Reflections on my Jupiter Return

This year I experienced my Jupiter Return in Libra which affected my 4th house. Jupiter in Libra generally speaking was about spiritual diplomacy. It was about learning to embrace sovereignty and letting go of self sacrifice. When you are able to accomplish this, you will have achieved the soul lesson of Libra- balance.

My Jupiter Return

Since September 2016 until today, I have had many lessons around this theme. Since Jupiter expands whatever it touches, Jupiter in Libra expanded all of the imbalances in my own life. The 4th house in Astrology rules home and family and it was in this area of my life, that I learned my most important lessons.

Firstly, the desire to want to move out of my parents home became very strong. I had visions of my own space and found myself fantasizing about what this space would like like. I started to reflect on why I wanted to leave, and I came to the conclusion that it was because I needed more alone time to get in touch with what it is that I truly wanted to experience in my life.

This was also the year that I told my family what some of my personal goals and deepest needs and desires were. This was a huge step for me because I do seek approval quite a lot, but since voicing my needs, I’ve found myself less worried about what my family thinks of me.

Biggest Lessons

This biggest lesson for me this year was about honouring my own needs and path before my family’s.  I struggled with this, as I thought it was selfish of me to put them last, but if I wasn’t in a good place- I couldn’t possibly be there for them.

Jupiter Returns mark major spiritual transformations in a person’s life, and for me, not only did I share (Libra) some of my deepest wants and needs with my family (4th house Jupiter Return), but I saw my creativity also explode.

The sign that Jupiter traditionally rules over is Pisces- and having my Moon, Mercury, and Midheaven in Pisces (even my Sun according to Vedic Astrology), I saw my spiritual career take off. I wrote a lot this year, published quite a bit, saw The Luminessence evolve, and scored my dream job at a New Age shop. I believe this happened because I got honest with myself and my family.

My proudest accomplishment with my Jupiter Return was being able to share more of I was with my family and having their support to chase my non-traditional dreams. I embraced my own sovereignty and stopped sacrificing who I was for them.

In Sidereal Astrology- Jupiter will be entering the constellation of Libra this year. I guess that means I will be experiencing a double Jupiter Return? Double the trouble I guess!

AstroJewelry- Jupiter & Jewelry- Part 1

Jupiter is known as the planet of abundance, expansion, spirituality, education, and riches. Riches can actually extend to jewelry as well.  I have noticed a correlation between your Jupiter sign and the kind of jewelry you like and own. Jupiter is actually known as the ‘Gem of Fortunes.’ Down below you can find some celebrity examples.

Coco Chanel- Jupiter in Cancer

Coco Chanel’s Jupiter is placed in Cancer in her 7th House. Cancer is ruled by the moon just like pearls. Coco Chanel was responsible for making pearls a quint-essential French fashion staple. Coco Chanel was often referred to as the Queen of Pearls. This is still seen in the House of Chanel today as Mr. Karl Lagerfeld has kept the brand true to Coco’s signature. Coco’s obsession with the elite also led her to being greatly influenced by sporting culture- specifically yachting. It’s no surprise that nautical fashion- including pearls- were a major part of her aesthetic.

Elizabeth Taylor- Jupiter in Leo- 8th House

We all know Elizabeth Taylor was a jewelry snob. Her extensive collection of jewels is a direct result of her Jupiter in Leo. Not only did she have an abundance of jewelry, but a Leo Jupiter creates a love of gaudy, showy, attention grabbing pieces. Elizabeth was known to flaunt her jewels, and outshined and outsparkled even the most prestigious diamond mines in the world. Her 8th House Jupiter allowed her to be gifted with jewels as opposed to purchasing them herself- although she did this as well. Her husbands were known to call her “very expensive.”  An 8th House Jupiter in Leo also made her obsessed with jewels and she would go to great lengths to acquire the rarest ones. After all, her Leoline Jupiter did make her the Queen of Diamonds- and since the 8th House is ruled by Scorpio- diamonds themselves are ruled by this sign, as they are buried deep within the earth.

Mary Pickford- Jupiter in Aries- 2nd House

Mary Pickford may not be someone you would immediately associate with jewelry, but this silent movie star had a very extensive and expensive (2nd House) jewelry collection. She was dubbed Hollywood’s “first millionairess” and was obsessed with rubies and sapphires. Douglas Fairbanks gifted Mary with the Star of Bombay which was a 182 carat blue star sapphire. Mary later donated it to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC where it’s currently on display. Mary’s obsession with rubies and sapphires is due to her Aries Jupiter. Sapphire is a power stone and is the historical birthstone for the month of April- Mary was born April 8. Rubies on the other hand are red coloured which is connected to the fire sign Aries.

Marilyn Monroe- Jupiter in Aquarius-7th House

Marilyn Monroe may have sung “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend” but in truth, Marilyn was more of a handbag collector than a jewelry collector. Aquarians are not known to be glitzy and glamorous, so while Marilyn’s Jupiter is in the sign of Aquarius, it’s fair to say that jewelry really didn’t interest her as much as her intellectual pursuits. Most of Marilyn’s jewelry resembled rosaries or had an ecclesiastical look to them. Aquarians can be quite religious which is the placement of her Jupiter. What is interesting is that her estate did find a rosary necklace with onxy and jade beads with a large crucifix that appeared to be more worry beads than a statement piece. This could be due to the nervous Uranus energy associated with her Jupiter. This rosary necklace was also given to her from her husband Joe Di Maggio- which explains the 7th House placement of her Jupiter.

Sophia Loren- Jupiter in Libra- 9th House

Sophia Loren like Elizabeth Taylor is a massive jewelry lover. Her Jupiter in Libra gives her a strong thirst for jewels and the gaudier the better! Sophia was a master at balancing (Libra) her statement pieces with classic outfits so as not to compete with the jewels. Her Jupiter is ruled by Venus, so the more feminine the jewelry, the better. Her Jupiter is placed in her 9th house, meaning she traveled all over the world visiting jewelry shops and was not biased towards Italian jewelry, in fact, she was a huge fan of the French brand Cartier, since the 9th house does rule foreigners.

Amy Adams- Jupiter in Pisces- 11th House

Amy Adams is known to be quite flashy on the red carpet. Her go to jewelry pieces are emerald. Emerald is ruled by Mercury which has very good relations with the planet Jupiter. Emeralds bring positive change to Jupiter in Pisces people, particularly so if Mercury is in the 4th or 7th House. Amy has her Mercury in the 4th House which maybe why she is so drawn to these heartful gemstones. The 11th House placement of her Jupiter indicates that she only wears flashy jewels when she is at an important event.

Miranda Kerr- Jupiter in Sagittarius- 5th House

Miranda Kerr might be a supermodel, but she is also a pretty hard core new ager. In countless interviews Miranda has mentioned that as a child in Australia, she would go searching for crystals in the outback with her family and was taught the magical properties of the stones through her grandparents. Miranda has been a public advocate for gemstone healing and even created (5th House Creativity) her own jewelry line using healing crystals/gems. She carries a clear quartz crystal wand beaded with rose quartz in her purse, and carries a small rose quartz piece with her at all times. Her Sagittarius Jupiter makes her Jupiter extra powerful as Jupiter is in its own sign and also spiritualizes her jewelry. Her new agey aesthetic comes into view with her raw gemstone jewelry.

New Moon in Cancer June 23, 2017: The Sandcastle

Time- 3:31 am UT- June 24

Moonbeams- Co-creation

The mermaid came ashore and directed the architects of the ocean to sculpt her sandcastle. The waves moulded and shaped her home into the home of her dreams. The supermoon heartbeat pulled the tides higher and higher, while Jupiter in Libra put down her anchor. If Cancer rules the past, then the sepia toned sand became the sands of time, reminding the mermaid that every second counts. Her sandcastle was her art of memory. Every room was filled with objects of importance, feelings of love, and fantasies of grandeur. Walking through each room pulled her deeper into herself, into the cavern of her soul. She defended her decision to create this gaudy granular mansion on the shore, because it was her creation. She had birthed it using the waters of the ocean of her consciousness. It was home.

The New Moon in Cancer features a stellium in Cancer- Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Mars. We are birthing something new, something from deep within ourselves. The stellium in Cancer is trine Neptune in Pisces- signifying dreams becoming reality. A square to Jupiter in Libra is asking us to practice non-attachment- to not fixate on our dreams, and to not get hardened by the truth of our reality. Coming into alignment with both, is the essence of creation. When a woman gives birth, both her and her child and working in tandem to ensure the safe and successful arrival of the baby. Manifestation works the same way, like the tides of the ocean, there is always a push and a pull, and with this New Moon being a Supermoon, we will feel extra passionate about creating something new for ourselves. The waters of our consciousness will be sculpting the new reality, and we can aid this process through our creativity and meditation. Cancer rules the passage of time and we are being called to utilize every precious moment to its full advantage. Forgiving those who may have wronged us, letting go of things that are interfering with our self trust, and dreaming big so as to co-create something wonderful. A new cycle is beginning, and the gestation period is starting today and will complete at the Spring Equinox of 2018. We are most comfortable when we are at home, wherever that may be, and like a mermaid who creates a sandcastle of her dreams, we too are creating our own sandcastles, with every wish, dream, and hope being a grain of sand. And it is that combination that makes it withstand the crashing waves of uncertainty.

Jupiter in Libra + My Jupiter Return

Jupiter moves into Libra on Sept 9, 2016 and stays there until October 10, 2017. When the planet of expansion, positivity, and fortune moves into the sign of harmony, beauty, and creativity, we have a beautiful union that will alchemize curiosity, fair judgement, and romance.

I for one am super excited for this transit as it is my Jupiter Return which is happening in my 5th House of romance and creativity. If I look back to my last Jupiter Return in which I was 11-12, it was my most creative year, when I performed in a lot of theatrical works, and created some really cool school projects. It was the year when I really came of out of my shell. This year, at 23-24, I am looking forward to experiencing the other aspects of my 5th House to do with love. A few different psychics and tarot readings I have had, have also foretold of an upcoming relationship and marriage for me in 2017, so it will be very interesting to see what transpires.

Also, since Jupiter is the planetary ruler of Sagittarius, it is also helpful to look to see where Sagittarius is in your natal chart. For me it happens to be my true north node in my 6th House. A True North Node in Sagittarius is about speaking your truth, teaching what you know, and deciding if your life is one of solitude or will include others? I know personally this is something I have been pondering a lot this year, as I do sense many changes coming to my personal life. Commitment is also another huge area for this placement as a Gemini South Node suggests not being true to oneself and being fearful of commitment in a past lifetime. Also, studying Astrology and all things metaphysics is highly encouraged. I’ve actually been contemplating taking some Babylonian Astrology courses…..if I can find them!

The Temperance Card in the Tarot is linked with the North Node in Sagittarius which I find pretty cool, as I did a reading for myself during the Solar Eclipse on September 1st, asking “What is being transformed in my life?” I pulled the Temperance Card. In many ways, this card is about being true to yourself and trusting your intuition and divine timing. It also calls attention to your thoughts. You are what you think. Ultimately, this card signifies the synthesis of the material world with the spiritual. Whatever spiritual work you have been doing, is about to manifest.

I’ve realized that you don’t have to be alone in order to be on a spiritual path. In fact, one can learn the most about spirituality when you have someone to share your life with. My hope and intention with my Jupiter Return is to follow my heart, release self-doubt, and to share my true authentic self with the world!
