Cypress Tree Transit and Personality- July 26-August 4 & Jan 25- Feb 3

The Cypress Tree is a tree of faithfulness in all areas of life- romance, friendship, and business.  As highly monogamous people, they typically only have a small number of partners in their life. As adaptable people, they don’t find happiness in abundance, but rather through the little small things in life. As highly honourable people, they have an strong ability to succeed in life and rarely rely on others. One of their greatest lessons is to be able to delegate tasks to others and to honour other people’s abilities as much as they honour their own. They may also experience confrontations with death throughout their life, either through experiencing many deaths, working in Palliative Care or other funerary line of work, or might question the finality of life. Appreciating the fragility of life and every single moment is a key soul lesson for Cypress Tree people.

During this transit you will find yourself extremely sensitive to your environment. It’s not uncommon to lash out at others in the workplace or at home, because Cypress transits hate anyone or anything invading their personal space. It’s best to spend as much time near water as possible for grounding purposes.

Magically, Cypress Trees are connected to death. It is used for binding and releasing and easing grief. This connection is due to the fact that Ancient Egyptians used Cypress wood to make their sarcophagi and the cross Jesus was crucified on is also made of Cypress. Cypress Trees are linked to the goddess Isis- so it’s also a good time to work with her energies as well.

Cypress means ‘ever living’ in Ancient Greek and can be found throughout art and literature as a symbol of death and mortality. Today Cypress wood is still used to make coffins in Egypt and in the US and France they are often planted in graveyards. This tree is sacred to the Cyprians to whom this tree is a native of.  This transit is one of endings- it may feel as though you are in a transitory state right now. It’s a time of letting go of the old in order to welcome in the new. You can experience a sort of ‘soul death’ or existential crisis that will assist you in rising up to your higher self. It’s the Cypress Tree’s strong association with resurrection that links it to the Obelisk, to which they look very similar. Ascension is likely during this transit.

*Agrippa connects Cypress Trees to Mars- perhaps this is due to its ability to grown in drought like conditions.

Road with Cypress and Star- Vincent Van Gogh- 1890

In a letter to his brother Theo, Van Gogh said this about Cypress Trees “”always occupying [his] thoughts” and that he found them “beautiful of line” and proportioned like an Egyptian obelisk. ”

The evening star on the left of the tree and the crescent moon on the right side of the Cypress might be connected to the conjunction of Venus and Mercury on April 20, 1890 when the luminescence of these two planets were comparable to the star Sirius.

The Cypress Tree in the middle of these two heavenly bodies is thought to represent death- an obelisk reaching up to the stars- as Cypress Trees are strongly associated with mortality. Historians of Art believe that Van Gogh knew he was going to die and wanted to paint a cosmic representation of this. The two companions walking down the path can be symbolic of the the physical body and the soul or Van Gogh’s desire for companionship and his depiction of universal love.

New Moon in Leo July 23, 2017: Your Kingdom Awaits

Date: July 23, 2017

Moonbeams: Fire! Fire! Fire!

Degree- 0 Degrees of Leo

Aspects: Sun and Moon Conjunct Mars in Leo Square Uranus in Fire

The overall theme of this NM is self empowerment. Fire energy is activating, spontaneous, unpredictable, and fast. Just take a look at all of the fire energy present at this time.

Sun in Leo= Fire

Moon in Leo= Fire

Mars in Leo= Fire + Fire

Uranus in Aries= Fire

Mercury in Leo= Fire

The big theme of 2017 has been de-conditioning- letting go of the known in order to build your new foundation. But this has required a lot of soul searching, releasing, and re-evaluating. It has been an incredibly intense inner process. Fire energy on the other hand burns right to the heart (Leo) of the matter. It doesn’t require psycho-analysis or deep release work. All Leo wants you to do is to step into your Kingdom or Queendom by trusting the spontaneity of this time which manifests as instant presence.  Major changes are unfolding over the next weeks through activating passionate responses from you. There’s no more dillying dallying around things or needing to feel them out before you decide to act. Trust your initial responses at this time as 0 degrees of Leo marks an important creation point. Change can only occur when you yourself change.

Emotions will go unchecked which are a necessary part of change. This does not mean that you can be reckless or irresponsible with how you choose to react, rather the highest expression of Leo is inner truth. Observe your emotions from a place of neutrality in order for them to move through you and set fire to whatever needs to be activated at this time.

There’s no room for self pity or tears during these next 2 weeks. It’s time to strengthen your will, to stoke the fires of your soul by acting from a place of passion, as this is your truth, this is who you ARE without the illusory waters, hardened earth, or analytical air. Fire is uncontainable, it both destroys and creates at the same time, much like 2017 has been contradictory at times for us all.

Leo is connected to royalty because Kings amd Queens answer to nobody. They command presence through their stoic presentation. It’s time to come out of the shadows and embrace the crown. Your kingdom within awaits you.

Elm Tree Transit & Personality- July 15-25 & January 12-24

“Sleep thou and I will wind thee in my arms

…the female ivy so

Enrings the barky fingers of the Elm

O, how I love thee! O how I dote on thee!”

-A Midsummernight;s Dream

The Elm Tree is the tree of attractiveness. If you were born under the protection of this tree you are very attractive. You also have a strong sense of justice, as you are very hard on yourself and others. You are open and honest, making you a faithful friend. You are also very conscious of your health making you a health nut.  You are a very peaceful and relaxed person who takes very good care of their family. You are very patient with kids and are gentle with animals. You work hard to achieve your idealistic fantasies- the word NO doesnt exist in your vocabulary. Stability at home with a long term partner and supportive family is what gives you emotional security. There is a problem with wanting security but also needing change. When you focus your creativity, you will have the best of both worlds.

The Elm Tree transit is about being mindful of your energy. Stagnation is possible now, so make sure you keep active through exercise- I would recommend Tai Chi or Yoga as they both help to re-distribute the chi or life force in the body. Spiritually, it is possible to grow by leaps and bounds this week, learning and discovering a lot about yourself. Elm Trees are famous for their ornamental value, so expect to be more attractive now.  You will be extra sensitive to other people;s words, so just take time to do some grounding exercises. In Ancient times, Elm Trees were planted alongside grape vines as their twiggy branches acted as lattice for the climbing grape vines. A need to reach your goals will be heightened this week as well. Elm Trees used to be planted in cities that won revolutions, so expect to be victorious this week on a number of levels. When you are able to be active, self-discovery and achievements will follow suit.

Full Moon in Capricorn July 8/9- Chained to the Rhythm

Date: July 8/9

Moonbeams- Purging, Awakening, Self-Awareness

Many Astrologers are calling this the most intense moon of the year. This is due to the Full Moon in Capricorn being conjunct Pluto- planet of the underworld. This is the alchemical equation for transformation- bringing together Capricorn- the sign of emotional responsibility, and Pluto- the planet of depth. There is also a T-Square with the Sun in Cancer conjunct Mars in Cancer, squaring Jupiter in Libra.  You will feel on edge, explosive, and overly emotional.  The square to Jupiter in Libra will show you how you react and how others react to you. It’s about making the choice on how you want to react to people and situations. You always have the choice. When you throw Pluto and Jupiter into the mix, over-exaggerated reactions and feelings can come up, due to subconscious fears. If you think back to the February eclipses which this lunation is triggering, your subconscious fears were on full display at that time, by either coming true, or spurring an emotional response within you.  Pluto loves to bring to light that which is hidden, and conjunct the illuminating Moon, you will have a better and deeper understanding of what is holding you back.  It’s important to remember, that there is a lot going on behind the scenes right now, and our planetary configurations are trying to get you to wake up how to your attachments (Mars in Cancer) to feelings (Cancer Sun) and situations are holding you back. Understanding that your internal feelings create your external reality is the most important lesson of this Full Moon in Capricorn. The sign of Capricorn is here to teach us how to emotionally detach. When Caps have a goal, they accomplish it, slowly but surely, without investing a lot of their emotions into it.  Capricorn just wants you to compose yourself and move on! As an earth sign moon, we must turn to nature to help us cope during these emotionally intense times. Nature has a rhythm and a cycle, if flowers got too attached to blooming, they would never go dormant- and this would kill them. Remember, attachments are like chains, and if you want to be free to live your life, you must cut them away! We’re all used the rhythm of our life, but the time has come to make a change, invite it, welcome it, and surrender to it.

I thought Katy Perry’s song ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ was a great explanation of this moon. This song is about how we get comfy and cozy in our little worlds- which is actually to our detriment because we’re not truly living and evolving.

Apple Tree June 22-July 4 & Dec 23-Jan 1- Personality & Transit

If you were born during the above dates, then you were born under the influence of the Apple Tree. Overall these are extremely gifted people. Many consider the Apple Tree to be the tree of love. In Greek mythology, Apples are sacred to Aphrodite, and it was Eris who threw a golden apple into a wedding party which was the catalyst for the Trojan War.  Apples also appear throughout Norse mythology as symbols and fruits of fertility. When Apples are cut vertically, they actually look like the womb. Beautiful, attractive, and constantly thinking about love, they fall in love everyday and enjoy love-making. Their love can be secretive, passionate, jealous. They need to stay honest and open within their relationships so as not to complicate them. They also find it difficult to stay faithful. They earn and spend money easily because they are not attached to it so they find themselves in debt. They live in the moment and can have many false-friends. Apple Tree people need a lot of nurturing from a very young age and if they don’t receive this, they can feel a huge void in their life. These individuals tend to have a very thick skin, similar to the wax coating of apples.  They are also very different from parents.

This transit is all about love- you will feel more loving, will receive more adoration, and should wear and work with rose quartz and the colour red. As the forbidden fruit, it would also be an excellent time to study the occult.  The old name for Apple is Silver Bough, because apples were believed to grow on the silver bough of the underworld and held the power of immortality. Beware of excessive indulgences and contracting bugs and illnesses. A quarrel with your parents can also happen, so think before you speak. Overall a great time for love and esoterica.

Birch Tree June 21- Personality & Transit

If you were born on the longest day of the year  (Summer Solstice) you are beautiful, elegant, and refined. You are energetic and your optimism is contagious. Friendly, you are good natured and charming. You could be a writer or a leader because you are not afraid of big projects. You could do a lot for the benefit of others and be involved in some type of charity work. Your good looks, creativity and charisma open the door for other endevors. You are not oblivious to your life lessons and your memory is great. In love you follow both your intuition and intelligence, and work to have a passionate relationship. You have the quality of a Divine trailblazer but you also appreciate your family and home. Often times, Birch Tree people discover their life purpose early on in life.

During the Birch Tree transit, tempers can come and go in a flash. You can commit to too many projects at once during this time. Opportunities can also present themselves at this time, so it’s important to be flexible. The Summer Solstice marks a time for new beginnings, so expect a lot to transpire over these next 3 months. The word ‘Birch’ came from the Sanskrit word Bhurga- meaning tree whose bark is used for writing upon. This is an excellent time for writing, poetry, fiction etc… Birch is used in many pagan celebrations and rituals- Imbolc- white bark is used to symbolise the return of light along with candles. Beltane- maypole was made of Birch bark. The dark and white colours of the tree indicates rebirth and new beginnings. The notchings in the tree look like eyes- so ESP will be heightened during this transit.  Overall a very busy, psychic, and communicative time!

Ruling Planet- Venus
