The aspects of this Full Moon reminds me of the above quote by Rilke. This lunation will be opening the gates (Saturn) of our perception to see a path that until this point was obscured by thorny bushes, a carpet of dried leaves, and creepy crawlers. We are going to receive information that is going to force us to say good-bye to the yellow brick road that has brought us to this destination. It’s time for us to embark on a new journey.

For many of us, we will be making some important decisions over the next two weeks regarding the direction of our life. The Full Moon will be guiding us to a place where our actions can connect to our purpose in a meaningful way.  She will be forcing us into the beyond where spirit and matter converge to birth new life. In fact, this Full Moon will be conjunct the Galactic Centre where it is believed souls enter and leave. It will feel scary leaving the past behind, and with some difficulties with Saturn showing up at this time, we will need to feel the implications of moving out into the beyond in our physical reality so we can better orient (Sagittarius) ourselves. When things come to an end, and when life gets difficult, it’s because things are being removed and reworked for our benefit. Sagittarius is all about truth and whatever is untrue must go.

A Sagittarius Full Moon is a silver opportunity to shine a light upon the journey that we call life. Let life guide you. It’s never lead you astray.

New Moon in Taurus May 4, 2019: Love Yourself

The New Moon in Taurus is going to be drawing a fine line between the ego and the heart. Our ego prevents us from accepting those parts of ourselves that challenge the “norm.” Yet our heart is in fact the one making those parts of ourselves stronger, louder, and more visible. The lesson here is to love yourself completely and unconditionally. You do this by acknowledging every thought, choice, decision, and feeling as it appears.

The Aspects

Sun sextile Neptune- greater sensitivity and thinking things are better than they actually are.

Mars opposite Jupiter- trying to force your truth without first knowing what your truth is

Venus square Saturn & Pluto- letting go of who you think you are

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

The recurring message of these aspects is a lack of grounding- a difficulty in seeing your reality and life for as it is. At this New Moon you are being called to stop using indulgences as a form of avoidance. When you begin comforting yourself, you bring yourself back into alignment with the rhythmical energies of Earth, receiving clarity in abundance.

The Moon is quite happy in Taurus as she is exalted here, but her longing for stability and security is going to be at odds with what is happening internally. The ruler of the New Moon is Venus in Aries who is not happy here. Venus in Aries has to get clear on what her values are and to surrender completely to who she is no matter what people think of her. Venus will be at 17 degrees Aries near the Sun’s exaltation degree of 19 degrees Aries so we need to burn away our ego and embrace who we are.

The kozminsky symbol for 17 degrees Aries is:

18º Aries: The goddess Venus holding out her hands to a wounded soldier, who is painfully trying to reach her.
Denotes sympathy. Many times will the native stumble and fall by the way, but ever will there be a bright light before him to dispel the darkness of the night and to dissipate his fears. The mind is aspiring, but to reach its ideal, pain and struggle are involved. The native must not falter, for very nigh unto him is his hope-a little sacrifice and endeavor will unite him to it. It is a symbol of Upraising.

This degree allows us to recognize our pain and wounds as being the means to which we can unite our heart and mind which is the only way to create tangible changes in our lives. We must stop criticizing ourselves and start respecting our differences and shadows because they are begging for love, they are messages coming from our heart as I mentioned at the beginning of this post.

Love Yourself

Taurus energy is all about indulging in the pleasures of the Earth, but these sensual indulgences are transitory and disposable. We need to be self-indulging which means comforting our wounded inner child, speaking to our neglected voice, hugging our pain body, soothing our over-worked mind, and saying hello to our shadow who is standing fearfully in the corners of our psyche. Acknowledgment is a form of love.

Full Moon in Libra April 19, 2019: Light Spectrum

The Full Moon in Libra is occurring at 29 degrees Libra which is an anaretic degree, so the push to harmonize and bring together seemingly separate things is at its strongest…not to mention this our second Full Moon in Libra in 2019. The Moon is about to enter the watery depths of zero degrees Scorpio- where the water is murky and black, where we will need to explore these new depths, where light can be located.

The 29th degree of the Moon speaks about an accumulation of energy, or we can say justice since the Moon is in Libra. But what is justice?

The Symbols

The Sabian Symbol for 29 Libra is: Libra 30: Three Mounds of Knowledge on a Philosopher’s Head

This is about getting out of our heads and seeing the bigger picture. It’s about seeing the truth of a situation and there is nothing more truthful than justice (Libra).

The Kozminsky Symbol for this FM is: 30º Libra: A boy moping over his book in a schoolroom.
Denotes one who will have to wake up else he will be elbowed out of everything by others more vigorous. He is possessed of good mental qualities, is well-mannered and good-natured, but he allows others to take advantage of him, and he will suffer from deceit and unfairness. It is a symbol of Sluggishness.

This symbol is also about taking a step back to blur your eyes so you can truly see what is in front of you. The sluggishness is about a softening of the gaze.

The Aspects

The only major aspect during this FM is the Moon opposition to Uranus. This means we will have a strong need to go it alone and in order for us to bring together the “three mounds of knowledge” – Heaven, Earth, & Man.

The dispositor of the FM is Venus at 28 degrees Pisces. The Sabian Symbol for her is:

Pisces 29: The Light Passing Through A Prism

This is about acknowledging the connection between all things. It’s about understanding the relationship (Libra) between the whole and the parts. It’s about seeing how everything is connected. Venus is just one degree past its exaltation point so it speaks about the light of the universe being found in our heart. We have to appreciate the beauty of inter-connectedness. When we are able to truly see the balance of life “as above so below, as without so within,” miracles happen.

There is a beautiful quote from the book/film ‘Winter’s Tale’ which evokes the energy of this lunation:

Justice can sleep for years and awaken when it is least expected. A miracle is nothing more than dormant justice from another time arriving to compensate those it has cruelly abandoned.”- Winter’s Tale, Mark Halprin

To Conclude…

The Full Moon in Libra is asking us to believe in ourselves and the luminous connections we radiate out of our heart. To believe in yourself is to believe in heaven, earth, and humanity. It’s about believing in love.

Take some time during this Full Moon to think about everything you are connected to. Start with a person who is close to you and map out every person that person knows. Try it with an object, or a place, or something close to your heart. You will see that those things that mean something to you are but beams of love who form connecting prisms of light with every other thing in this world. The scales of justice are a light spectrum, we can only see the entirety of light by coming to a balanced place within our hearts first.

Once again here is another quote from ‘Winter’s Tale.’

“All rivers run full to the sea; those who are apart are brought together; the lost ones are redeemed; the dead come back to life; the perfectly blue days that have begun and ended in golden dimness continue, immobile and accessible; and, when all is perceived in such a way as to obviate time, justice becomes apparent not as something that will be, but something that is.” – Winter’s Tale, Mark Halprin

25 Things I’ve Learned in 25 Years

Today I am officially 26 years old! I thought it would be nice to reflect back on my 25 years and think about 25 things I’ve learned in this time span.

  1. We are expressions of our environment, not products.
  2. Not enough care is given to those who are struggling in the wrong environment. We over-care for the thriving.
  3. Your wound is what gives your life form. It is the archetype that informs your story.
  4. Compassion is the only way to change your perception.
  5. Our heart is the muscle we use the least.
  6. Our family is a microcosm of all lessons we must learn in our life.
  7. One failure doesn’t erase all your successes.
  8. Don’t be obstructed by your own intense deliberations.
  9. The hardest wall to break through is people.
  10. If you truly respect something you will listen to every opinion with an open mind.
  11. We all get to experience everything in life, but not all of it will be obvious traditional.
  12. If you are triggered by a nasty or rude comment, you are valuing it.
  13. We can’t fight for justice because it’s superior to fighting.
  14. Luck implies randomness which doesn’t exist.
  15. Spiritual awakenings occur in order to be passed on.
  16. Nobody cares what you’re doing because they’re too consumed with themselves.
  17. Self-love is believing that you have the freedom to do you.
  18. Stop being a shoulder to cry on and you’ll see who was just using you for emotional support.
  19. Petty people are just young souls.
  20. Certain things don’t happen to you because they would be too much of a distraction.
  21. Everything is fine and will be OK.
  22. Always speak your truth even if people judge you, because it’s better to be around authentic centered people instead of phonies.
  23. Treat your passions as your career.
  24. Have conversations with your guides….greet them in the morning and wish them a goodnight.
  25. Always remain optimistic because everything falls into place when you’re ready 😉

New Moon in Libra October 8, 2018: Redecorating

The energy of this New Moon is that of change. Libra rules over appearances, specifically the many faces we wear and the deceptive old adage that “nothing is at it seems.” Libra energy looks to balance the desire for truth with the desire for security. How comfortable are you in your life? Why are you enduring discomfort when you have the power to change? Are the seductive lies you’re telling yourself worth more to you than your own happiness? It’s during this New Moon that we are being called to modernize our lives.

The Aspects

Sun square Pluto- a strong desire to control coming from the old withering away

Sun quincunx Neptune- your eyes are playing tricks on you

Moon conjunct Ceres- self care

Ceres square Pluto- the outside clashing with the inside

Libra energy refines and with her ruler Venus in retrograde in Scorpio it’s more about Redecorating. Think of your life right now as a room. What does it look like? Is it cluttered? Is it empty? Do you feel comfortable and secure in it? Or does it make you want to leave? If I had to guess, I would say it’s looking a little vintage right now. Venus retrograde is dusting off those boxes of old memories and pains and is putting them under the window to allow the sunlight to shine upon them.

A New Moon in Libra is the time when we feel most unlike ourselves. We’re going back and forth between the past and the present, inspiration and regret, acceptance and denial. This is so we can get better in touch with ourselves. Since Libra is such a visual energy, the way to bring some beauty and charm back into your life is by changing the way you look at things. Maybe that old tattered armchair just needs some reupholstery? Or maybe that mirror needs a new frame? What about a fresh coat of paint on the walls? The cosmic climate is not conducive for massive life altering changes right now. But what is supportive is the acknowledgement that everything has a purpose and that is what true homeostasis is…turning what seems like trash into treasure.

The No-Self Help Book by Kate Gustin: REVIEW

The No-Self Help Book by Kate Gustin proposes that the inner voice inside of us has hijacked our sense of knowing who we are. Essentially, we are not our “self” because the self does not exist. The self in modern Western society and psychology is most similar to the “ego” but further research has discovered that it’s actually a complex system that is controlling, persecuting, and dis-empowering. This was layed out in the ‘Introduction’ which was easy to understand and got me interested in reading the rest of the book.

The first part of the book ‘Selfhoods’ was the strongest section of this book in my opinion. It clearly outlined all of the ways we buy into our own stories at the expense of truly living an expansive life. We tend to over-identify with our emotions and narratives which degrades any values and dreams that we might have. The theme throughout this first section was about understanding that we are not our thoughts, and this is facilitated through having a solid value system. The second section of the book ‘No-Self Speaks’ was eye-opening. It was written in first person so that it seemed like the “no-self” was speaking directly to you. It outlined all of the ways we distort reality by listening to the demands of our emotions. On a side note, this whole section could have been included in the introduction whereby we learn that the “no-self” is just a clever name for consciousness…that we are an extension of everything. The theme throughout this second section was about not taking anything personally. The third section of the book ‘To Self or Not to Self’ combined the previous two sections of the book to show how following the guidance presented in this book can bring more presence and awareness to your life, as the author says “No-self is the largest context in which awareness of everything arises.” It becomes obvious in this chapter that we do have the power to choose our thoughts and feelings. Questions to ask oneself in certain situations and in interactions to bring attention to the “no-self” were included throughout this section which was very much needed. I will say that the sub-section on ‘Decision Making’ was weak and unresolved.

I have only read this book once, but I know I will be using these techniques to the best of my ability. As someone who tends to over-think and over-analyze things, I found this book to be extremely eye-opening. It was a little unsettling to discover that most self-help books out there are indirectly serving the ego. For this reason, I believe Kate Gustin is disrupting the whole self-help industry which is long over-due. This book is revolutionary, and ironically, The No-Self Help Book has helped me a lot.

You Are Magical by Tess Whitehurst: REVIEW

Tess Whitehurst has become quite the celebrated author in the New Age world. I mean who hasn’t read her first book Magical Housekeeping, or turned to Magic of Flowers come gardening season? I know I have, and when I heard that Tess was publishing a new book, I knew had to get my hands on it.

You Are Magical takes all of the new agey information out there and brings it back down to the basics……you. It’s a Me, Myself, & Magic book where you come to understand that YOU are the source of magic. It doesn’t always have to be about tarot cards and crystals (although these are both discussed in this book) but we have reached a point in the spiritual communities where WE don’t really seem to matter anymore. It’s become about the latest pretty deck and Mercury Retrograde cycle more than it is about our own role to play in it.

You Are Magical reminds you that your magical power lies within. The book begins with a heartfelt preface that sets the mood for the entire book. Tess describes magic as an inherent feeling, that special something that we all possess, but have been conditioned to forget. The following chapters delve deeper into this, teaching you how to reconnect with that sacred part of yourself. Reconnecting allows you to live a life of wonder and purpose creating an incredible self awareness that empowers you to live life on your own terms.

Each chapter contains assignments to help you develop this self- awareness. Some are as simple as sitting in nature and noticing how it makes you feel, while others are more complex such as pondering why you are drawn to certain objects. The assignments in this book might seem easy at first but these are important first steps that everyone, no matter where they are on their spiritual journey, should do. This book will help you to take responsibility for your spiritual practice as opposed to partaking in quick fix witchy schemes. You will learn about ego desires versus authentic desires, societal conditioning, and how to personalize your craft. The end of the book contains a series of spells that will put to the test all of your previous assignments in this book. The quality and success of your spell work is largely dependent on the health of your magic-are you disconnected from the universe, or are you anchored in your own power? This book will help you answer those questions and more.

You Are Magical weaves luminous threads of authenticity, inspiration, and self empowerment throughout leaving you with a deeper sense of who you are…and I couldn’t think of anything more magical than that.

Chiron in Aries 2018-2027: The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

Chiron the Wounded Healer is an asteroid in our solar system that orbits between Saturn & Uranus. Orbiting between these two planets suggests that Chiron’s energies are strong and awakening.

Chiron was a healer in Greek Mythology, and an immortal centaur. One day he was struck by a poisoned arrow from Hercules, which Chiron taught him how to make. He lived with incredible pain until he offered up his immortality to Prometheus who we know later gave fire to mankind.

This story shows us that we are our own worst enemy at times, and surrender is absolutely key to living a pain free life. Chiron’s placement in our horoscope shows us where are deepest wound is in our life and at the same time, how we can heal all that’s unwell in our life. The wound is a symptom of something larger going on within.

Chiron in Pisces

Chiron was transiting Pisces from 2010 until April 17, 2018. This 8 year transit saw us delving deep into the mystical energies of Pisces. It was a time where a lot of people underwent some serious spiritual awakenings and it was during this period that we saw the “New Age” becoming more mainstream. Fanaticism, deception, and floods, tsunamis, and hurricanes were running rampant. On a personal level, Chiron in Pisces forced us to swim in the deep waters of our subconscious, to peel back the layers of our 3rd dimensional reality to understand that what we see is not true reality. Many people underwent serious spiritual transformations.

Chiron in Aries

Chiron will move in and out of Aries until 2019- so the real hard work of Aries will be felt more in 2019.

Aries is the sign of self. It is an independent, initiative, birthing, soul forging through into new life energy.

Collective Level

On a collective level, Chiron in Aries will bring out a more self serving energy similar to the “America First” thing going on in the United States. I predict there will be less solidarity as everyone will be in it for themselves. Aries greatest wound is learning to accept help from others, so on a global scale, I predict there will be more push backs against trade agreements and geographical agreements such as the European Union and NAFTA. I also predict there will be more wars, and the devastation caused by war will force everyone to take a hard look at themselves. I actually noticed as soon as Chiron entered Aries, a G7 summit was held, and a lot of Western movies were airing on the television. The Wild West is a perfect illustration of a Chiron in Aries energy, because it was  “an every man in it for himself time.”

Personal Level

On a personal level, Chiron in Aries will offer deep healing of our identity. We will come to learn so much more about who we are and what our place is in the vast world and universe. We will be questioning our purpose and existence asking the question “Who am I?”

Another large wound of Aries is self love. A soul born with a lot of Arian energy usually lacks self love. This is because with a lot of Aries energy comes a new incarnational cycle. How many of us are truly confident and comfortable when we are experiencing something for the first time? Most of us feel awkward and shy, or our Egos compensate and we become overly confident only to suffer a bruised ego later on when we fail miserably or don’t live up to our own expectations. There will be a lot of healing on this level. Self love first requires self trust which is something we will be confronted with a lot during these next 8 years. Aries wants you to experience a lot of new things, but in order to truly experience them, a certain level of trust has to be present, and so Chiron will be forcing you to become self reliant. It’s no longer about the Pisces escapism where during the past 8 years you might have retreated into your head a lot. No, Chiron in Aries will push you into a lot of new situations head on that will force you to deal with them. We all know that you learn the most about yourself when you are challenged and try new things. Remember, Chiron in Aries is all about the self “who am I?”

Chiron in Pisces helped us understand the spiritual side to life, but that information is useless unless we can use it for self empowerment which in turn will empower humanity. Chiron in Aries will take all that “spiritual stuff” and make us use it for self analysis. Questioning your place in the “spiritual industry” and the universe itself will be very strong. We are moving away from healing deep emotional wounds to healing deep action oriented wounds. How are you holding yourself back? Are you afraid of taking some steps? Do you care about what other people think of you too much? What do you really want to accomplish in your life?

Aries is the warrior so you will feel the push to go your own way during this transit. It’s a very independent sign, so at times you might feel very lonely, but getting in touch with yourself is the only way to repair this Chiron wound. The heart is a lonely hunter.

Chiron in Aries will confront issues around self-love, self-worth, and identity that will create a balm of self awareness that will be the cure to the Aries wound of an unconscious self.

Check out the song ‘I am the Warrior” by Scandal down below. I find it to be such an empowering song!

Full Moon in Libra March 31, 2018: The Weighing of the Heart

This lunation is about bringing together our heart and mind in order to create a perfect equilibrium, worthy of Maat. Maat is an Ancient Egyptian concept of justice. It was believed that social and personal disharmony disrupts the heavens which causes hiccups in the cycle of the seasons, social interactions, the movements of the planets, and truth. Behaviour on Earth directly affects the cosmos. This is a little different from what modern day new age philosophies preach- as above so below. We have resorted to blaming the planets and tricky alignments for chaos on Earth, but perhaps we need to take some responsibility and realize that we are in a symbiotic relationship with the universe. It will respond to our actions, just like we will respond to it.

When a soul was passing through the underworld, its heart would be weighed against the feather of Maat- the feather of justice. The heart contained the soul of the person and the accumulated energies…both good and bad of the person. If the feather was found to be lighter or of equal weight to the feather, it meant the person lived a virtuous life and would prosper in the afterlife. If the heart was found to be heavier than the feather, the heart would be devoured by the lion goddess Ammit and was to be left in the Duat…purgatory.

Your Heart Weighing Ceremony

If we relate this to our Full Moon in Libra, the lesson here is selflessness. Selflessness requires honesty to thy self and the willingness to compromise. To the Ancient Egyptians, a virtuous life meant that the individual used their power for the greater good of the universe, deeply appreciating the delicate balance it had with the heavens and the responsibility to be a good person on Earth.  Are you being a bystander in your own life, surrendering everything to the universe without taking responsibility for your actions? Or are you co-creating with the universe, setting positive intentions, helping others, and honouring your unique self? This time of balance (especially after the equalizing energy of the Spring Equinox) can emphasize our imbalances. Our Leo North Node might have been making you a little too egotistical, or our Aquarius South Node might have been making you too compromising. Ironically, it was the lion goddess who devoured the imbalanced hearts……….too much Leo energy is unvirtuous which means one cannot truly ascend.

This is the first Full Moon after our cosmic equilibrium of the Spring Equinox where a fertile energetic frequency was created. The conditions are still fertile- especially with this Venus ruled Moon. Falling on Easter Sunday, we know that we are celebrating cosmic ascension (Christ, the Solar Deity rose to heaven on this full moon after the Spring Equinox). We can ascend or more practically speaking, evolve and lighten (Libra) up through rooting our actions with a sense of purpose and grace. Libra energy is about moving away from “me consciousness” to “we consciousness.” Ask yourself if what you are doing is motivated for selfish purposes, or are you wanting to help humanity through your actions? Remember, Libra is an air sign which is great for thinking, and coupled with Mercury Retrograde in Aries, the time is perfect for self-reflection. We are also in an 11 universal year which is also forcing you to awaken so you can share your light with the world.

Think of this Libran Full Moon as your own Heart Weighing Ceremony. Are you acting with integrity, or are you acting with ignorance? Will Anubis allow you to ascend? Or will the Leo goddess devour your soul?

The Aspects

Sun & Moon square Mars & Saturn in Capricorn- this aspect is about looking at the bigger picture. We want to move ahead (Mars), but Saturn wants us to plan. This transit will teach you self-awareness which is required for true balance in our relationships with others and the universe.

Moon Trine North Node in Leo- Like the lioness goddess Ammit who devoured the unvirtuous hearts, we too can remove those parts of ourselves that are holding us back. This might require speaking up for yourself or taking a step back depending on if you’ve been too selfish or too selfless.
