into her life.

After her husband died because of the love curse, she found herself moving back in with her aunts and refusing to raise her daughters as witches. The longer she stayed with her aunts, the more she fell back into love with witchcraft. She even ended up opening up her own boutique- Verbena, in town selling magical creams and soaps.

By the end of the movie we see that Sally opened up her heart because of true love and embraced her witchiness, even going as far as creating a coven to help exorcise her sister, and jumping off the roof at Halloween in front of a congregation of neighbors.

The more we live and breath from a place of love, the more aligned we become. The vibration of love is the strongest and post powerful frequency which acts like a magnet for alignment. I’ve seen countless examples in my own life where I was constantly being confronted with things I was suppressing.

I believe Sally Owens ended up finding love because she embraced her witchy heritage. Even though she did cast a love spell as a child, I still think the spell only worked when she stopped denying who she was. Vibrate authenticity and witness the magic unfold in your own life.

And as Aunt Jet said in the movie “There’s a little witch in all of us….”
