Sophia Loren will be celebrating her birthday coming up on September 20, 2017. Since her life has been so well documented in the press, I thought her chart would be fun to analyze using my Slavic Tree Astrology technique.
For those of you not familiar with Sophia Loren she is an Italian actress who rose to fame in the 1950s and had a solid career ever since. She was the ultimate screen goddess known for her effortless sensuality and Mediterranean elegance.
Sophia Loren was born under the influence of the Linden Tree. Born under this tree, this signifies she is both beautiful and loves love. Clean, precise, and organized- having a happy family is one of their life’s missions. Tranquility and serenity is also possible.
The Linden Tree is a summer blooming tree meaning the first three houses in Sophia’s chart are ruled by summer. The spiritual lessons of Summer are that of rest and passion. Summer is also a time of letting go and completion since after the solstice, the days start getting shorter and shorter. Summer is always a major point of growth. Summer is a reminder that in time, the fruits of your labour will ripen- you just have to trust that in time things do work out. Summer in a Slavic Tree Astrology Chart shows lessons that must be learned from a past life.
It’s important to note that while each season rules 3 consecutive houses in Slavic Tree Astrology, the season itself has 3 points- Ascension, Peak, & Declination. Ascension being the rawest example of the seasonal energy, Peak being the strongest, and declination being the weakest.
Ascension- Sophia’s 1st House or ASC is Capricorn- the sign of slow and steady wins the race. Sophia was always known as one of the hardest working actresses in Hollywood and it was her determination to succeed that allowed her to do so. Her olive skin is also attributed to the sunkissed look of summer that she donned her whole life due to her Italian heritage.
Peak-Sophia’s 2nd House in Aquarius sees a Moon conjunct Saturn. This shows a strong self-protected energy and disciplined emotions. In her second house of money and values we can see that Sophia is an extremely determined person who did not let the heat (Summer) of any problems stop her. Once again we see the summer influence here with a strong drive to succeed much like the Sun represents our life force in Astrology.
Declination-Sophia’s 3rd House in Pisces shows a more gentle way of communicating and getting her point across, like a soft summer breeze. Sophia’s actions always spoke louder than her words.
Autumn is the season of harvest. This is where we reflect upon the year and have to let go of what no longer serves us. I’ve noticed that the Autumn ruled houses in a chart indicate major karmic areas of a person’s life.
Ascension-Sophia’s 4th House of Aries has Uranus on the cusp. This shows sudden changes in her home life and displacement. Sophia lived in Italy during the second world war and was homeless, impoverished, and starving. Her father also left home when she was a young girl and never returned. Autumn the season of transitions and preparation can be seen with her unstable home life.
Peak-Sophia’s 5th House in Taurus shows a love of cooking hearty (Autumn) meals. Sophia would spend lots of time preparing (Autumn) for her roles.
Declination-Sophia’s 6th House in Gemini shows a dual career. She was an actress and mother and found herself constantly juggling the two.
Winter is the season of stability and introspection and in Slavic Tree Astrology it represents areas of our life that require more effort for them to succeed.
Ascension-7th House in Cancer shows a spouse who was more like a motherly or fatherly figure to her. A strong emotional connection between the two of them was present, like a cozy Winter. Pluto here shows the darkness surrounding her marriage and transformation (Winter) she went through as a result. This also indicates a taboo associated with her marriage due to her being a teenager when she got involved with her married spouse at the time, who the famous Italian director Carlo Ponti.
Peak-8th House- Mars in 8th house of Leo shows a lavish lifestyle and issues with those who lend money. Sophia spent a short time in jail for tax evasions and was known for her overly indulgent lifestyle.
Declination-9th House- Virgo- Venus, Neptune, Sun- shows a glamorous facade that enhanced her Venusian qualities. Winter is unchanging which is why she always gives the illusion of being younger than she actually is. With a stellium in her 9th house, we can see that her perspective of life is one of taking control and manifesting your dreams through effort.
Spring is the season of renewal and new beginnings. It is the area of our life that shows where we have the greatest opportunities to evolve and grow.
Ascension-10th house- Libra- Mercury and Jupiter, Midheaven- career is the spring of her life, where she rebirthed from the image of her poor Italian childhood.
Peak-11th house- Scorpio- Sophia Loren was not considered to be an overly social person and as a result, many confused her for being standoffish and snobbish. Scorpio on the 11th can show someone who is to caught up in their own self-image and does not know how to escape their own obsessive thoughts about achieving their dreams. Sophia was known to be a little arrogant and determined to succeed in every area of her life.
Declination-12th house- Sagittarius- Here we can see that spiritual truths only come through to Sophia after everything else in her life has been taken care of. This is the placement for a humanitarian and spiritual teacher. This also indicates introversion, so while Sophia was Italian, she never spoke about religion or spirituality. Her soul is embarking on a new karmic journey in this lifetime and in the next.
