New Moon in Sagittarius December 7, 2018: Shoot that Poison Arrow

The New Moon in Sagittarius is occurring at 15 degrees Sagittarius which has the potential to reaffirm our faith in the midst of swirling chaos. We are only limited by our beliefs, and this NM can either poison you via your own limiting perceptions or it can push you onto a new journey of self-discovery.

The Aspects

Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces- tainted love

New Moon square Mars- impatience

New Moon square Neptune- confused

Jupiter square Mars & Neptune- questioning your beliefs

The New Moon in Sagittarius is contains a poisoned bow and arrow. It’s poisoned with fear, restlessness, aggression, impatience, insecurity, and deception. At this time it can feel like we need to shoot, but we don’t know where to aim. We have to trust that everything will be OK, but that darn Sag energy is making us clamour for a new journey. It’s during intense times like this that we have to put down our bow and arrow and let the universe decide our best course of action.

The Kozminsky Symbol for the New Moon is:

16º Sagittarius: A woman outside an old ruin under a starlit sky, a white angel on her right, a dark angel on her left. The stars — the lamps outside the palaces of the Holy Ones — are shining.
Denotes one of intense mind capable of great acts. Very mediumistic, he is greatly influenced by his impressions and impulses. His path throughout his life is full of varied dangers, and he must be careful lest he miss the way. Let him often look up to the stars and pray for the guidance of the Good. It is a symbol of Restraint.

This symbol shows the starlight that this NM is offering us. The Mars Neptune conjunction is ideal for channeling and spotting the universe at work in your life. The NM squaring this conjunction can make us overlook these messages. The ruler of this NM is Jupiter in Sagittarius who is helping us see the restraints of our beliefs. The mid-point of a fire sign is the perfect time to burn away the old perceptions you have of yourself. Release them so you can lighten the load for your new journey.

Sagittarius reminds us to never lose hope because just when we’re about to give up, the arrow is released. Trust is the antidote for your poisoned beliefs during this New Moon.

Full Moon in Gemini November 22, 2018: Twinning Ideas

Moonbeams: Looks are deceiving

Lesson to be Learned: Belief is a sexy form of control when your motivations are fear based. When your thoughts and beliefs are passionate, your motivations are hopeful.

The Full Moon in Gemini is teaching everyone to slow down and sustain ideas by using power instead of force. It’s easy to be conned by our ideas and beliefs when we are acting out of fear instead of passion. So ask yourself the following questions:

“is the idea more important than the result?”

“can I accept that it could fail?”

“will hastiness somehow make the idea better?”

“does it make me feel excited or nervous?”

“what are the pros and con’s?”

The Aspects

Full Moon square Mars- anger and frustration

Moon opposite Jupiter- overenthusiastic

Mars square Jupiter- chasing a conquest

The ruler of the FM is Mercury who is retrograde in Sagittarius. This is making us rethink ideas that have become a bit fanatical. The aspects during this lunation are showing that we are feeling very fired up about ideas and beliefs and yet we have no raw manifesting power at this time. It can feel like you are arguing with yourself, trying to convince yourself that your ideas and thoughts are the real deal. Let’s keep in mind that Mercury is the trickster so what seems to be good and true is in fact not 100% accurate.

Mars has the loudest voice during the Full Moon and with him in the sign of Pisces, we have to let our burning thoughts cool off for a while in the watery domain of “let go and flow.”

Remember that every idea has a positive and negative side and fighting for one at the expense of the other will fracture or split the idea leaving you with nothing in the end. Let stuff come up but don’t get emotionally attached to it, because for all you know, what you’re fighting for could be the evil twin masquerading as the good twin.

New Moon in Scorpio November 7th, 2018: Passion Play

The theme of the NM in Scorpio is about bringing your dreams up to the surface. The aspects are telling you that passion is what motivates you to achieve your dreams. It’s a busy week in the cosmos as the nodal axis will be moving into Cancer/Capricorn for 1.5 years on November 7th and Jupiter will be moving into Sagittarius for 1 year on November 8th. These are big shifts that will help you nurture your aspirations.

Aspects

NM trine Neptune- a dream is a wish your heart makes

NM sextile Pluto- self- acceptance

Venus trine Mars- your values are your new motivation

Jupiter quincunx Uranus- different is the new normal

Jupiter trine North Node- opening your mind aligns you

The NM at 15 degrees Scorpio is a heavy energy suggesting that you are feeling burdened by your dreams. How often do your passions become weights when you choose to ignore them? My advice is to play with your passions. The positive energies of the planets are ripe for imagination. Take time to explore and analyze all that your passions have to offer and visualize your dreams coming true.

Nodal Axis in Cancer Capricorn November 2018- 2020: Folk-Heart

The North Node will be moving into Cancer and the South Node Capricorn on November 6, 2018 until 2020. Overall this will be a softening compared to the fired up axis in Leo Aquarius.

The North Node in Cancer will be shifting the focus away from “this is who I am” to “this is how I feel.” The North Node in Leo was about deconditioning. It was a time when you took some risks and pursued things that would empower you. Maybe you took up a new hobby or started a new creative project? Or maybe you flaunted your true colours instead of worrying about what your family and friends would think? Now that you have upgraded to a newer version of yourself, it’s time to feel it out.

The NN in Cancer will be a time of nurturing your mind, body, and spirit. Do what will feed your soul. You now know what lights you up from the North Node in Leo. Now you have to Mother it.

The South Node in Capricorn will gift everyone with perseverance and focus. You will need to use those qualities to achieve comfort in your life. A SN in Capricorn can make it difficult to focus on things besides career and wealth, but this will be the transit where lifestyles will be restructured. Have you ever met someone who had a successful career and then unexpectedly quit and decided to buy a farm and spend the rest of their days tending to sheep? Chances are they were born with this axis. It’s going to be less about the rat race and more about enjoying life. Here are some questions to reflect on:

What will make you feel emotionally fufilled in your life?

How do I really feel about this?

Look back to the years 2000/2001 to see what was happening in your life then. The NN was in Cancer at that time so see what Cancerian themes were happening for you.

Folk-Heart

I predict there will be more nationalism and ancestral healing coming up. Cancer rules our family and homeland so I believe many people will be visiting their homelands and many immigrants might choose to go back home. The NN in Cancer will see many people reconnecting (Cancer) to their roots (Capricorn). You will feel yourself pulling away from the known structures in your life but you won’t necessarily know where you are going. Whenever you find yourself gravitating towards your culture, rest assured that this is your higher self’s way of saying “home is where the heart is.” Living a life of passion and intention begins at home, the place where you can be intimate with your feelings. For some that will mean traveling abroad and for others that will mean getting comfy on the couch. Now that the Leo/Aquarius nodal axis has shown you who you really are, now you have to find the right environment that will allow you to honour this new self-honesty.

The NN in Cancer is about finding your place in the world which is in the loving embrace of a person or through loving life. You must nurture your life as if it were a small child. Loving life is the only way you can feel fulfilled. Ironically, the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach.

Full Moon in Taurus October 24, 2018: Plugging in the Power

Moonbeams: Love is coming in ways you would never expect.

The Full Moon in Taurus will see us electrified with some powerful new heart energy. This is not necessarily romantic, but more about feeling deeply fulfilled and inspired in your life.

The Aspects

FM conjunct Uranus- surprises, shocks, expect the unexpected

Venus opposite Uranus- awareness of values transforming

FM opposite Venus- awareness of what you need

Venus sextile Saturn- your desires are realistic

FM trine Saturn- everything is achievable

A New Power Source

With all of the restructuring going on this year, this FM is finally bringing some flashes of insight into why our lives have been rearranging the way that they have. Uranian energy brings those “aha moments” that gifts us with a sense of fun, adventure, and quirkiness. The dispositor of the FM is Venus retrograde in Scorpio which is about redefining our values by ways of purging old feelings around security. A good question to reflect on during this lunation is:

What would make you feel the most comforted and alive (ie; passionate, excited, awakened)? Don’t judge your answer. This is a Uranian FM, so the crazier it seems, the better!

For example; maybe having a new home would bring you a sense of comfort, yet traveling would make you feel alive. This FM in Taurus will help you realize that there is a way to have both at the same time!

Venus is opposing Uranus which is conjunct the FM which is showing that your needs can be met in non-traditional ways. The positive aspects being received by Saturn indicates that our life is being remodeled in order to align with our transforming ideals and desires.

Plugging in the Power

As the final FM during the Leo/Aquarius nodal axis, this lunation is our opportunity to express our biggest dreams no matter how “out there” they may seem. All of the planets are ready to spring into action to help make them a reality. Love is the ultimate power, and with a Taurus Full Moon completing our Leo/Aquarius axis, our heart chakra is fully charged. Get ready, because Uranus is about to plug itself into your heart outlet. Sparks will be flying!

Luminous Movie- Black Panther

Image result for black panther

I’m not a fan of Marvel movies or superheroes, but when Black Panther was released on Netflix I was curious to see what all the fuss was about. I have to admit, I enjoyed it! I thought the storyline was ingenious a meteorite with super high vibe minerals, an advanced country presenting itself as a third world country, and lots of metaphysical rituals. It left me thinking that nothing is ever as it presents itself. If Marvel keeps putting out movies with a new age twist like they did with Dr. Strange and Black Panther, I might actually become a fan of the superhero genre.

Superluminal Book of the Month- Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen

Image result for garden spells

Last month I visited my local New Age shop to purchase some books on Bach Flower Therapy. While perusing the shop, I came across a pile of books stacked on the floor whose top book was glistening under the flourescent lighting and whispering my name. It was Garden Spells. My synchonistic meeting with this book was beautiful. I went into the shop to purchase books on flower therapy (which I did) and left with a novel about floriography (the art of interpreting flowers). The messages in this book were what I needed to absorb at the time, and thus I am grateful for our encounter. This book follows two sisters and their magical garden in North Carolina. This was the second book to make me cry because I related so deeply to the sisters’ perseverance and struggles. If you think a magical apple tree and unrequited love might be your cup of tea, pick up a copy of Garden Spells...you won’t be disappointed.

New Moon in Libra October 8, 2018: Redecorating

The energy of this New Moon is that of change. Libra rules over appearances, specifically the many faces we wear and the deceptive old adage that “nothing is at it seems.” Libra energy looks to balance the desire for truth with the desire for security. How comfortable are you in your life? Why are you enduring discomfort when you have the power to change? Are the seductive lies you’re telling yourself worth more to you than your own happiness? It’s during this New Moon that we are being called to modernize our lives.

The Aspects

Sun square Pluto- a strong desire to control coming from the old withering away

Sun quincunx Neptune- your eyes are playing tricks on you

Moon conjunct Ceres- self care

Ceres square Pluto- the outside clashing with the inside

Libra energy refines and with her ruler Venus in retrograde in Scorpio it’s more about Redecorating. Think of your life right now as a room. What does it look like? Is it cluttered? Is it empty? Do you feel comfortable and secure in it? Or does it make you want to leave? If I had to guess, I would say it’s looking a little vintage right now. Venus retrograde is dusting off those boxes of old memories and pains and is putting them under the window to allow the sunlight to shine upon them.

A New Moon in Libra is the time when we feel most unlike ourselves. We’re going back and forth between the past and the present, inspiration and regret, acceptance and denial. This is so we can get better in touch with ourselves. Since Libra is such a visual energy, the way to bring some beauty and charm back into your life is by changing the way you look at things. Maybe that old tattered armchair just needs some reupholstery? Or maybe that mirror needs a new frame? What about a fresh coat of paint on the walls? The cosmic climate is not conducive for massive life altering changes right now. But what is supportive is the acknowledgement that everything has a purpose and that is what true homeostasis is…turning what seems like trash into treasure.

Full Moon in Aries September 24, 2018: True Grit

grit

/grit\

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, grit in the context of behavior is defined as “firmness of character; indomitable spirit.” Duckworth, based on her studies, tweaked this definition to be “perseverance and passion for long-term goals.”

The Full Moon in Aries is completing a cycle that began on April 16, 2018 when we had our New Moon in Aries. That New Moon which was the snapshot of energies we would be dealing with this year, happened to be conjunct Uranus. So this Full Moon begs the question “how has the instability of your life affected you this year?”

The Aspects

Moon conjunct Chiron- feeling extremely vulnerable

Moon square Capricorn- fears that are holding you back

Sun conjunct Mercury- self critical thoughts

Moon opposite Mercury- hard things to think and talk about

Moon sextile Mars- this too shall pass

Mars conjunct South Node- saying goodbye to the comparison trap

Moon trine North Node- be proud of your wounds

This is the heaviest moon of 2018. The major theme of this year has been about getting honest and real with ourselves which is the true grittiness of being authentic. This requires us looking into the stories we tell ourselves, the self-talk, & the hurts around our identity. Aries deals with our individuality, yet during the unexpected and abrupt experiences we’ve dealt with this year, we have been struggling with bridging the gap between our individualistic values and our needs. It’s only when we form solid values that we are our true selves.

At the same time, all of the major planetary cycles of this year- Saturn in Capricorn, Uranus in Taurus, Mars conjunct the South Node, Chiron in Aries, Mars square Uranus, the summer eclipses share all one thing in common: restructuring. So there is a push and a pull for us to create new values, yet that first requires us learning new things about ourselves. We are in the midst of an identity crisis and the only way to get through it, is to cultivate some self-acceptance. You can accept who you are by owning up to your feelings and by channeling your pain towards the North Node in Leo which our Moon and Chiron is supporting right now. Look to see which house the North Node is transiting and focus your energies there.

I don’t know exactly what the future holds, but I’m stepping forward with grit anchored in grace. -Julie Graham

The day after this Full Moon (September 25th), Chiron will be retrograding back into Pisces where we will have the chance to retrieve those forgotten spiritual lessons that we should be applying to our identity wounds. Pearls of wisdom await us but they require a gritty perseverance if we expect to retrieve them.

Can you rework your past? That grit that rubs in you, until it is shiny and smooth as a pearl?- Anne Funder

Autumn Equinox: The Drop

Our next stop on the Pagan Wheel of the Year brings us to the Autumnal Equinox.

The Astrology of the Equinox

Every year on September 22nd the Sun enters 0 degrees Libra which marks the first day of Autumn. Like the Spring Equinox, we have equal light and darkness on this day. For the next several months, the Sun will be dipped below the horizon, traversing the Autumn and Winter zodiac signs of Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, and Aquarius. This is the dark part of the year, and the Autumn Equinox signals the start of this journey into the unknown.

Mabon

The birth of Mabon ap Modron (Great Son of the Great Mother) is celebrated at the Equinox. He is born from his mother Modron (Great Mother), who is seen as the Guardian of the Otherworld, the Earth and the Protector. Mabon was stolen from his mother, Modron, when he was three nights old. In different versions of the story he was three years old. In one version of the myth the Eagle, the Owl, the Blackbird, the Stag and the Salmon rescued him, while in another King Arthur was the one who saved him. During his captivity, Mabon dwelled in a magical Otherworld -Madron’s Womb. Madron’s womb was a place of challenge and nurturing, and while there Mabon grew in strength and wisdom before being reborn as the Son of Light, his mother’s Champion.- Circleofthesacredmuse.com

Mabon is the old Anglo-Celtic festival of Harvest Home, a respite from the work of harvesting and a celebration of thanks. In remembrance of that time, it is often referred to as the “Witches’ Thanksgiving” and finishes off the witches’ year. It is one of the oldest harvest celebrations in Europe.

Mabon marks the end of the second harvest and is a time when the majority of crops have been gathered. Nuts, apples, grapes and berries are featured items at this Sabbat feast. Jams, jellies and wine are made at this time.

Spiritual Lessons of Autumn Equinox

After September 22nd, the days start to get a little cooler, trees begin changing colours, and summer flowers begin to fade away. This is the time in our Pagan Pregnancy story where we experience the “drop” of our frequency inside. We have arrived at the final trimester that began back at the Winter Solstice when a solar frequency was released, seeded at Imbolc, first seen at the Spring Equinox, felt at Beltane with the first heartbeat, celebrating the soul at the Summer Solstice, and preparing for the final trimester at Lammas.

The drop in pregnancy is the time when the fetus starts moving downward. Our creations are preparing to be released. It’s ironic that the bond between a Mother and her Baby first comes through the separation of the Baby leaving the comfort of the womb. So I ask you to reflect on the relationship with your Mother and with nurturing:

Is it a good relationship? Is it stifling?

How could your Mother have given you more comfort?

How could you have nurtured your Mother more?

What do you appreciate about each other?

What have you been neglecting that needs more attention?

What are you giving attention to that perhaps you should be letting go of?

What lessons did you learn from this past Summer?

We are coming close to birthing our creation at the Winter Solstice once again. To prepare for this, I would suggest reflecting on the relationship you have with your Mother. If we look back at the myth of Mabon, he was stolen away from his Mother and placed in an underworld type place. Only while away from his Mother, were both able to use their love and nurturing for one another to escape the darkness. This myth is similar to the Demeter Persephone story as well. The separation of Mother and Child allowed them to form a stronger relationship because they appreciated each other much more by being apart. Don’t we appreciate the seasons so much more once they’ve passed?

Mabon was a solar deity and by slipping below the horizon a.k.a the underworld, he underwent a deep introspection journey, allowing him to reflect upon his glory days on Earth. This helped him to truly embrace his individual power once he returned to Earth (Mother)…hence the balancing energy of the Equinox.

To Conclude…

Celebrating Mabon allows you to honour the process of life- that everything has a time and a season and that nurturing our endings is the most important part of the creation journey. Could you imagine if a pregnant woman began smoking and drinking at the end of her pregnancy? It would be catastrophic. So treat the Autumn Equinox as the time to comfort yourself as we approach the last big stretch of our journey.

New Moon in Virgo September 9, 2018: The Nines

The New Moon in Virgo on September 9, 2018 features some supportive energies meant to propel you into a new phase beginning this October.

The Aspects

New Moon opposite Neptune- this is a luminous influence that will help you step into your magic. Just when you thought you knew who you were, Neptune comes in and makes you believe you are confused and lost. Reflect.

New Moon sextile Jupiter- optimism and enthusiasm

New Moon trine Pluto- an archaelogical dig of your emotions will take place. Reflecting on your summer is favourable now.

Jupiter sextile Pluto- upgrading

The Nines

September 2018 is a 9 universal month. This number has a lot of negative associations as it is the number of completion, release, reflection, and endings. It can be a heavy energy, but we are being blessed with spell binding aspects during this New Moon. According to Pythagoras, he called the 9 “ocean and the horizon” because it had all the numbers within it and none beyond it, as the ocean contained all the water and all that is within the water and continued to the horizon as far as man could see. For after 9 is 10. All numbers following when added together to the last digit cannot produce a number higher than 9 as its root. So it returns itself as water to the ocean. Ironically, the most important aspects during this New Moon involves the watery planets Neptune and Pluto. So we are coming into ourselves.  Let’s not forget that Saturn also turned direct on September 6th which helps us move forward on newly renoed foundations. Venus also entered its shadow phase this week, kick-starting a deep alchemical process of shedding the old and welcoming in the new.

To Conclude…

The New Moon in Virgo is a 9 month energy on the 9th day of September. We are traversing the liminal boundaries of our world and the great potential that awaits us coming up this October when we enter a 1 universal month.

Virgo energy is here to refine, serve, and heal, so let’s not tell ourselves that we have to sacrifice our happiness and self-care at the expense of the 9 energy. Virgo is an earth sign and the way we handle its energy constitutes our understanding of the lessons we should have learned first inwardly. This New Moon is an initiation. Each 9 we come to is an initiation to a new cycle, because what follows is 10, the number of our gravitational field.
