Walnut Tree Transit: October 24-31

Planet- Jupiter

Element- Water

According to Slavic Tree Astrology- the Walnut Tree transit is one of transitions. Ruling over Scorpio season, this transition is one of stepping into an unknown place. The Walnut Tree will endow you with a strong sense of decisiveness. Staying true to your morals (Jupiter) and values will become the focus as you might find them challenged at this time. With such a strong sense of inner stability, you must not be inflexible. The more you are able to surrender (Water) and trust the process of life, the more you will be able to enjoy the fruits that this tree transit has to offer. Step into this new place confident in who you are and share your unique talents with the world. The Walnut Tree will assist you in forging your own path without the influence of other people. Wonderful new opportunities await you, so take a chance!

Astro-Witchery: Little Scorpion

If you are not familiar with the television series ‘Penny Dreadful,’ stop everything you’re doing, take a couple of days off, and binge-watch the entire series. “Many people are familiar with classic literary characters like Dr. Frankenstein and Dorian Gray. Penny Dreadful brings those and other characters into a new light by exploring their origin stories in this psychological thriller that takes place in the dark corners of Victorian London.”

One of the main characters is Vanessa Ives- played by the marvelously Gothic actress Eva Green. Vanessa Ives is a psychic medium, cartomancer, and witch, who’s nick name is Little Scorpion which was given to her by the very first witch she met. Throughout the series- Vanessa draws a scorpion symbol in blood which acts as her totem, talisman, and sigil. She draws the Scorpion symbol as a means to protect herself and to delve deeper within herself. The origins of this symbol are revealed later in the show, but it’s very obvious that Vanessa Ives is a Scorpio. She is seductive, dark, and has many emotional demons…….and some not so emotional demons residing inside her. She seems to know throughout her whole life that there is something dark within her that she does not dare release…….a common Scorpionic theme.

Sigils

If Vanessa uses the Scorpion symbol as her protective talisman and as a means to connect to her inner demons without unleashing them, than that must mean that we can use our own symbols for the same purpose.

This is the sigil for Scorpio:

The M of the sigil signifies Mother Earth and the planet Mars which is Scorpio’s traditional ruler. The tail represents the Scorpion’s tail and poison which is its ability to paralyze people using psychological techniques.

I created a ritual using the character Vanessa Ives as inspiration.

The Ritual- Ives (pronounced Iv-ez) Scorpionem

Find a quiet space.

Close all the lights.

Light a black candle.

Have a few blank pieces of paper ready along with a red pen or marker.

Begin by drawing the Scorpio sigil- size doesn’t matter.

Continue drawing the sigil, allowing your mind to wander.

The Scorpio sigil will activate your own Scorpionic energies within you.

What are you feeling that wants to be unleashed?

When you recognize what this feeling is, stop drawing the sigil.

Take a piece of smoky quartz in each hand- and recite these words:

“I am strong-willed and agile like the Scorpion.”

“I am most who I am unrestrained.”

Blow out the black candle.

Scatter sea salt on your Scorpion sigils.

Collect all of your sigils into one pile.

Place a piece of Aquamarine on the top page of the pile to wash away any negative energies.

The ritual is complete.

Perform the ritual every Tuesday during Scorpio season.

Moonbeams: Authenticity & Inner-demons

The New Moon finds the Sun and Moon both in the sign of Libra. Libra represents the cosmic mirror- where we project ourselves onto others- the good, the bad, and the ugly. This NM will  show us how we have been unbalanced in our dealings with others. Have we been too self-sacrificing, or too self-indulgent? Either way, there are issues surrounding authenticity present at this lunation.

Uranus making an opposition to the New Moon is forcing us to approach our imbalances in a new way. We can do this by embracing our differences and respecting those who disagree with our choices.

The New Moon making a quincunx to the wounded healer Chiron suggests our own mirrors have become very distorted. The blinders are coming off. Perhaps we won’t like what we actually see, but Chiron is letting us know that we might have to confront old issues and pains around suppressing our true nature.

Jupiter and Mercury both being conjunct in Scorpio is helping us to bring back our power (Jupiter) by first bringing to the surface secrets buried deep within and processing them through logic (Mercury). Healing can only occur when we first clean up sewer (Scorpio) so to speak.

We can clearly see the themes from this NM in the media today. Seedy exposes around power, sexual abuse, and secrets- Harvey Weinstein being the prime example.

The major lesson the New Moon in Libra will offer us is to speak and live our truth to induce deep rooted healing. Venus the ruler of this moon is unaspected meaning her energies are free to do as they wish. Approach everything from a place of love as opposed to hate to help release your own inner demons. This will allow you to get back into your body and frequency without having uninvited visitors lurking in your underworld.

The song ‘Demons’ by Imagine Dragons perfectly captures the essence of this lunation. It’s about warning a significant other (Libra) about your demons. For so long things and feelings of ours were treated like demons- something evil and powerful. Guess what? Now as a collective we are experiencing a major exorcising of all of humanity’s demons.

Maple Tree Transit: October 14-23

Planet- Moon

Element- Water

The Maple Tree transit is one of change. Ruled by the moon, there will be many small changes that you will have to deal with during this time. The Maple Tree will provide a sense of nurturing during all of the changes so remember to be gentle with yourself. There is a sweetness to life which will become apparent, so take time for yourself to indulge and unwind. Think positively and if you find yourself lost or hurt, look to the Maple Tree for inspiration. It is a sturdy tree that can withstand the harshness of the Northern elements. You too will be able to endure anything so long as you stand firm in who you are. Humour and laughter can also do wonders at this time.

Reflections on my Jupiter Return

This year I experienced my Jupiter Return in Libra which affected my 4th house. Jupiter in Libra generally speaking was about spiritual diplomacy. It was about learning to embrace sovereignty and letting go of self sacrifice. When you are able to accomplish this, you will have achieved the soul lesson of Libra- balance.

My Jupiter Return

Since September 2016 until today, I have had many lessons around this theme. Since Jupiter expands whatever it touches, Jupiter in Libra expanded all of the imbalances in my own life. The 4th house in Astrology rules home and family and it was in this area of my life, that I learned my most important lessons.

Firstly, the desire to want to move out of my parents home became very strong. I had visions of my own space and found myself fantasizing about what this space would like like. I started to reflect on why I wanted to leave, and I came to the conclusion that it was because I needed more alone time to get in touch with what it is that I truly wanted to experience in my life.

This was also the year that I told my family what some of my personal goals and deepest needs and desires were. This was a huge step for me because I do seek approval quite a lot, but since voicing my needs, I’ve found myself less worried about what my family thinks of me.

Biggest Lessons

This biggest lesson for me this year was about honouring my own needs and path before my family’s.  I struggled with this, as I thought it was selfish of me to put them last, but if I wasn’t in a good place- I couldn’t possibly be there for them.

Jupiter Returns mark major spiritual transformations in a person’s life, and for me, not only did I share (Libra) some of my deepest wants and needs with my family (4th house Jupiter Return), but I saw my creativity also explode.

The sign that Jupiter traditionally rules over is Pisces- and having my Moon, Mercury, and Midheaven in Pisces (even my Sun according to Vedic Astrology), I saw my spiritual career take off. I wrote a lot this year, published quite a bit, saw The Luminessence evolve, and scored my dream job at a New Age shop. I believe this happened because I got honest with myself and my family.

My proudest accomplishment with my Jupiter Return was being able to share more of I was with my family and having their support to chase my non-traditional dreams. I embraced my own sovereignty and stopped sacrificing who I was for them.

In Sidereal Astrology- Jupiter will be entering the constellation of Libra this year. I guess that means I will be experiencing a double Jupiter Return? Double the trouble I guess!

Full Moon in Aries October 5, 2017: Putting Out the Flames

Moonbeams

Moon in Aries opposite Sun in Libra- you vs me

Moon opposite Mercury- feelings are not being communicated

Pluto Square Moon- Control and change is needed, but we feel nervous about having to make a change

Mars in Virgo conjunct Venus in Virgo- small details is what is needed now, gentle energy

Mars trine Pluto- taking small practical steps is the way to handle all of this fire

Mars square Saturn- we want the small steps to make fast changes, but Saturn is slowing us down with his methodology

Mars opposite Neptune- just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean there isn’t work going on behind the scenes

A full moon in Aries always sets off fire alarms in the cosmos. Action for the sake of action is meaningless until inspiration is thrown into the mix. I get the feeling that for the past couple of months, on an individual level, we have been robotically living, meaning that our lives have been hectic and busy but missing joy and heartfelt ambition. When we are in the season of Libra, it becomes very obvious where we have been giving too much of ourselves at the expense of our own well-being. The Full Moon in Aries is going to push us to take small practical steps to change our lives. With the moon opposing Neptune this can be as simple as saying “no” or standing up for yourself. It is during fiery times that we come to appreciate the little things in life. It’s time to take a break and pay attention to whether your hectic lifestyle is for selfish reasons and if you are offsetting this by taking the time to help others? Venus in Virgo conjunct Mars in Virgo shows the need to want to express loving sentiments to others, and we must remember that when we serve others we are indirectly serving ourselves. The most important thing to keep in mind during this lunation is have you been self-serving or self-sacrificing lately? And is there a difference between the two?

My Astrology Conundrum

Thoughts……

Astrology is a complex science that can be scary for many people. The scariness comes from the idea that you have no control over your life and that free will is non-existent. That’s a whole different blog post (coming soon), but I wanted to address the idea and fact that the planets don’t control us, rather, we influence their movements.

If you think about it, if we choose what kind of life we are going to incarnate into, then that must mean, the planets have to acommodate this, by aligning a certain precise way the moment we are born, and continue to play their cosmic chess game in the sky.

I believe it is our range of consciousness that determines the movements of the planets. The intensity we experience here on earth directly affects the heavenly bodies up above. I don’t believe the planets force us to experience certain events in our lives, but rather, as we evolve the planets help to facilitate this. I’ve noticed when I have gone through hard times in my life, the cosmic energies at the time were very gentle and soft. Of course when we’re ready to experience struggle- the planets will make it happen up there too.

Everything is a mirror of us. The further people have moved away from source, the higher the cancer rates (people are literally rotting away). The more fiery people are, the hotter the weather. The more open people have been about taboos, the more naked society has become (the rise of nudity). The more we search for meaning in our lives, the more awakened we have become (the rise of mainstream spirituality).

Next time you dread that planetary alignment or “bad” transit, pay attention to what you’re thinking because that is the magnet to the planets.

And so it is.
