New Moon in Cancer June 23, 2017: The Sandcastle

Moonbeams- Co-creation

The mermaid came ashore and directed the architects of the ocean to sculpt her sandcastle. The waves moulded and shaped her home into the home of her dreams. The supermoon heartbeat pulled the tides higher and higher, while Jupiter in Libra put down her anchor. If Cancer rules the past, then the sepia toned sand became the sands of time, reminding the mermaid that every second counts. Her sandcastle was her art of memory. Every room was filled with objects of importance, feelings of love, and fantasies of grandeur. Walking through each room pulled her deeper into herself, into the cavern of her soul. She defended her decision to create this gaudy granular mansion on the shore, because it was her creation. She had birthed it using the waters of the ocean of her consciousness. It was home.

The New Moon in Cancer features a stellium in Cancer- Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Mars. We are birthing something new, something from deep within ourselves. The stellium in Cancer is trine Neptune in Pisces- signifying dreams becoming reality. A square to Jupiter in Libra is asking us to practice non-attachment- to not fixate on our dreams, and to not get hardened by the truth of our reality. Coming into alignment with both, is the essence of creation. When a woman gives birth, both her and her child and working in tandem to ensure the safe and successful arrival of the baby. Manifestation works the same way, like the tides of the ocean, there is always a push and a pull, and with this New Moon being a Supermoon, we will feel extra passionate about creating something new for ourselves. The waters of our consciousness will be sculpting the new reality, and we can aid this process through our creativity and meditation. Cancer rules the passage of time and we are being called to utilize every precious moment to its full advantage. Forgiving those who may have wronged us, letting go of things that are interfering with our self trust, and dreaming big so as to co-create something wonderful. A new cycle is beginning, and the gestation period is starting today and will complete at the Spring Equinox of 2018. We are most comfortable when we are at home, wherever that may be, and like a mermaid who creates a sandcastle of her dreams, we too are creating our own sandcastles, with every wish, dream, and hope being a grain of sand. And it is that combination that makes it withstand the crashing waves of uncertainty.

Apple Tree June 22-July 4 & Dec 23-Jan 1- Personality & Transit

If you were born during the above dates, then you were born under the influence of the Apple Tree. Overall these are extremely gifted people. Many consider the Apple Tree to be the tree of love. In Greek mythology, Apples are sacred to Aphrodite, and it was Eris who threw a golden apple into a wedding party which was the catalyst for the Trojan War.  Apples also appear throughout Norse mythology as symbols and fruits of fertility. When Apples are cut vertically, they actually look like the womb. Beautiful, attractive, and constantly thinking about love, they fall in love everyday and enjoy love-making. Their love can be secretive, passionate, jealous. They need to stay honest and open within their relationships so as not to complicate them. They also find it difficult to stay faithful. They earn and spend money easily because they are not attached to it so they find themselves in debt. They live in the moment and can have many false-friends. Apple Tree people need a lot of nurturing from a very young age and if they don’t receive this, they can feel a huge void in their life. These individuals tend to have a very thick skin, similar to the wax coating of apples.  They are also very different from parents.

This transit is all about love- you will feel more loving, will receive more adoration, and should wear and work with rose quartz and the colour red. As the forbidden fruit, it would also be an excellent time to study the occult.  The old name for Apple is Silver Bough, because apples were believed to grow on the silver bough of the underworld and held the power of immortality. Beware of excessive indulgences and contracting bugs and illnesses. A quarrel with your parents can also happen, so think before you speak. Overall a great time for love and esoterica.

Summer Soulstice 2017

The June 21st Solstice marks the official start of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere and the longest day of the year, while the Winter Solstice occurs in the Southern Hemisphere and marks the shortest day of the year. Even though this is more of an astronomical event, the planetary energies on this day actually foretells what will occur for the next 3 months on a collective scale up until the end of September and even up until the Fall Equinox . Looking at your planetary transits that day can also act as a mini Solar Return chart- letting you know about the energies you will be working with or against until the end of September.

Sun in Cancer Conjunct Mercury in Cancer- Communication will be important, so focus on improving the way you speak and get your point across, this include body language. It’s a great time to network on social media, and to write from the comfort of your home. Lightworking through your writing will naturally come through. Emotional instability will serve as inspiration for creative works. Feeling is healing. The Sun and Mercury will both be opposite Saturn showing a restlessness and need and huge desire to move on.

Moon in Taurus- Light bulbs will go off in our minds about our future and what we need to work on in order to bring it into reality. The Moon will also be in its Balsamic phase at the Scorpio degree, indicating a heavy occultic overtone to this solstice. With both the Sun and Moon being in their dark phase it’s a time for focusing on our future and releasing the past. Our future is the light at the end of the tunnel.

Venus Trine Pluto- Your intuition will be heightened so you will be able to analyze your current situation with a magnifying glass. Do not sacrifice your morals and values for anyone. Use your powers for good and not evil.

Moon to Pluto- The Moon is the ruler of the our Solstice Sun so take note of where you are not being honest with yourself. What are you hiding from? If you’re hiding from change or are afraid to put yourself out there, Pluto is going to reveal this to you.

Considering this is the time of light in the NH, there is a darkness that is pervading this Solstice with a heavy Plutonian and Scorpionic energy. We are being called to retreat into our womb consciousness- to surrender and extend our optimism out into the world like the rays of sunshine. There is always a balance in the universe and we have to thank the cosmos for giving us this day of light, but balancing it with the darkness of introspection. If I could sum up this solstice, it would be to to dream big, have strong values, and to remember that YOU are the light in the darkness.

“In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present.”– Francis Bacon

Lana Del Rey’s song ‘Summertime Sadness’ captures the essence of this Solstice with its melancholy lyrics and sepia toned video which screams Cancer.

The Stargazer’s Embassy by Eleanor Lerman- REVIEW ***A Must Read!!

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of The Stargazer’s Embassy by Eleanor Lerman from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Stargazer’s Embassy is unlike any alien novel written before. Thought provoking and addictive, this is a must read and should be on everyone’s e-reader and book shelf. Judging by the title, what appears to be a quirky cosmic sci-fi novel is actually a rich metaphysical novel that ponders some important existential questions. What really happens after death? What are aliens’ intentions? Can we ever truly escape our past?

The story follows a woman named Julia who finds herself part of an alien conspiracy and wants no part of it. She’s a house-cleaner who is trying to move on from her new-agey childhood and mommy issues. All she has is a tattoo, and a place called The Stargazer’s Embassy, where people come and go, like life itself. We find her at various points in her life struggling with this issue, and trying to make a life for herself. Along the way we are introduced to some interesting characters who find themselves implicated in the very same alien problems she’s trying to escape from.

Julia’s defiance of involving herself in this haunting issue is what makes this a stand out novel. We don’t see Julia enthusiastically throwing herself into the unknown. We see a truly scared, annoyed, and assertive character who becomes the anti-hero. There is a will she or won’t she anticipation that hooks the reader and offers a certain emotional and psychological realism. There are plenty of alien encounters in the novel to satisfy traditional science fiction lovers, but it takes it a step further by offering a multitude of spiritual questions. It is because of this, that The Stargazer’s Embassy becomes an exploration of the meaning of life.

Suffering from emotional abandonment issues, the aliens become a metaphor for Julia’s strange childhood. In essence, she herself is an alien- trying to create a life for herself that she’s never known. Losing her mother with many unanswered questions, Julia hopes her encounters with the aliens, or “things” as she likes to call them, will provide her with the answers she needs. The aliens themselves are not exactly sure what they’re looking for and this in turn becomes a mirror for Julia and other “experiencers” encounters. If we all had the chance to travel throughout the cosmos like the aliens- would any of our questions be answered, or would we be even more confused? Julia spends most of her life searching for answers, but it is the very place she is running away from that provides her with the comfort she seeks- The Stargazer’s Embassy. The aliens have just as many questions as Julia and her friends do, but appreciating life for the journey it is, is all that counts in the end. Everything has a beginning and an end, so rather than spend lifetimes dissecting what it all means, it is important to treasure every waking moment, because it is those moments that stitch the fabric of our lives. There are two things we must do in our lifetime, be born and die. Everything in between is alien compared to the certainty of those two things.

I appreciated the humour associated with the aliens and their un-friendly demeanors. Once again they did not come across as stereotypical menacing superior beings, but relatable drifters who seemed genuinely lost. The story was perfectly paced and the first person narrative was a great way to keep the reader invested in Julia’s journey.

In essence, each of us have our own Stargazer’s Embassy- a place, either imagined or real where we are able to go to find comfort and peace- knowing that the answers we seek, are in fact seeking us. The Stargazer’s Embassy is a place where people- human and inhuman come and go, like life itself.

*A big thank you to Sarah Miniaci at Smith Publicity Inc. for being kind enough to send me a paperback copy to review. You’re friendly correspondence and enthusiasm for this book has me looking forward to reviewing other Smith Publicity Inc. books!

Fig Tree Personality- June 14-20, Dec 12-21

If you were born during the above dates, then you were born under the influence of the Fig Tree according to Slavic astrology.

A Fig Tree is a fig of feelings. The olives absorb the energy around them. The olive oil has to be kept closely tight in a small container because it will absorb the scents of the surroundings. You are able to understand the whole spectrum of feelings. Good natured, gentle, and sentimental, your happiness is not stable. Other people’s un-friendliness deeply hurts you and their friendliness makes you happy. In an attempt to please others, sometimes you are too strict towards yourself or your children. You are a faithful partner which makes you very attractive to the opposite sex. You appreciate the values of family and you will work hard to create happiness for them. It is family that gives you security and you need their constant appreciation. Your work is slow but consistent and with your persistency you will achieve results. You find it difficult to start your projects but once you start you do finalize them. Often you get sick during the winter so it’s important that you stay extra warm. You also have a fascination with deserts and sand dunes.

These individuals are highly introspective and spend a great deal of time psycho analyzing themselves. They do better in environments that allows them to work independently. Takes them a long time to mature- don’t come into their own until later in life. They will be interested in history and antiques.

Crystal Magic by Sandra Kynes- REVIEW

A must read for anyone who uses and or is interested in crystals- whether you are a lapidary or witch- you will find this book to be both grimoire and text book. Crystal Magic is one of the best books I have read about crystals. Most books on this topic simply name crystals and their properties but this book took it a step further. The first part of the book is about the History and Science of crystals which is absolutely needed if you are going to be working with them. It is fascinating learning about crystals and gemstones in antiquity whether it was in astrology, divination, or medicinal uses. Learning about crystals from a scientific perspective such as their mineral compositions, their crystalline structures, and their formations provides a wealth of information about crystals that help you understand their magical properties even more. This section was not overly scientific, so if you are not a sciencey person, you have nothing to fear about this part of this book. This was extremely useful as we can sometimes forget that at the end of the day, crystals come from the earth. Tips on how to spot fake stones was also very helpful as we want to ensure that we are not simply relying on the placebo effect and that we aren’t supporting fraudulent distributors. I thought the chapter on crystals grids that are based on the crystalline structures of the crystals to be ingenious as I have never come across information about that before. The Compendium of Stones was one of the best I have seen as it also included the history of stones as many books opt not to include that in their descriptions. Two reference guides are also included at the back of the book that list the magical correspondences for the crystals such as ruling deities and planets. Once again this was very helpful. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced crystal practitioner, this book creates a solid foundation in understanding crystals from their historical and geological perspectives. Understanding crystals, gems, and minerals history and compositions creates a deeper and richer appreciation for these marvelous rocks.

Crystal Prescriptions Volume 6 by Judy Hall- REVIEW

This book explored the use of crystals for karmic healing, soul reintegration, and ancestral clearing. Reading about alternative uses for crystals as opposed to the standard applications was a breath of fresh air. Each chapter contained an overview of what the crystals should be used for ie; karmic healing. This was helpful as it was explained in very straightforward ways that makes it easy for the reader to comprehend. Each chapter contained a list of items needed to perform the rituals and step-by-step instructions on how to use the crystals was provided. I would have liked a description of the crystals used as opposed to simply naming them. There was not enough information about the crystal properties and why certain crystals were preferred over others. This may be due to the fact that this book is not for beginners and those who are new to crystals, but it still would have been helpful to at least list the properties of the crystals- as I do believe some of them are harder to find. I also think there should have been more warnings and precautions mentioned throughout the book as anytime you delve deep within yourself for healing, there is always the risk of fracturing your psyche or shattering your emotional body.

Overall I do think this book was groundbreaking as there is not enough discussion on how crystals can aid very deep spiritual work.
