AstroJewelry- Jupiter & Jewelry- Part 1

Jupiter is known as the planet of abundance, expansion, spirituality, education, and riches. Riches can actually extend to jewelry as well.  I have noticed a correlation between your Jupiter sign and the kind of jewelry you like and own. Jupiter is actually known as the ‘Gem of Fortunes.’ Down below you can find some celebrity examples.

Coco Chanel- Jupiter in Cancer

Coco Chanel’s Jupiter is placed in Cancer in her 7th House. Cancer is ruled by the moon just like pearls. Coco Chanel was responsible for making pearls a quint-essential French fashion staple. Coco Chanel was often referred to as the Queen of Pearls. This is still seen in the House of Chanel today as Mr. Karl Lagerfeld has kept the brand true to Coco’s signature. Coco’s obsession with the elite also led her to being greatly influenced by sporting culture- specifically yachting. It’s no surprise that nautical fashion- including pearls- were a major part of her aesthetic.

Elizabeth Taylor- Jupiter in Leo- 8th House

We all know Elizabeth Taylor was a jewelry snob. Her extensive collection of jewels is a direct result of her Jupiter in Leo. Not only did she have an abundance of jewelry, but a Leo Jupiter creates a love of gaudy, showy, attention grabbing pieces. Elizabeth was known to flaunt her jewels, and outshined and outsparkled even the most prestigious diamond mines in the world. Her 8th House Jupiter allowed her to be gifted with jewels as opposed to purchasing them herself- although she did this as well. Her husbands were known to call her “very expensive.”  An 8th House Jupiter in Leo also made her obsessed with jewels and she would go to great lengths to acquire the rarest ones. After all, her Leoline Jupiter did make her the Queen of Diamonds- and since the 8th House is ruled by Scorpio- diamonds themselves are ruled by this sign, as they are buried deep within the earth.

Mary Pickford- Jupiter in Aries- 2nd House

Mary Pickford may not be someone you would immediately associate with jewelry, but this silent movie star had a very extensive and expensive (2nd House) jewelry collection. She was dubbed Hollywood’s “first millionairess” and was obsessed with rubies and sapphires. Douglas Fairbanks gifted Mary with the Star of Bombay which was a 182 carat blue star sapphire. Mary later donated it to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC where it’s currently on display. Mary’s obsession with rubies and sapphires is due to her Aries Jupiter. Sapphire is a power stone and is the historical birthstone for the month of April- Mary was born April 8. Rubies on the other hand are red coloured which is connected to the fire sign Aries.

Marilyn Monroe- Jupiter in Aquarius-7th House

Marilyn Monroe may have sung “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend” but in truth, Marilyn was more of a handbag collector than a jewelry collector. Aquarians are not known to be glitzy and glamorous, so while Marilyn’s Jupiter is in the sign of Aquarius, it’s fair to say that jewelry really didn’t interest her as much as her intellectual pursuits. Most of Marilyn’s jewelry resembled rosaries or had an ecclesiastical look to them. Aquarians can be quite religious which is the placement of her Jupiter. What is interesting is that her estate did find a rosary necklace with onxy and jade beads with a large crucifix that appeared to be more worry beads than a statement piece. This could be due to the nervous Uranus energy associated with her Jupiter. This rosary necklace was also given to her from her husband Joe Di Maggio- which explains the 7th House placement of her Jupiter.

Sophia Loren- Jupiter in Libra- 9th House

Sophia Loren like Elizabeth Taylor is a massive jewelry lover. Her Jupiter in Libra gives her a strong thirst for jewels and the gaudier the better! Sophia was a master at balancing (Libra) her statement pieces with classic outfits so as not to compete with the jewels. Her Jupiter is ruled by Venus, so the more feminine the jewelry, the better. Her Jupiter is placed in her 9th house, meaning she traveled all over the world visiting jewelry shops and was not biased towards Italian jewelry, in fact, she was a huge fan of the French brand Cartier, since the 9th house does rule foreigners.

Amy Adams- Jupiter in Pisces- 11th House

Amy Adams is known to be quite flashy on the red carpet. Her go to jewelry pieces are emerald. Emerald is ruled by Mercury which has very good relations with the planet Jupiter. Emeralds bring positive change to Jupiter in Pisces people, particularly so if Mercury is in the 4th or 7th House. Amy has her Mercury in the 4th House which maybe why she is so drawn to these heartful gemstones. The 11th House placement of her Jupiter indicates that she only wears flashy jewels when she is at an important event.

Miranda Kerr- Jupiter in Sagittarius- 5th House

Miranda Kerr might be a supermodel, but she is also a pretty hard core new ager. In countless interviews Miranda has mentioned that as a child in Australia, she would go searching for crystals in the outback with her family and was taught the magical properties of the stones through her grandparents. Miranda has been a public advocate for gemstone healing and even created (5th House Creativity) her own jewelry line using healing crystals/gems. She carries a clear quartz crystal wand beaded with rose quartz in her purse, and carries a small rose quartz piece with her at all times. Her Sagittarius Jupiter makes her Jupiter extra powerful as Jupiter is in its own sign and also spiritualizes her jewelry. Her new agey aesthetic comes into view with her raw gemstone jewelry.

Crystal Magic by Sandra Kynes- REVIEW

A must read for anyone who uses and or is interested in crystals- whether you are a lapidary or witch- you will find this book to be both grimoire and text book. Crystal Magic is one of the best books I have read about crystals. Most books on this topic simply name crystals and their properties but this book took it a step further. The first part of the book is about the History and Science of crystals which is absolutely needed if you are going to be working with them. It is fascinating learning about crystals and gemstones in antiquity whether it was in astrology, divination, or medicinal uses. Learning about crystals from a scientific perspective such as their mineral compositions, their crystalline structures, and their formations provides a wealth of information about crystals that help you understand their magical properties even more. This section was not overly scientific, so if you are not a sciencey person, you have nothing to fear about this part of this book. This was extremely useful as we can sometimes forget that at the end of the day, crystals come from the earth. Tips on how to spot fake stones was also very helpful as we want to ensure that we are not simply relying on the placebo effect and that we aren’t supporting fraudulent distributors. I thought the chapter on crystals grids that are based on the crystalline structures of the crystals to be ingenious as I have never come across information about that before. The Compendium of Stones was one of the best I have seen as it also included the history of stones as many books opt not to include that in their descriptions. Two reference guides are also included at the back of the book that list the magical correspondences for the crystals such as ruling deities and planets. Once again this was very helpful. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced crystal practitioner, this book creates a solid foundation in understanding crystals from their historical and geological perspectives. Understanding crystals, gems, and minerals history and compositions creates a deeper and richer appreciation for these marvelous rocks.

Fluorite: Pisces Medicine

Fluorite is one of those crystals that everyone needs in their stash. Known as the ‘Genius Stone’ it promotes mental acuity like no other rock, gem, or mineral out there in the jewelry shop of Mother Nature. It strengthens the mind, fine tunes analytical and critical thinking skills, helps the user attain and remember information, and assists in solving complex problems. Bringing both the left brain and right brain together by bringing in more life force, spiritual and metaphysical awareness becomes heightened as does creativity creating a psychic spark in the individual.

There are many different variations of Fluorite- Purple, Blue, Yellow, Green, but they all target the mind and consciousness.

Exceptional for clearing mental fog, distortion, and illusions, Fluorite becomes medicine for every dreaming Pisces. Helping to dissolve mental confusion, it gifts the user with the ability to work through every situation and problem methodically as opposed to drowning in the emotional tides that can sweep a person under. Keeping us connected to the divine, while firmly planted on the earth, this is the ideal crystal for anyone who finds themselves getting lost in the astral plane and new age spirituality. I call this crystal Pisces medicine, because as someone who has a stellium in Pisces, I understand how difficult it is to stay focused here in present reality when spirit and dreams are always beckoning. Fluorite becomes a crystallized chain that connects us to both planes without sacrificing one for the other.

Fluorite is also excellent for meditation as it helps to quiet the mind and to access “higher” information. It’s also great for studying, dream recall, and anything that requires concentration.

Fluorite is the crystal for the zodiac sign Pisces, but serves a dual purpose of not only being the birth crystal, but as also being a great medication for those who drown in their own thoughts.

Get a prescription of Fluorite and watch yourself become the master of your mind.

Why We Should Treat Our Crystals Like Pets

How many of us have brought home the most sparkly powerful crystal completely enamored with it for a few days or weeks and without even thinking about it, abandon it on a shelf or dusty corner of our bedroom, perhaps only using it for a much needed ritual, only to put it back to its forgotten hideaway? I am certainly guilty of doing this, even worse you could say, as I keep the majority of my crystals in a little shabby chic box I keep in a bedside table drawer. This reminds me of the feeling when  you bring home that new kitty or puppy where you just can’t stop playing with them, and then as the weeks go by you find yourself waning off the 24/7 attention, busying yourself with “other” more “important” things.

Crystals are living things with feelings like plants, animals or trees. It is believed that if your crystal breaks or chips there is a powerful emotive energy that is being emitted from the crystal that usually is reflective of an inner fracturing of the person using the crystal. I can speak from my own experience of dropping a rose quartz pendant in a new age shop and of course had to buy it. I brought it home and dare I say, glued it back together again……which is somewhat of a taboo in the crystal community, as glue is not a natural occurring substance. I have always believed that my Rose Quartz broke because my heart at the time was suffering from a self love deficiency. When I held the Rose Quartz it could not withstand that type of energy because it was emitting extra strong self love vibrations. I never felt much from that pendant and kept it hidden away in my little box for a good year.

Occasionally I take out all of my crystals to cleanse them and it sometimes feels as though they are crying for attention. Some feel weak, others feel cold, and some feel turned off from me. I recently cleansed my Rose Quartz in my Tibetan singing bowl and felt it was waking up. It’s malnutrition of cobwebs, darkness, and neglect were disappearing as its frequencies awoke to the sound healing. Ever since I have felt a stronger connection to it, and have started working with it again. It’s like those people who keep their dogs locked up indoors all the time, and when they take them outside once or twice a year for a walk, they can’t contain themselves, they’re running all over the place, jumping on strangers, and chasing the squirrels…….it’s as though they have been resuscitated.

I’ve started noticing that crystals need our attention as much as our pets and plants do. When they’re ignored they can become dull in colour and weak in energy. I even know people who have thrown away or sold crystals and I can’t help but wonder if they know that they can’t provide the necessities it needs, much like a pet owner has to give up a cat or dog they can no longer look after?

Feeding our crystals with love polishes these little vessels into the soul jewelry they’re meant to be. We’re obviously not going to put a leash on them and take them for a walk, but we need to nurture their frequencies by using them, speaking to them, asking them for help, and cleansing them. I’ve also noticed that taking them outside freshens them up a bit as they are visiting Mother Gaia, who is their own personal jeweler.

So while it’s important to raise and nurture our pets, we can’t neglect the pets of Mother Earth, those pets of the cosmos, those pets of light and love we call crystals. It’s not so crazy to have a pet rock after all.

Cavansite- The Transition Stone

As the year of endings comes to a close, I thought I would share some information about a wonderful crystal that is the perfect crystal to work with in this time of endings and beginnings.

Cavansite is known to be a transition stone, assisting the user through major life changes. It assists you by illuminating the path forward, and creating a sense of inner peace about your past and current journey. It helps you retain and remember spiritual information from your life experiences through connecting the throat and third eye chakras, allowing you to communicate your spiritual truths. It also aids self acceptance and is a wonderful stress reliever. It also endows the user with incredible focus and stillness, which makes it excellent for studying.

This stone comes in a range of bluish colours from Mediterranean blue, to light blue, to bluish green. It is connected to the planet Uranus- the planet of change, and the sign of Aquarius.

I would highly recommend this stone for the month of December and for 2017, to assist you in integrating new energies that are coming into your life and to have a certain peace knowing that all is how it is meant to be. This is an amazing stone for passages- and what a more perfect time to take advantage of this talisman, then through the passageway of the final year of a 9 year cycle (2016), into the brand new chapter about to unfold in 2017.

Luminous Movies

The Secret of Moonacre

This is a fantasy adventure film that basically tells of a whimsical love story between the divine feminine and divine masculine. There’s a moon princess, a mysterious English manor, and moon magic. Case in point, if you love all things associated with the moon, and fantasy films, then The Secret of Moonacre is a must see!

Doctor Strange Trailer

This whole movie is about a spiritual awakening…………enough said.

Lumi Listening

Yeah I know, Hilary Duff? When I was a pre-teen she was all the rage, and contrary to the sour reviews her debut album received, the song Metamorphosis was my anthem when I was like, 10? The lyrics are resonating with me even more now as I am currently experiencing my own transformation. Even if you detest Disney Channel wannabe singers, this song’s lyrics are great for coming out of your cocoon, little butterflies!

Superluminal Fashion

It is a nice change to see metaphysical jewelry becoming more mainstream, especially on the runways. I especially love how designers and fashion influencers are not afraid to speak of gemstone’s magical healing properties. If you wanna flaunt some chunky pieces of rock while making a fashion statement, then gemstones are the perfect choice!

Dennis Bass Pre-Fall 2016

Mr. Basso’s inspiration behind his Pre-Fall 2016 collection were fancy ladies dining under the foggy moonlight glow. Basically, as a luna lover, I need his entire collection which features dusky florals, moon motifs, and would totally fit my Midnight Garden aesthetic this fall:)

Luminary of the Month

This is my favourite intuitive, metaphysical teacher Youtube/blogger in cyberspace. Not only is she a fellow Canadian, but she melds galactic alien speak with spirituality. Her videos have taught me so much, and I find her message truly inspiring. Her information is easy to comprehend and in many ways are life changing. I highly recommend checking out her Youtube channel, I don’t believe there is anyone else out there doing what she is doing.

Lux Item of the Month

Rider-Waite Tarot Cards

I have been studying and dabbling in Tarot since I was a kid, but found myself more actively pursuing others forms of divination such as folksy domestic magic. However, I was recently gifted with my own Rider-Waite Tarot Deck on our Full Moon in Aquarius which was the ultimate gift for me. I rediscovered my love of Tarot, and have reawakened my strong Neptunian Lunar self who loves all things mystical, archetypal, and symbolic!

See you all next time for my September Faves!

Love & Light

Lodestone: The Witch’s Amulet

Lodestone, also known as Magnetite, is one of the most potent stones for manifestation. This stone magnetically attracts into your present, what you most need to experience. In fact, Lodestone is one of the most magnetic stones found in nature. This is a strong stone for attracting abundance and prosperity, and can draw into your life more love and commitment in your personal relationships, if that is something you seek.

This is also a very strong spiritual grounding stone, which grounds you down to the Earth Star chakra, and is therefore a very strong psychic protection stone. This is why they are extremely powerful amulets.

Alexander the Great distributed Lodestones to his troops to protect them from djinn. The Chinese used lodestones as wedding rings to ensure a strong loving marriage. The Romans carved their statues Venus and Mars with Lodestone, so both could be attracted to each other. Ancients believed that Female Lodestones were more rounded, and Male Lodestones more phallic shaped.

It was also used in divination specifically Lithomancy. Orpheus stated “With this stone you can hear the voices of the gods and learn many wonderful things.” Legend says that it had the property of foreseeing the future, and when held close to the eyes it would inspire divine spirit.

All in all, Lodestone has a rich esoteric history, along with superb magnetic abilities…..literally. Add a piece of lodestone to your gem/crystal collection………the next step is a simple as deciding on what it is you most desire, and watch the magnets do its magic:)
